Development of the Cognitive Bias Assessment Scale 80（CBA-80) : An examination of the extent to which 80 representative cognitive biases are experienced in daily life and their relationship to well-being
Get PDFSystematic and predictable cognitive errors in judgment, decision making, and memory are commonly referred to as cognitive biases. Although there are many studies on cognitive biases, thereis a lack of research on the extent to which people experience cognitive biases in their daily lives. In this study, a Cognitive Bias Assessment Scale 80（CBA-80） was developed to comprehensively assess the experience of 80 representative cognitive biases. The CBA-80 was then used to conduct there search, focusing on three main questions: the extent to which people experience cognitive biases in their daily lives, the relationship between cognitive bias experience and gender and age, and the relationship between cognitive bias experience and well-being. The research was conducted among 1,200 workers aged 20-59 living in Japan. The results showed that cognitive bias did not occur only in the experimental laboratory, but was also widely observed in daily life. In addition, younger age tended to experience more cognitive bias. There were positive and negative relationship between experiencing cognitive bias and well-being. Finally, the importance of comprehensive research oncognitive bias was discussed.departmental bulletin pape
