Academic entrepreneurship, as a practice and a field forscholarly investigation, provides an opportunity to challengequestions and rethink about the nature and scope of publication. This paper puts forward an aspect for the research universities of Pakistan that can result in new value generation and job creation. Academic entrepreneur is missing forms of entrepreneurship in the relatively higher priority given to promoting or capturing economic value. Findings support that university reward system; support, leadership, and organization structure are the key indicator of academic entrepreneur within these research universities. Results provide evidence that academic entrepreneurship has a positive influence on research commercialization and technology transfer for these higher education institutes

Fault Tree Analysis for a Modern Communication System

    Get PDF
Wireless communications became one of the most widespread means for transferring information. Speed and reliability in transferring the piece of information are considered one of the most important requirements in communication systems in general. Moreover, Quality and reliability in any system are considered the most important criterion of the efficiency of this system in doing the task it is designed to do and its ability for satisfactory performance for a certain period of time, Therefore, we need fault tree analysis in these systems in order to determine how to detect an error or defect when happening in communication system and what are the possibilities that make this error happens. This research deals with studying TETRA system components, studying the physical layer in theory and practice, as well as studying fault tree analysis in this system, and later benefit from this study in proposing improvements to the structure of the system, which led to improve gain in Link Budget. A simulation and test have been done using MATLAB, where simulation results have shown that the built fault tree is able to detect the system’s work by 82.4%

    Get PDF
This research is an attempt to empirically analyse the strategicbehaviour i.e. selectivity and timing skills of mutual fund managersand persistence in performance of mutual funds in Pakistan usingdata set of thirty-three open end equity based mutual funds from June2008-2016. Strategic behaviour has been analysed through proposedmethodology by Jensen Alpha, Treynor & Mazuy and Henriksson &Merton. Persistence in risk adjusted performance has been evaluatedusing Sharpe, Treynor and Sortino measures. Results indicate thatonly few mutual fund managers possess either significant selectivityor outstanding timing skills in Pakistan. This implies that most of themutual fund managers are either speculative or inside traders.Persistence in performance of mutual funds is not strong enoughbecause performance of fewer mutual funds exceeds the performanceof capital market. Mutual funds that exhibit positive risk premiumalso exhibited underperformance after the adjustment of risk factor
