The goal of the current descriptive study on Peerless Institute of Nursing is to evaluate their knowledge on how to prevent hospital acquired infections. Eighty nursing students are selected using a convenient sampling method. Data was gathered by a survey using a self-created, validated questionnaire. The majority of nursing students (85%) have a mediocre understanding of how to prevent hospital acquired infections. Their degree of awareness on the prevention of hospital acquired infections was unaffected by demographic factors. The Analysis of Food Symbols in the ‘Pakan’ Ritual of the Penan Saoh in Ulu Jelalong Community, Bintulu Sarawak
Get PDFThe Pakan ritual is a performance performed in the Penan Saoh Ulu Jelalong community to be presented to Baleik. The presentation consists of symbolic elements based on each type of food served. These symbolic elements are involved with the belief and cosmological system that surround the lives of Penan Saoh community. The main focus of this research is to analyse the symbol of food in the Pakan ritual from the viewpoint of non-verbal communication. This research used an ethnographic approach, and the researchers also participated in the ritual. The data was collected through an in-depth interview with the main informant, Vaie Jau’u, and other ritual practitioners. The research was conducted in Kampung Julaihi Penan Saoh Ulu Jelalong, Bintulu, Sarawak. The data analysis found that the food delivered to Baleik had its own meaning and could be interpreted through shape, colour, and the way it was presented. The food in the Pakan tray means love, gratitude, prayer, and hope for more sustenance in the upcoming year. The research also found that the ritual is still practiced to this day by the Penan Saoh Ulu Jelalong community and becomes the identity of its existence in the state of Sarawak
In-Silico Screening of Phytocompounds of Justicia Adhatoda for Thrombolytic Activity
Get PDFBackground: The risk of thrombosis and its associated mortality is becoming a greater public health concern in both industrialized and developing nations. Clinical condition that is myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, unstable angina, peripheral vascular diseases like deep vein thrombosis prioritise top in the list of thrombotic disorders. Conventional thrombolytic medications including alteplase, anistreplase, streptokinase and urokinase offer life risking adverse effects like haemorrhage, stroke, vascular dysfunction, hypertension, internal bleeding and so on. In order to overcome the undesirable side effects caused by the conventional thrombolytic therapy, there is ominous need of alternate complementary treatment from traditional medicine. Majority of the Siddha formulations comprise of some potential medicinal herbs which are found to be biocompatible and also have a wide safety window. Justicia adhatoda is one such novel herb which is investigated broadly by researchers till date, aspired by its unique pharmacological property rendered by the bioactive components present in it. Methods: Hence, the present research is aimed at in-silico screening of certain classes of alkaloids and flavonoids retrieved from J. adhatoda to explore the possible anti-thrombotic activity against the target human plasminogen activation loop peptide using AutoDock screening tool. Results and Conclusion: The computational analysis’s findings led to the conclusion that the bioactive compounds present in Justicia adhatoda like Astragalin, Kaempferol, Vitexin, Vasicolinone and Adhatodine reveals significant binding affinity against target plasminogen. Thereby it was determined that these compounds may have promising anti-thrombotic efficacy due to their considerable binding affinity towards the target plasminogen
Perception On the Quality of Life of Families with Children With ASD Condition
Get PDFThis is a qualitative study that addresses the perceptions on the quality of life of families with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), who are cared for in an early care center of a regional university in Temuco, Chile. The research is based on a constructivist paradigm with a single case design. Semi-structured, in-depth interviews were used for data collection, and the analysis was carried out through open and axial coding, using ATLAS.ti 8.0 software. The results show that the ways in which families cope with this are conditioned by the diagnosis and level of support according to the DSM-5 that their son or daughter with ASD needs, which has repercussions on their family dynamics, which in turn conditions the expectations on the development, on their achievements and, especially, on the self-realization of their son or daughter. Given that extremes are chosen, overprotection stands out, where there is a lot of dependence and, on the other hand, a very permissive parenting style, where parents or caregivers associate all behavior to the condition and do not understand that not all behaviors are due to the condition, but that it also depends on the upbringing, routines and access to support networks
Thermal Performance and Environmental Analysis of a Brick Based on Traditional Gypsum Plaster Reinforced with Date Palm fibres
Get PDFTimchemt is a traditional plaster that has been used for a long time and until today in the construction of the Ksar of Ouargla through their facility of obtaining and realization. In addition to that, because of the use of industrial building materials, nature is carried out by the toxic gases that are produced in factories when these materials are manufactured. So to minimize these negative effects on our planet and to encourage the use of local materials from the Saharan region, we have studied this material to improve its characteristics and to replace the others, especially because it is natural and does not harm the environment. The main objective of this paper is the improvement of the thermal properties of gypsum plaster by mixing it with date palm fibres in order to be used in wall and ceiling mortars. The thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity, and thermal effusivity of the studied samples were measured using a steady hot plate. The obtained results show that the increase in the mass fraction of date palm fibres resulted in a significant improvement consisting of a reduction of the material's thermal properties. This reduction was up to 36% for the thermal conductivity, 13% for the thermal diffusivity, 23% for the thermal effusivity, and 16% for the volumetric thermal capacity
Unlocking the Synergy: ICT, Global Trade, and Growth in the GCC Region - A Panel-Causality Analysis
Get PDFThis study investigates the intricate relationship between Information and Communication Technology (ICT), global trade, and economic growth in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region over the period 1990–2022. The study Utilize a panel data framework covering the GCC member states over a significant time span, and employing an advanced econometric technique to assess the causal and cointegrated relationships among these key variables. Three tests, [1], [2], [2] Cointegration tests are applied to check for Cointegration. Additionally, fully modified least square (FMOLS) and dynamic ordinary least square (DOLS) will be used to test the magnitude of the long relationship among variables. The analysis integrates a comprehensive dataset that includes ICT indicators, trade flows, and macroeconomic variables, allowing for a robust examination of the synergy among these critical elements. The results reveal multifaceted relationships within the GCC context. While ICT is found to have a positive and significant impact on global trade and economic growth, the study also identifies bidirectional causality between ICT and global trade, indicating a reinforcing loop. Furthermore, evidence suggests that global trade plays a pivotal role in enhancing ICT diffusion within the region. The findings of this paper have several ramifications. First, they highlight the necessity for GCC governments to give priority to digitization and ICT infrastructure development activities in order to promote international commerce and economic diversification. Second, Policymakers should also consider crafting trade policies that facilitate the exchange of ICT-related goods and services, further fostering economic growth.  
An Anova-Based Numerical Analysis of WHA Partial Replacement Concrete
Get PDFIn this work, a study exploiting concretes made with a bio-plant using natural waste is presented. The study examined the effects of partial cement substitution with bio-plants on the mechanical characteristics of conventional concretes and assessed the discrepancy between actual and expected elasticity modulus values. The usage of and effects on the modulus of elasticity of the partial replacement of concrete with WHA have been the subject of extensive research. Research was conducted in the area using various water-cement ratios coupled with water hyacinth ash and replacement percentages of cement. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) is used as a practical approach to verify normality. The supplied experimental data sets are used to train and evaluate the reliability predicting model. Thus, the study effort provides an overview of the numerical analysis performed using statistical techniques and the examination of the resulting data. The model's dependability is provided by the linear relationship between the Concrete mix% and with & without WHA. The 90C+10%WHA mixture performs better than conventional concrete
Development of Leangleang Ancient Park Area as a Leading Destination Based on Natural Tourism, Education and Special Interest
Get PDFLeangleang Archaeological Park area in Maros Regency has prospective natural and cultural potential to be developed as a leading destination based on natural, educational, and special interest tourism. The problem is how to identify potential natural and cultural characteristics to be managed as tourist attractions. This study aims to identify natural and cultural characters and their management as potential to be developed into leading tourist destinations, through surveys and direct observations to describe unique, interesting, beautiful, and iconic natural and cultural characters. The results showed that the Leangleang Archaeological Park area consists of tower karst hills in which there are many prehistoric caves, various species of fauna and flora that are unique and endemic, beautiful natural scenery, and interesting community agricultural activities. Especially in prehistoric caves, there are unique and beautiful niches and cave ornaments, as well as remnants of prehistoric cultural heritage, such as the oldest hand-stamped painting in the world dating back 45,000 years. The development of these destinations must be managed by providing standard infrastructure that supports and actively involves the local community as part of a sustainable tourism industry
The Perception of Deepfake Technology Among University Students in Malaysia

It has badly affected reputation of many people without their knowledge and consent. It was decided to know about Deepfake technology at length and its extent in harming and hurting the people. A group of university students were randomly selected and administered through a questionnaire. The questionnaire comprised questions pertaining to awareness of deepfake and its consequences. The objectives of the study were to examine the emergence of Deepfake technology, the impact of Deepfake technology utility, and understanding the strategies to mitigate irresponsible usage of Deepfake technology among social media users. The descriptive data was analyzed using numbers and percentages. The major findings included its existence, impact on social media and strategies to mitigate irresponsible usage of Deepfake technology. A wider and larger diverse community using social media extensively will provide better results
