Ethical Considerations in Patients with Obesity
Obesity is an epidemic that is about to overwhelm the economic and health care structures of society. Obesity is a complex medical condition that has roots in genetic, environmental and social exposures that should not be attributed lack of willpower any more than other diseases.
A supportive clinical setting for patients with obesity optimally includes comfortable, accessible waiting and examination areas with weight-sensitive reading materials; specialized medical equipment, specially designed tables and surgical equipment; and sensitive weighing procedures, including a private weighing area. Patients with obesity should be treated similarly to other patient populations that require additional care or have increased risks of adverse medical outcomes
The first 1000 days of life, an opportunity that must be taken for the future generations
The “developmental origins of health and disease” (DOHaD) is a concept that has proven the link between the state of maternal health and risk from disease in later childhood and adult life with the environmental conditions of the early life. Hence, the first 1000 days is reported as a critical period of opportunity for interventions to prevent stunting and other associated pathologies at later life
New findings on fiber intake in children
Fibre is an essential component of the human diet that is crucial for human health, the physiological and functional effects of dietary fibre are associated with a wide range of short-term and long-term health benefits. Fibre provides an energy source for the gut microbiome. The fermentation of fibre by the gut microbiome results in the production of a variety of compounds with short-term and long-term health benefits that extend beyond the gut, to the immune system and organs such as the liver, kidneys and even the brain. The short-term benefits include supporting the immune system, especially within the gut itself, preventing or ameliorating autoimmune diseases such as diabetes, inflammatory arthritis, inflammatory gastrointestinal disorders and allergic disease
Comparison of correlation between protein and iron intake with hemoglobin levels in children age 6-23 and 24-36 months during COVID-19 pandemic in east Jakarta
Background and objectives : Anemia prevalence, especially iron deficiency anemia, among Indonesian toddlers is high. Iron deficiency may interfere nerve development and also cause immune problems. Protein malnutrition may also cause anemia. The prevalence is higher in 6-23 months age group due to the increase need. However, the correlations between iron and protein intake with hemoglobin levels are still showing different results and researches don’t compare the correlation between age groups

The importance of gut health in early life for long term health
Introduction. The gut microbiota plays an important role in the normal functioning of the host organism. The microbiota of healthy newborn affected by many factors such as prenatal exposures, maternal nutrition, mode of delivery, type of feeding, introduction to solid food and its type, geography, and antibiotics consumption; and its composition continues to mature until reaching 3 years of age. Normal gut microbiota is essential in gut health, and play an important role in our homeostasis. Therefore, gut microbiota is considered a crucial factor for proper early life development and lifelong health. Prebiotics, along with probiotics, may alter gut microbiota composition thus play a role in the prevention of various diseases associated with dysbiosis condition.
Methods. Advanced search for relevant literatures in PubMed, Cochrane, and Willey was conducted. After assessing the relevancy and eligibility, articles were selected and critically appraised.
Conclusions. Accumulating evidence from different studies has shown that the occurrence of a disease is often preceded by early alterations of the microbiota. Many studies established correlation between gut microbiota dysbiosis with diseases pathogenesis i.e obesity and other metabolic syndrome, asthma and allergies, also stress-related disorder. Prebiotic supplementation has proven to be effective in obesity, asthma and allergies management, also beneficial for immune system
The transiton of nutritional status at first year medical students during e-classes

Findings from Nutriplanet: how ready are we for healthy aging?
Healthy aging has become one of the important focus in many countries. The World Health Organization and the United Nation have initiated The Healthy Aging Decade (2021 – 2030) which focus on collaborative efforts to reach healthy aging condition – a condition in which the senior population remains productive, has good quality of life and not become economic burden for the country. To reach this condition, one should put efforts as early as possible. In Indonesia, it is predicted that in 2040 there will be an increment in aging population. Pre-senior population (aged 45 – 60 years) will reach 17.5% and senior population (aged >60 years) will reach 10.1%. These numbers will make Indonesia one of the countries with the highest senior population in the world
