Soil Fertility Detection and Crop Prediction using IoT and Machine Learning
India has huge agriculture heritage. This is the major source of livelihood for most Indian families. Farmers are seen to use fertilizers in inappropriate proportion to enhance crop yield which results in infertile land. To overcome this issue, to check the fertility level of the soil, environment conditions and predicting suitable crop and fertilizers required is need of hour. Soil fertility depends on nutrients like Nitrogen (N), Phosphorous (P), and Potassium (K). It is also affected by environmental factors such as temperature, moisture, humidity, etc. The proposed system provides a cost-effective solution using IoT and Machine Learning based approach to check the NPK concentration present in the soil. Based on which, user can predict the soil suitable crop. The technique used comprises an integrated light transmission and detection system which consists of three LEDs with different wavelengths. Photodiode (LDR sensor module) is used for light detection purposes. The output obtained from the photodiode is handled using a Arduino UNO microcontroller. Based on the inputs received from LDR module, NPK concentration can be evaluated. The model is trained with the Crop Prediction dataset to predict the crop using LightGBM algorithm. The proportion of NPK nutrients and the predicted crop is sent to the user as a text message through the GSM module and ThingSpeak cloud platform
Service for Breast Cancer Patients in Cancer Hospital During COVID-19 Pandemic
This research aimed to study services during COVID-19 pandemic. A Retrospective Study was undertaken among 1,901 new breast cancer patients who had been treated with surgery, chemotherapy, or radiotherapy at Cancer Hospital during 2018–2021. Data were collected from the Thai cancer base program and the Thai hospital information system. All data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, One-sample T-test, and Mann Whitney U-test. The study results found that the majority of samples were female (99.4%; with average age of 53 years, S.D.=10.7), marital status or widowed or divorced (87.7%), attended primary school (23.4%), farmers (15.9%), universal insurance coverage (70.8%), stage II breast cancer (35.0%), accessed to treatment within the specified period with surgical therapy (76.4%; average waiting time 22 days, S.D.=11.9), chemical therapy (93.6%; average waiting time 24 days, S.D.=13.1), and radiation therapy (92.6%; average waiting time 26 days, S.D.=17.7). In addition, they accessed level to surgery, chemotherapy, or radiotherapy better than standard with significantly (P<0.0001). The pandemic delayed access to surgery and radiation therapy in Cancer Hospital

FLAVOR Enhancers in Food Processing: Spectrophotometric Determination of Maltol and Ethyl Maltol in Some Commercial Food Samples During Different Storage Conditions
It is important for flavor additives to maintain adequate thermal stability under high temperature conditions. Since many excellent fragrances are organic and have relatively small molecular weights, they lack thermal stability. As a result, a rapid and accurate method has been developed for simultaneous determination of maltol and ethyl maltol by reaction with iron(III) in sulfuric acid solution. This reaction was the basis for an indirect spectrophotometric method, which followed the development of the pink ferroin product (?max = 520 nm). It appears that ethyl maltol and maltol follow Beer's law at concentrations of 0.5–20.0 mg/L according to the optimized method. According to the alternative standard method, the LOD values for maltol and ethyl maltol are 0.2 mg/L and 0.3 mg/L, respectively. Commercial food samples were successfully analyzed using the proposed methods. A study was conducted to determine how different storage conditions affected the concentrations of maltol and ethyl maltol. High temperature and sunlight lead to decomposition of these two flavor enhancer concentrations more than 10%
Bridging the Gap Between Ethical AI Implementations
This paper aims to investigate the existence of artificial intelligence (AI) and its employment has been around for decades, and while it has optimized and advanced various domains of human labour, its developing capabilities have gradually extended into sectors that involve human behaviour and cognition. Naturally, its rapid integration into fields that require unique human behavior, such as creative writing in educational settings, critical thinking, empathetic communication in therapeutic contexts, and many more, has raised ethical issues and concerns from many different aspects throughout the years. In this paper, the ethical implications of AI across various domains and its consequences on societal values, privacy considerations, and human rights are thoroughly examined. Moreover, it highlights the need for robust guidelines, criticizing current frameworks for their lack of enforceability. Examining real-world cases, like IBM Watson's errors and Tesla's autopilot incidents, the paper stresses the urgency for practical and enforceable solutions. A systematic literature review methodology was applied to identify, evaluate, and synthesize existing literature on AI ethics, encompassing aspects like education, healthcare, and social interaction. The findings show the urgent need for robust ethical frameworks that prioritize societal values, privacy, and human rights
Suicidal Ideation Detection from social media: A Detailed Review of Machine Learning and Deep Learning
Social networks are crucial tools for learning about people's attitudes towards various issues since they allow them to express their thoughts to friends and family. Recent years have seen considerable challenges in natural language processing (NLP) and psychology regarding the detection of suicidal ideation via online social network analysis. The complex early signs of suicide ideations can be identified with the proper use of social media information, which can afterwards save many lives. Even though numerous strategies have been used over the past few decades to identify suicidal thoughts, machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) methods offer more insightful results. So, in this study, we examine several cutting-edge ML and DL approaches for detecting suicidal ideation. We also observe a few significant issues in the entire corpus of literature that could be explored in further research. Finally, we hope this study will shed light on critical issues in identifying suicidal thoughts on social media for readers and ML and DL researchers
Analysis of Information and Communication Technologies and Digital Competences in Professors and Undergraduate Students
We can observe changes made during and post pandemic according to the use of digital tools to achieve education at all levels, this was at the beginning a hard reality for not being able to help all students from different nations who were not prepared in this way. This research had as general objective, to analyze and understand the use of ICT and the development of digital competences of professors and undergraduate students in times of pandemic of a particular university in Cusco, 2023. The study was of qualitative approach, with a basic type and descriptive design at a phenomenological level. The data collection technique applied was the in-depth interview, working with 6 professors and 6 students in total. In order to obtain the results, the inductive method was implemented for the information analysis of the two study categories; triangulation was carried out considering the students- professors -researcher. As results, it was obtained that the educational stakeholders have been forced to use digital tools to continue with their teaching or learning process; during the pandemic, the computer, laptop, tablet or cellphone were the devices applied by professors and students; using a series of software and platforms. To access to ICT, professors and students solved the problem of the internet through their own resources, the digital services they accessed were the ERP system and the virtual platform to continue with the classes
Descriptive Analysis of University Enrollment Trends in Colombia between 2014 and 2022
During the study period between 2014 and 2022, a 9.5% increase in the number of university students enrolled in Colombia was observed, with a total of 419,940 new enrollees. The objective of this research was to analyze trends and cycles in university enrollments, focusing on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the growth of the virtual modality. The methodology included analyzing data from the National Higher Education Information System (SNIES) and performing calculations to evaluate variations in enrollments over the years. The results allowed visualizing the enrollment cycles between private and official sector universities, highlighting that the pandemic generated a significant decrease in enrollments in 2020, mainly affecting private universities. An increase in the gap between enrollment in the official and private sector was observed, with the latter losing ground. The virtual modality experienced exponential growth in the last 8 years and as a result of the pandemic became an important factor in the university enrollment market, especially in graduate programs in the private sector and undergraduate programs in the formal sector. In summary, the study reveals the transformation of the university enrollment landscape in Colombia, due to changes in student preferences between sector and mode of study. These findings may be valuable for decision making in educational institutions and provide a deeper understanding of trends in higher education in the Colombian context

BIM-Based Time and Cost Tracking of Construction Projects Taking Quality Management into Consideration
: The construction industry has long suffered from the lack of time and cost tracking systems that take the impact of quality issues into account. Accordingly, emphasizing the integration of Earned Value Management (EVM) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) taking quality management into consideration has become a crucial requirement. The main objectives of this study are to address quality management into BIM and enhance monitoring of project's time and cost performance via addressing the effect of quality issues in order to support making the proper decisions to restore the original plan's progress. Using the capabilities of Application Programming Interface (API) and C# as a powerful programming language, this enhancement is achieved by the development of a BIM-based model including three plugins: Bill of Quantity (BOQ) estimator, Quality inspector, and EVM controller. BOQ estimator tool includes data about element's ID, the corresponding category, geometric properties and the corresponding cost details. Quality inspector tool includes, for project activities as well as elements making up each activity, the related most recent quality status from on-site records. On the other hand, EVM Calculator tool represents the core of the mathematical model that includes planned/budgeted data, actual data and results of EVM analysis providing performance indices and cost/time variances. In this paper, authors focus on providing details about the mathematical model developed to implement EVM Calculator tool via combining the effect of task's quality status on EVM variables. The proposed mathematical approach is validated using four different simulation scenarios. Results of the proposed model were compared with those obtained (and then revised to reflect the effect of quality status on task's/project's time and cost) using primavera P6. The results on comparison show the efficiency of the developed model providing an opportunity to address the effect of quality issues into EVM analysis that would reduce calculation time and eliminate chances of human errors associated with altering of results
