    Perceptions of EFL Students Regarding the Use of Natural Language Processing AI for Improving English Writing Skill

    In the digital age, rapid technological advancements have introduced various Artificial Intelligence (AI), significantly influencing education, particularly in language learning. This study focuses on ChatGPT, a Natural Language Processing model developed by OpenAI, exploring its transformative potential in language generation tasks, including writing. Ethical considerations in AI development, emphasized by organizations like OpenAI, are crucial for responsible deployment. ChatGPT promises to modernize language learning, particularly in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) context, by aiding learners in writing tasks. Writing skills are essential for language proficiency, encompassing cognitive, emotional, and social dimensions. The integration of AI in language learning not only enhances writing proficiency but also fosters creativity and critical thinking. However, student perceptions of AI tools like ChatGPT vary, with concerns about creativity hindrance and reliance on technology. Employing a mixed-methods approach, this study investigates EFL students' perceptions of ChatGPT's impact on writing skills, revealing predominantly positive responses alongside challenges such as internet connectivity issues and reliance on paid versions. Overall, ChatGPT offers opportunities to enhance writing skills, although ethical deployment and user dependency considerations are paramount

    This research underlines the relevance of communication strategies in gathering votes in politics, especially in the modern political era which is characterized by the vital role of social media in spreading political messages and influencing public opinion. The focus on the use of social media in determining the choice of 2024 presidential and vice presidential candidates, especially Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, shows awareness of the importance of access to information that is easy to understand and relevant for each individual. The importance of further research to understand the information more deeply highlights awareness of the importance of criticism in consuming social media content. Apart from being a source of information, social media is also seen as a channel for people's aspirations and views, turning it into a participatory tool in the political process. Thus, this research shows that social media has a significant role in the process of determining political choices, especially in the context of the 2024 presidential election. Understanding the comparison of social media in political communication is an important key for prospective leaders to be able to respond effectively to the aspirations and needs of the community

    Indonesian Language for non-native speakers is generally taught through formal schools with comprehensive learning facilities and professional teachers. Indonesian language lessons for non-native speakers are not entirely intended for foreign citizens but are also needed by Indonesian citizens who have lived for generations outside Indonesia. As a result, they need to relearn Indonesian language and culture. Kursus Pengetahuan Dasar Indonesia (KPDI) Davao, Philippines is a program created by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in the Davao working area which aims to Indonesianize Indonesian descendants spread across the Davao region, Philippines. However, this program did not run optimally due to the lack of professional teachers and adequate learning facilities. Despite efforts by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Davao to provide modules for teachers or instructors and implement monitoring and evaluation programs to ensure the learning is ongoing. This research aims to provide input on nature-based learning designs that can be implemented easily and efficiently by instructors to help improve students' vocabulary and communication skills at Kursus Pengetahuan Dasar Indonesia (KPDI) in Davao, Mindanao, Philippines. Using a qualitative approach, data collection was carried out through interviews, observation, and literature studies. The results of the research show the importance of improving modules, mentoring and providing direction to teachers to design learning methods with students-based learning approaches

    The Use of Youtube Video to Improve Students’ Speaking Skill of Class VII UPTD SMP Negeri 22 Barru

    The use of YouTube videos as a learning tool has the potential to enhance students' speaking skills. This study aims to determine whether incorporating YouTube videos into the curriculum can improve the speaking skills of seventh-grade students at UPTD SMP Negeri 22 Barru. This research was conducted using a pre-experimental method, with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The research population consisted of seventh-grade students at UPTD SMP Negeri 22 Barru, with a sample of 27 students from class VII-2 selected through random sampling. The results of the study indicated that after the treatment, most students found learning English less difficult, particularly in terms of speaking skills. They began to feel more confident speaking in English and showed a higher enthusiasm for continuing to learn the language. This is supported by data showing that the mean pre-test score was 56.48, while the mean post-test score was 80. Additionally, the post-test mean score of 80 was higher than the minimum passing score of 75 at UPTD SMP Negeri 22 Barru. The result of the t-test score in the final test was 2.665, compared to a t-table value of 1.706. Therefore, the researchers conclude that the use of YouTube videos can improve the speaking skills of seventh-grade students at UPTD SMP Negeri 22 Barru

    The Effect of Bingo Game on the Students’ Pronunciation and Interest in Learning English

    The aim of this research is to find out whether bingo Game can help students with pronunciation and can attract students’ interest in taking English classes. Related to the research objectives using pre-experimental research. The research population was class VIII students of SMP Negeri 26 Kabupaten Sorong. In collecting data, researchers used 30 Vocabulary for pre-test and post-test. In analyzing the data, researchers used SPSS 20 to calculate the data. After analyzing the T-Sample test results, the alternative hypothesis states that the Bingo Game media has an impact on the pronunciation and interest of students at SMP Negeri 26 Sorong Regency, especially students in class VIII and the Null hypothesis is rejected. Apart from that, the result of P-Value (.000) is smaller than P.Value (0.01), which means that students comprehension scores between pre-test and post-test are significantly different and it can be concluded that the bingo game has an impact on students pronunciation and interest at SMP Negeri 26 Kabupaten Sorong &nbsp

    Artikel ini membahas peran Komisi Yudisial (KY) dalam menjaga integritas dan independensi kekuasaan yudikatif di Indonesia. KY, sebagai pilar kekuasaan yudikatif, memiliki dasar konstitusional yang memberikan legitimasi pada wewenangnya dalam seleksi, promosi, dan pengawasan hakim. Serta menyoroti kompleksitas klasifikasi kekuasaan KY, meskipun umumnya lembaga ini dikategorikan sebagai lembaga yudikatif, tetapi lembaga ini memiliki aspek-aspek yang mencerminkan sifat eksekutif dan legislatif. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan normatif serta analisis-deskriptif diharapkan dapat mencapai peningkatan kualitas pengawasan, transparansi, dan kerjasama dengan lembaga lain, serta menjadi fokus perbaikan, dengan harapan KY dapat lebih efektif dalam menjaga integritas peradilan di Indonesia

    Local Government Financial Performance Reviewed from Financial Ratios and Indexes

    This research aims to analyze the financial performance of the Ambon City regional government in terms of financial ratios in implementing regional autonomy. This research is a descriptive qualitative research type. Using documentation study data collection techniques or by tracing which is done by collecting secondary data, namely regional government financial report data for 2012 - 2015 from related agencies. The data analysis technique used is the descriptive analysis technique to assess financial performance, namely the regional independence ratio, effectiveness ratio, regional financial activity/harmony ratio and regional financial growth ratio, assessing financial capability using the degree of fiscal autonomy ratio and routine capability index. The research results found that the Regional Financial Independence Ratio (RKKD) of Ambon City during the three year observation period from 2013 to 2015 was on a scale of 0% - 25%, which means it was classified as "poor". Regional Financial Activity/Harmony Ratio (RAKD) for Direct Expenditures (BL) and Indirect Expenditures (BTL) in Ambon City, where during the observation period Indirect Expenditures (BTL) had a large portion compared to Direct Expenditures. The amount of indirect expenditure has reached more than 65%, which means that the Ambon City Government spends more on personnel expenditure than on public services. Growth ratio, it is known that of the four elements of the APBD, namely PAD, TPD, Indirect Expenditure and Direct Expenditure, the Ambon City government was only able to maintain good PAD growth during the observation period from 2013 to 2015, the rest of the growth rate still needs to be improved. The DOF ratio of Ambon City during the three year observation period from 2013 to 2015 was "very poor", below 10%, and that means that the Ambon City Government has very poor ability to finance government activities. The Routine Capacity Index (IKR) for the three year observation period from 2013 to 2015 shows that the ability of the Ambon City government to spend routine expenditures with local original income is still "deficient", namely less than 20% or in other words more than 80% of the City's routine expenditures.     Menghafal al-Qur’an tidaklah mudah, kerumitan didalamnya menyangkut ketetapan membaca dan pengucapan tidak bisa diabaikan begitu saja. Oleh karena itu guru memiliki peran penting terhadap keberhasilan seorang siswa dalam menghafal. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui upaya guru Qur’an dan hambatan-hambata yang dihadapi guru dalam menangani problematika hafalan al-Qur’an siswa kelas VIII di SMPIT Alam Mutiara Insan. Sekolah tersebut dikenal sebagai Lembaga yang memiliki program unggulan dengan target hafalan al-Qur’an. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif  lapangan. Subjek penelitian ini adalah guru Qur’an, siswa kelas VIII dan orang tua siswa. Adapun teknik pengumpulan datanya menggunakan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Selanjutnya data disajikan dalam bentuk yang sesuai sehingga mudah dibaca dan dipahami, kemudian data analisis dan diambil kesimpulannya. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, bahwa upaya yang dilakukan oleh guru dalam menangani problematikan hafalan al-Qur’an siswa kelas VIII di SMPIT Alam Mutiara Insan yaitu : 1) Memberikan motivasi dan arahan kepada siswa. 2) Menggunakan metode heuristik dan talaqqi. 3) Relasi guru dan orang tua siswa. 4) Mengingatkan siswa untuk tetap murojaah. Adapun hambatan-hambatan yang dihadapi guru dalam menangani problematika hafalan siswa kelas VIII yaitu:1)Terbatasnya waktu pembelajaran. 2) Guru kurang mahir membaca al-Qur’an. 3) Adanya rasa malas pada diri siswa. 4) Adanya siswa yang belum mampu membaca al-Qur’an dengan baik. 5) kurangnya motivasi dalam diri siswa. 6) Kurang tertibnya siswa

    Literasi Digital Anak-Anak Remaja di Pesisir Pantai Pulau Doom Kecamatan Sorong Kepulauan

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui literasi digital anak-anak remaja di pesisir pantai Pulau Doom Kecamatan Sorong Kepulauan. Penelitian ini berlokasi di Pesisir Pantai Pulau Doom Kecamatan Sorong Kepulauan Kota Sorong. Penentuan lokasi penelitian ini didasarkan pada pertimbangan bahwa di pesisir pantai Kecamatan Sorong Kepulauanbanyak terdapat anak-anak remaja yang menghabiskan waktunya di pesisir pantai dan belum tersedianya rumah baca sehingga sebagian besar informasi mereka akses melalui internet. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah, 5 orang mahasiswa asal Pulau Doom,  dan 10 orang anak-anak yang berusia 15-24  tahun. Teknik penentuan informan yang digunakan adalah Teknik purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis deskriptif kualitatif Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa literasi digital anak-anak pesisir pantai Pulau Doom di Kecamatan Sorong Kepulauan cukup baik dimana dari 4 indikator yang dijadikan variabel penelitian, 3 indikator diantaranya yaitu digital skills, digital culture, digital etics, menunjukan bahwa mereka rata-rata sudah memiliki kecerdasan untuk 3 aspek ini. Dimana untuk digital skills mereka rata-rata sudah cukup mahir memainkan internet dan bermedia sosial serta membuat konten, sementara itu mereka jg sudah cukup baik merepresentasikan diri mereka dan budaya serta menghargai budaya lainnya (digital culture), dan merekapun sudah cukup memahami bahwa bermedia sosial terikat dengan aturan etika yang harus diterapkan ketika bermedia sosial (digital etics). Sementara itu untuk digital safety mendapatkan hasil yang kurang baik. Tingkat kecakapan mereka dalam keamanan digital masih minim. Hal tersebut dipengaruhi juga oleh keterbatasan mereka dalam pengetahuan terkait teknologi keamanan siber

    This research aims to determine the context of discourse in the novel Heartbreak Motel. This research uses a qualitative approach and content analysis method. The data source in this research is the novel Heartbreak Motel by Ika Natassa. The data in this research are in the form of quotations containing discourse context which includes background context (setting and scene), participant context (participant), result context (ends), message context (act), method context (key), means context (instrument). ), context of norms (norms), and context of type (genre) in the novel Heartbreak Motel by Ika Natassa. Data collection is obtained by reading, finding/marking, copying and grouping words that are included in the discourse context. The results of this research found 34 scenes containing eight elements of discourse context, namely background context (setting and scene) with 41 data consisting of 17 time setting data and 24 place setting data, 22 participant contexts, result contexts (ends). ) as many as 29 data, the context of the message (act) as much as 15 data, the context of the method (key) as much as 28 data, the context of the means (instrument) in which the discourse is carried out orally or directly as much as 28 data and using telephone media as much as 6 data, the context of norms ( norms) in this discourse are carried out in two directions and three directions, and the context of the type (genre) in this discourse is included in fictional prose
