Carbon nanotube-based electrospun nanofibrous scaffolds for characterization of biological macromolecules
No full textThis study investigates the incorporation of bacteriorhodopsin (bR) into PVA-MWNT nanofibrous scaffolds for biosensing applications. PVA-MWNT dispersions were synthesized, and scaffolds were created using electrospinning. The scaffolds were imaged using an SEM and characterized using electrochemical impedance (EIS), which indicated that the presence of bR enhanced the conductivity of the scaffolds, likely by forming conduction pathways through the nanofibers. SEM analysis suggested morphological changes in bR-containing fragments during electrospinning, as they did not align with their control structure observed via AFM. Finite element analysis investigated the diffusion behavior of bR within the scaffold, further supporting its role in conductivity enhancement
