We located 50 tunnels and surveyed 40 of these for one or more winter season. Little brown myotis, big brown bats, and tricolored bats were the most commonly observed species, with varying preferences for tunnel features. Key predictors of bat use such as tunnel length, temperature range, and minimum temperatures were identified, with different patterns across species. Trends analysis showed growing little brown myotis colonies, stable tricolored and big brown bat populations, and low rates of infection with Pseudogymnoascus destructans, the fungus that causes white-nose syndrome. Recommendations focus on improving hibernacula conditions, reducing temperature variability, and prioritizing tunnel enhancements based on species importance and habitat suitability. This report highlights the critical role of abandoned tunnels as winter habitats for Ohio's bats and provides actionable conservation recommendations

A review of national literature and existing ODOT models provides the foundation for an interactive evidence-based process to assign new business attraction potential to ODOT projects and project areas. Findings include an overview of how the national body of literature applies to development settings faced by ODOT, observations of where development capacity, labor market access and freight market access are most sensitive to ODOT system performance, and empirical findings from a Machine-Learning model of economic responses to ODOT's investments over 10-20 years. Future research areas identified include expansion of the EDIT resources to address freight and transit access, international gateways and controlling for competing development sites within Ohio

However, their visibility significantly degrades under wet night conditions. As a result, a pilot study was initiated by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Highway Safety Improvement Program to install different wet-reflective pavement markings at multiple locations within the state to determine their effectiveness in providing visibility under wet night conditions, and this research project was initiated by ODOT to evaluate the performance of these markings and assess their impact on wet-night crashes. Wet pavement markings installed at 17 test sites from the pilot study were evaluated in this project. These materials included wet reflective tape, epoxy with large glass beads, epoxy with all-weather elements, thermoplastic with large glass beads, thermoplastic with all-weather elements, and waterborne traffic paint with large glass beads. The initial performance of these markings was evaluated within thirty days after installation. Subsequent field evaluations were performed approximately every six months for at least two years from installation, which allowed monitoring the performance of the pavement markings over a minimum of two winter seasons. Dry and wet retroreflectivity, daytime color, durability, and retention of reflective media were evaluated in the periodic field evaluations. Two analysis methodologies were utilized in this project to assess the impact of wet pavement marking retroreflectivity on roadway safety, namely a before-after analysis and a reference sites analysis. The before-after crash analysis revealed a statistically significant decrease in the occurrence of roadway departure crashes at one specific site. When comparing crash rates on wet surfaces between locations with high and low wet retroreflectivity for white markings, it was observed that the average crash rates were higher at sites with lower wet retroreflectivity. However, no clear correlation was established between treatment type, wet pavement marking retroreflectivity, and crash occurrence. The reference sites analysis resulted in crash modification factors (CMFs) for all, wet, night, and roadway departure crashes, but the CMFs lacked statistical significanc
