Propper Microscope Box - 3
No full textThis is a Propper microscope box which houses a Propper microscope which was used in one of Molloy Colleges Biology Labs. The box is made from wood, has a metal handle on the top with a key and screwdriver wedge tied to it. A bolt holds the microscope in place for safe transport. A metal tag is nailed into the cover of the box and reads Propper Model SDA. Besides the microscope, the inside of the box holds a removable vial holder in the top left, the microscope light, and a Guarantee card. parts of the inside of the box are lined with green felt for padding.

Books 1897 - 1899: Donation Letter - 2
No full textThis is the donation letter for the five books dated from 1897 - 1899. The letter consists of a card produced by www.Perkins.org and featuring a photo of What Makes Me Happy on the cover and a quote from Helen Keller on the back. Inside the card is written a short handwritten note and a longer full page note as well. Both are addressed to Mary Scanio and from Loretta H. Ohadovic. In the long note, Loretta H. Ohadovic a Molloy College School of Nursing 1964 alumni, explains that she was given the books by a friend and that they all once belonged to a Mrs. Willcox of Pine Island NY.

No full textThis is a textbook and manual for students studying nursing produced at the end of the 19th Century by W.B. Saunders of Philadelphia. The book is presumed to have originally belonged to Elizebeth S Crame as her name appears on the top and bottom text block and the front flyleaf contains the following in pencil Elizebeth S Crame Orange Memorial Hospital Training School for Nurses. This book also contains student notes both on the back flyleaf pages and on page 319 (unphotographed). Uniform: Flight Attendant - 1
No full textThis is a United Airlines flight attendant uniform, in size 12 petite, produced by Fashionaire Apparel, a Hartmarx Company, made in the U.S.A.
Contrary to common belief, flight attendants today are not required to be nurses; however, as with many modern-day myths, there is some truth to this misconception. In the 1930s, the first female flight attendants were required to be nurses. When World War II began the requirement, as well as others, was dropped to ensure that resources were available for the war effort. After WWII, some requirements were reinstituted into the profession; the nursing requirement was not one of them. The Airlines industry had outgrown the need for flight attendant nurses. As a result, this 1990’s United Airlines flight attendant uniform was most likely not worn by a nurse.
