    Synthesis, Growth and characterization of pure L-Asparagine and its based crystal: L-Asparagine admixtured with cadmium chloride using different solutions

    Pure L-Asparagine and L-Asparagine admixtured with cadmium chloride using de-ionised water as solvent of size of 19mm x 14mm x6mm and 6mm x 4mmx2mm were grown by slow evaporation technique. Structural confirmations of grown crystals were done by powder x-ray diffraction. The various absorption peaks were obtained from FTIR study. The grown crystals were optically transparent and cut off wavelengths were 220nm and 203 nm and corresponding energy gap values were 5.46 eV and 6.11eV respectively. From the mechanical results, it is noticed that the hardness number increases with the applied load and the value of hardening coefficients of the grown crystals were greater than 1.6. So the grown crystals belonged to the soft material category

    In situ reduction synthesis of nanocomposite fiber Nylon 6 and nano silver: focus on antibacterial properties

    Nanotechnology has been expanded in different industries and created new applications and properties in products. Accordingly, nanocomposites with special properties is very important. Polymeric materials and nanofibers with high special surface are suitable substrates for growing microorganism. This research represents a novel method for simultaneous synthesis of nano-silver by reducing method in caprolactam polymerization process. Hence, caprolactam and reducing agent on sulphur base was used for synthesis of nano silver in one bath by silver salt. Then, nano-composite fibers were prepared by electro-spinning method. FT-IR analysis confirmed structural changes in nylon 6 caused by different conditions of synthesis of nano silver. Moreover, UV-VIS, SEM, EDX, AA were used to study surface morphology. The nanocomposite fibers showed a significant antibacterial activity against gram positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus.&nbsp

    A Total 16 ground water samples were collected in and around sendurai taluk in Ariyalur district during pre-monsoon, monsoon and post-monsoon seasons and analyzed in order to find out pollution impact. The heavy metal analyses Cu, Zn, Ir, Pb and Ni were determined using atomic absorption spectrophotometer and the results were compared with the World Health Organization (WHO 2011) Standard Values. The heavy metal ions are toxic to human health. This study suggests that the preventive measures which are to be adopted to control the contamination of excess Lead and Nickel present in the water

    Kinetics, equilibrium and thermodynamics investigation on the adsorption of cr (vi) ions from wastewater using activated kigelia africana rind nano carbon

    The goal of this research is to investigate the feasibility of using activated Kigelia africana rind nano carbon (KANC) to adsorb Cr (VI) ions from aqueous solutions through batch experiments. Effect of contact time, initial Cr(VI) ion concentration, activated KANC dose, initial solution pH, other ions and temperature on the Cr (VI) ions adsorption were examined. The sorption process was examined by applying Elovich, pseudo-second order and intraparticle diffusion rate.  The best pH for Cr (VI) ions removal is in the range of 2.0-7.0 with more than 80-85% of Cr (VI) ions removed. The equilibrium time was found to be 45min and the adsorption data followed the pseudo-second-order kinetics. Isotherm data followed Langmuir isotherm model. The adsorption was endothermic and spontaneous in nature

    Effect of Ag doping on structural and optical properties of ZnO nanoparticles

    Nanocrystals of undoped and silver doped zinc oxide (Zn1-xAgx) were synthesized by co- precipitation method. The samples were calcined at 550°C. The samples were characterized by Ultraviolet Visible Spectroscopy (UV-Vis.) and Particle Size analyzer.Theband gap values of as prepared undoped and doped with silver samples are found to decreasewith increase in temperature on 300 -550°C.The Particle size analyzer studies confirmed that ZnO as a nanoparticles. The ZnO nanoparticle may be used to apply photodegradation of removal of dyes and also make nanorod sensor.&nbsp

    A study on adsorption of safranine and amaranth dyes from aqueous solution using activated carbon prepared from cocunut shell and palmyra fruit nut shell- a comparitive view

    Dyes are commonly used in textile, paint, paper, plastic, food and cosmetic industries for colouring purpose. Annually around 146000 tonne of dyes are discharged from textile industry itself. These waste water containing lot of dye contents are difficult to degrade. When these industrial effluents reach the environment, they cause mainly water pollution. In the present work, adsorption of Safranine and Amaranth dyes from aqueous solution over activated carbon obtained from cocunut shell(CSC) and palmyra fruit nut shell(PFSC) have been investigated at batch mode experiments. Experimental observations indicate that CSC has greater adsorption capacity of both dyes than PFSC. The kinetic data fitted well with pseudo-second order kinetics and also intra-particle diffusion model

    Synthesis and Characterisation of Transition Metal Complexes with new Schiff base Ligand

    A new hexadentate Schiff base ligand derived from condensation of 4-aminoantipyrine with isophthaldehyde and thiosemicarbazide, and its metal complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurement and spectral ( IR, Uv-Vis,1H NMR, Mass, EPR) studies. It has been originated that the Schiff base ligand with Co (II), Ni (II),Cu (II) and  Zn (II) ions from mononuclear complexes on  1 : 1 (metal : ligand) stoichiometry. The conductivity data confirm the electrolytic nature of the complexes. The Co (II), Ni (II), and Zn (II) complexes show an octahedral configuration. Electronic absorption spectra of the Cu (II) complex suggest a square- planar geometry around the central metal ion. The IR spectral data suggest the involvement of sulphur and azomethine nitrogen in coordination to the central metal ion. The synthesized complexes have been subjected to antimicrobial study. The antimicrobial results indicated that the antimicrobialactivity of thecomplexesshow theenhanced activity in comparison to free ligand.These findings are giving suitable support for developing new antimicrobial agent and expand our scope for applications

    Analysis of physico-chemical and biological properties of mangrove rhizosphere and saltpan sediments from palk bay region southeast coast of India

    The present study was carried out to determine the physico- chemical characteristics of sediments samples collected from mangrove ecosystem and artificial saltpan environment of Kattumavadi, Southeast coast of India. The mangrove and salt pan located at kattumavadi is an unexplored area with unique ecological niches and rich in biodiversity. The physico chemical parameters play a vital role in the mangrove ecosystems. The studies revealed that totally 8 sediments samples were collected from mangrove and saltpan and analysed for the nature of the sediments samples include texture, physico chemical properties and biological properties. The study reveal that the well structured mangrove sediments have more density of the actinomycetes
