Consideration of “Food Education” in Moral Education: Its Dual Nature and Issues in “Moral Education through Deliberating and Discussing”
The aim of this paper is to clarify the dual nature and issues of “food education” in mora education.
Much can be learned through “food” such as the eating process, as well about the food itself. This can be likened to moral education. Based on this perspective, this study examined research on “food” in moral education and pedagogical studies. The results indicate that while “food” has educational value in moral education, there is also a risk of contradicting the principle of “moral education through deliberating and discussing”. To overcome this issue would require the acquisition of science-based “knowledge”.departmental bulletin pape
Development of a Running Exercise Program Focusing on Playful Elements
Children typically develop walking and running abilities between ages 1 and 3, with running being a key motor skill that enhances balance and risk management. However, modern trends such as the increased use of cars and elevators as well as reduced outdoor play have led to decreased physical activity, raising concerns about declining running skills. This paper presents a running improvement program incorporating play elements to address this issue. By integrating concepts like “competition,” “chance,” and “a sense of fl oating,” the program makes running enjoyable while improving skills through activities like sprinting and jumping. It follows training principles of “repetition,” “progression,” and “comprehensiveness,” aiming to foster intrinsic motivation and encourage consistent participation in physical activities. Designed for educational use, this program off ers a solution to declining child fi tness levels and introduces a new form of exercise-based play.departmental bulletin pape
Effects and challenges of intergenerational exchange between older people using facilities and young children at nursery school
Objective: To obtain insights into the effects of intergenerational exchanges between older people and young children and issues that need to be addressed in order to continue such exchanges. Methods: The study observed actual intergenerational exchanges between older people who use the C Care Facility for senior citizens in City A and toddlers at the D nursery school in the same neighborhood. The author recorded interaction details in observation notes, videotaped the program content and participants’ facial expressions, and interviewed three older people and seven young children who took part in the program after the interaction. Before and after the interaction, the author interviewed three staff members and three nursery school teachers. Results: The children gradually calmed down when the nursery school teachers spoke to them or touched their shoulders, allowing the teachers to interact with the children as usual, resulting in spontaneous remarks and behaviors from the children. The seniors also off ered positive feedback. The study observed the expectations for children’s development held by the nursery school teachers and care workers who were actively supporting these interactions.departmental bulletin pape
