Studies on insects of the vending machines for soft drinks (part 1) Insects trapped under vending machines for soft drinks in winter and summer and bacteria on the body surface of these insects
Get PDF40017399083Insects were trapped under six vending machines in December and July. In December, the trapped insects were mostly small flies, while in July small ants were mainly trapped and pillbugs and small spiders follwed in number.
Bacteria on the body surface of some trapped insects were examined. Ubiquitiously found bacteria were detected on the most tested insects. In December, bacteria of the Escherichia group were found on bees and Carabidae bugs. Salmonella enteritidis was found on bees, spiders and Carabidae bugs. Staphylococcus aureus was detected on larval smoky brown cockroaches, bugs, pillbugs and Carabidae bugs. In July, Vibrio parahaemolyticus was found on larval smoky brown cockroaches and pillbugs. Escherichia group bacteria were detected on pillbugs. Salmonella enteritidis was detected on larval smoky brown cockroaches and pillbugs.
Staphylococcus aureus was found on larval smoky brown cockroaches, pillbugs and weevils.
The total number of trapped insects and the number of their species were both larger in Summer (July) than in Winter (December). Similarly, bacteria were more abundantly detected on the body surface of these insects in Summer than in Winter. Report on the 19th International Congress of Nutrition at Bangkok, Thailand
Get PDF40017399088The 19th International Congress of Nutrition was held on 4 through 9 October, 2009, in Bangkok, Thailand, under the slogan “Nutrition Security for All”. I presented our research results for the poster session in a report titled as “Morphological changes of tissues during the water-swelling process of dried Hijiki, Sargassum fusiforme (Harvey) Setchell”. At the conference, a total of 3,000 titles on “Nutrition” were presented by worldwide scientists and participants in nutritional field work.

They are requesting the world with the independence of will from a high freedom even a little can. It can be said that the way of life from the freedom that Freeter and Neet are high and independence will be requested frankly speaking.
It can be said that the confrontational contradiction between these both generations is a big problem,that is, the examination war on this university all entrance age.

Get PDF40017377555The 3rd Bangladesh Japan Joint International Conference was held in Dahka, Bangladesh, on 24th and 25th March, 2008, and I presented a lecture titled as “ Re-evaluation of the brown algae, Hijiki as a useful foodstuff source of nutritionally beneficial minerals and dietary fibers.” At the conference, a total of 25 lectures concerning food hygiene, food safety and microbiology were presented.

Acute effects of a single bout of exercise on postprandial blood glucose
Get PDF40017399082Controlling postprandial hyperglycemia has been recognized to be beneficial for prevention and reduction of cardiovascular risks in diabetic patients. In this study, we evaluated acute effects of exercise after meal ingestion on postprandial blood glucose in order to develop an exercise prescription for reduction of the spike-like blood glucose elevation.
Five healthy women ingested 200 g of rice and exercised (slow-paced walking, fast-paced walking or jogging) for 25 minutes at 30 minutes after the meal ingestion. For further evaluation of the acute effects of muscle contraction on blood glucose, we also examined a foot bath which increased the local blood flow in the muscles of the lower legs without muscle contraction, and combinatorial number-placement puzzles (Sudoku) which activated brain activity. Blood glucose was measured in fasting and at 30, 60, and 120 min after meal ingestion.
Control data were obtained from the same subjects in the sitting position during the experiment.
At the end of exercise, all the exercise lowered blood glucose by 40~50mg/dL compared with the control.
(p<0.01). At 60 min after exercise, the blood glucose level in slow-paced walking remained depressed.
However, the blood glucose levels in fast-paced walking and jogging were elevated over the control, particularly, that in jogging was significantly higher (p<0.05). The foot bath and Sudoku resulted in no significant change compared with the control.
A single bout of exercise after meal ingestion lowered blood glucose at the end of exercise. However, intense exercise induced a reactive elevation in blood glucose following the temporary reduction. Additionally, muscle contraction was necessary for blood glucose to be lowered. These results suggested that an exercise prescription such as 20-30 min of slow-paced walking without any change in heart rate at 30 min after meal ingestion was effective for the reduction of the blood glucose elevation after meal ingestion.(accepted. The reason for yams being eaten without cooking could not be ascribable to digestibility of raw yam starch
Get PDF40017399085Yams such as ‘nagaimo’ and ‘tukuneimo’ are usually grated and eaten without cooking. Yam is one of a few starch-rich foods that can be eaten without cooking. The grated ‘nagaimo’ and ‘tukuneimo’ pastes were incubated at 37℃ for 120 min, but no increases in reduced sugar were detected. The starch granules prepared from ‘nagaimo’ and ‘tukuneimo’ were incubated with pancreatin of pig origin. The digestive rate of the
raw starch of ‘nagaimo’ was only 5% to alpha-starch, and was the same as those of raw starch from ‘tukuneimo’ and potato. These results show that the reason for yams being eaten without cooking could not be ascribable to raw yam starch. Why are yams eaten without cooking? It is suggested that the taste of grated yams is ascribable

Effect of indigestible dextrin on changes in postprandial blood glucose: comparison of glucose and rice
Get PDF40017377545Changes in blood glucose were evaluated to investigate influence of indigestible dextrin on postprandial blood glucose after a glucose solution intake and a rice intake.
One hundred fifty-four healthy adults were divided into four groups; (1)glucose solution without indigestible dextrin(ID), (2)glucose solution with ID, (3)rice without ID and (4)rice with ID. The subjects received glucose solution or rice with/without ID. Blood glucose concentrations were measured in fasting and at 30, 60 and 120min after the test meal.
There was no difference of the peaks of blood glucose concentrations between the glucose solution group and the rice group, but the blood glucose levels after the rice intake were significantly higher than those after the glucose solution intake at 60 and 120 min postprandially (60min p<0.05, 120min p<0.01). This result indicated that the blood glucose curves could vary with the types of sugar.
When comparing the blood glucose curves between the test meal with ID and that without ID, no difference of the peaks of blood glucose curves was detected in the glucose solution group and the rice group. However,after the peaks, the blood glucose curves showed rapid decreases in the glucose solution with ID and rice with ID, compared to those without ID.
The glucose solution with ID showed the significant change in blood glucose within 30-120 min postprandially(p<0.05), compared to that without ID. In contrast, the rice with ID showed the significant change in blood glucose within 30-60 min postprandially, which was the early postprandial phase, compared to that without ID(p<0.05). These suggested that ID impacted on the changes in blood glucose after the glucose solution intake and the rice intake, but a different mechanism might work on the lowering of blood glucose between glucose and rice.departmental bulletin pape

It was not common to transmit the art of RAKUGO from a professional to an amateur, for the transmission of RAKUGO has been only possible in a mentor to pupil relationship. However, I realize some significance in the transmission of the art of RAKUGO from a professional to an amateur.
In this paper, I will give my thoughts about usefulness of the art of narration in RAKUGO through a series of lectures and lessons for some vocational school students. Lost motherhood and female's identity in Twilight sleep
Get PDF40017377553Both of Wharton’s “The Old Maid”(1924) and The Mother’s Recompense (1925) have the same theme of the relationship between motherhood and female’s sexuality. Twilight Sleep (1927), published two years later The Mother’s Recompense, adds another theme to it. It also focuses on an icon of family’s identity,especially mother and daughter. Therefore, as seen in Lewis’s comments, this novel might be “the most plotted of Edith Wharton’s novels.” While Wolff is critical to it as “Twilight Sleep is chaotically plotted,” she analyzes it as “some of this anarchy is undoubtedly intended as a reflection of the disjointed quality of life in postwar America.” In this novel Wharton proposes a problematic theme of the relationship between motherhood and female’s identity that has been developed in the times of Taylorism and Fordism after the First World War in America. Even now in 21st century, in which descendants of Pauline, Nona and Lita live, the concept of motherhood related to female’s identity should be deliberated in the aspects of changing world.
