    Definition of Urban, Highway and Combined Driving Cycles for the city of Quito - Ecuador

    The use of driving cycles is a widely accepted method for evaluating fuel consumption and vehicle emissions under specific local conditions. The primary objective of this study was to obtain updated driving cycles that reflect the characteristics of the city of Quito, Ecuador, during peak hours using electronic means to gather driving parameters. To achieve this, the OBD2 ELM327 module and its corresponding mobile application, Car Scanner ELM OBD2, were utilized to record, store, and export real-time data for variables such as vehicle speed, fuel consumption, distance traveled, and travel time, among others, in three zones: urban, highway, and combined. This information enables a comprehensive understanding of the level of vehicle mobility and fuel consumption during peak hours in each zone. The resulting speed vs. time graphs for the selected routes demonstrate the lowest mobility and highest consumption in the urban zone in comparison to the highway and combined zones in terms of kilometers traveled

This paper presents a comprehensive study on the design framework, analysis, and modeling of WSNs for health monitoring systems. The primary objective of this research is to develop a robust and efficient framework for the real-time monitoring and management of health-related data. The paper first provides a thorough background on WSNs, highlighting their significance in modern monitoring systems. It discusses the limitations of existing health monitoring solutions and presents the rationale for proposing a novel framework. The design framework outlined in this paper encompasses both hardware and software components, emphasizing the selection of appropriate sensors, communication protocols, data aggregation techniques, and power management strategies. The paper also addresses the specific requirements of health monitoring in diverse applications, considering factors like sensor placement and data management. To evaluate the proposed framework's performance, the paper introduces mathematical models and simulations, which assess the system's energy consumption, latency, and reliability. Additionally, it presents the outcomes of real-world case studies and experiments that validate the effectiveness of the framework. Results and discussions within the paper emphasize the comparative advantages of the proposed framework over existing systems and highlight the potential implications for health monitoring applications.     Financial Effects of Other Comprehensive Income on Smes in Medellín - Colombia

    The other comprehensive income as an equity component is a fundamental part of the financial information with the application of international accounting standards. The main objective of this article was to analyse the financial effects of other comprehensive income in SMEs in Medellín - Colombia. To meet this objective, a methodology was used that included the selection of a representative sample of 137 companies classified as SMEs from a total population of 16,553 business registers. In addition, an instrument designed to analyse the financial effects of other comprehensive income in this type of company was applied.The results of the study indicate that one of the effects of ORI on the financial statements is the conception of realised and unrealised income and expenses and their immediate and future effect on the financial life of the company, thus, ORI items represent movement in equity that do not derive from transactions with partners or shareholders; they affect the statements of changes in equity and comprehensive income. Likewise, ORI impacts financial indicators related to solvency, profitability, indebtedness as indebtedness over total assets, debt concentration, leverage indebtedness. The analysis of the results allows us to conclude that the implementation of the ORI in SMEs in Medellín brings key benefits. Among these, the improvement in transparency stands out, as it provides detailed information on items that were not traditionally included in the income statement. This increased transparency is of great importance, as it contributes significantly to building confidence among investors and stakeholders, strengthening the perception of SMEs' financial operations. The inclusion of ORI in financial reporting has a positive impact on informed decision-making by SMEs in Medellín. This is because it allows SMEs to provide investors and managers with a more complete and accurate view of their financial performance. This improved information becomes a strategy that empowers SMEs to adjust their operations as needed, thus ensuring their long-term sustainability

    Statistical Analysis of COD and BOD Removal from Dairy Waste Water

    One of most water polluted industry is Dairy industry. It produces various milk products like milk powder, butter milk, curd, cheese, pasteurized milk etc. More amount of fresh water is used for different purposes i.e., cooling/heating, sanitary, processing, utilities and service section during milk processing and production of different milk products. It is observed from a report that for processing 1L of milk, the Dairy industries produce 2.5 to 10L of waste water. Major pollutants found in dairy waste water are Organic components like dissolved sugars, carbohydrates, proteins and fat are found as the major pollutants in the Dairy waste water. Apart from organic compound some inorganic compounds like Sulfur, Phosphorous and Nitrogen are also found. Hence, the dairy wastewater is having large amount of organic matter that can be measured in term of BOD and COD.  As it is having pungent odor and is responsible for fly generation, it should be treated properly before disposal. In this present work, the synthetic dairy waste water was prepared and was treated with activated carbon prepared from coconut shell collected from temple side. The activated carbon prepared from Coconut shell CGAC could be able to remove COD and BOD of the used water up to satisfactory level at different bed height and contact time. This paper shows the statistical analysis of COD and BOD using the activated carbon. In the experiment, the standard deviation of maximum removal efficiency of COD and BOD from the dairy wastewater was found as 0.59 and 0.49, respectively

    Organizational Support and Emotional Intelligence on The Performance of Police Members Job Satisfaction Mediated and Emotional Personnel

    We studied the impact of organizational support and Emotional Intelligence on the performance, job satisfaction, and emotions of Southeast Sulawesi Mapolda Police members. Using cluster proportional random sampling and SEM-PLS techniques, we analyzed data from 288 individuals. Our findings demonstrate the significant influence of organizational support and Emotional Intelligence on the performance, job satisfaction, and emotions of police members. Job satisfaction and personnel emotions have positive and significant impacts on performance, while emotional Intelligence has a positive and significant impact on job satisfaction, emotions, and performance. Our study highlights the importance of anger management as an integral part of organizational support for police members. Overall, our research provides a thoughtful insight into the impact of organizational support and Emotional Intelligence on police members and inspires further investigation into this crucial topic

    The results of the study of pharmacological studies of the recommended tablets “Ortof-S” by the method “carrageenan paw edema in rats” are presented. The first stage of the study, the anti-inflammatory effect of the compared drugs “Ortof-S”, manufactured by LLC “SAMO”, Uzbekistan and “Ketaneym”, manufactured by “NEOUNIVERSE LLP”, London, UK, was studied by the method of “carrageenan paw edema in rats” anti-inflammatory activity bioavailability is to determine the solubility or release time of the drug from the medicinal forms. It was found that the solubility test characterizes the biological availability of the drug in the first approximation, since in practice there is a very frequent correlation between the rate of dissolution and absorption.     Comparative Study on the Impact of Sand and Lime on the Physical and Mechanical Characteristics of Unfired and Fired Earth Bricks

    Earth bricks represent one of the most important and widely used building materials in current era, due to its unique physical and mechanical properties compared to other materials. Earth bricks are available in two main types: raw earth bricks and fired bricks. The physical and mechanical properties differ for each type, which affects their performance in various applications and their long-term durability. Several studies have been conducted to improve the properties of raw and fired bricks and address their weaknesses. In this research, we aim to investigate the effects of adding dune sand and lime on the physical and mechanical properties of raw earth and fired bricks, and compare the results. Sand was added by 25%, while lime was added by 0, 6, 8, 10, and 12% of the soil matrix weight. Initially, we determined the properties of the raw materials used. After creating the samples, they underwent tests for bulk density, longitudinal shrinkage, compressive strength, and flexural strength. The study revealed the positive impact of adding sand on the physical and mechanical properties of raw and fired bricks. It contributed to reducing the bulk density and longitudinal shrinkage of the samples, while increasing their compressive and flexural strength to varying extents. The results also showed the positive effect of lime on the physical and mechanical properties of raw bricks, as long as it was added at a ratio not exceeding 10%. However, the addition of lime to fired bricks affected the physical properties positively but it has a negative effect on the mechanical properties.  &nbsp

    Turbidity Removal from a Model Solution by Continuous Mode Electrocoagulation and Evaluation of Energy Consumption

    The purpose of the research has been the construction of a new electrocoagulation (EC) equipment and its technical evaluation in the treatment of a model solution with a high level of turbidity. The EC system contains six cells installed in series, coupled to a flocculator and a clarifier (sludge decanter), each cell unit is composed of a cylindrical aluminum (Al) anode and a solid stainless-steel rod as cathode in connection with a DC power supply, the aluminum anodes are replaced by iron (Fe) according to the proposed tests. The influence of two factors, such as the applied electric potential and the type of electrode used, on turbidity removal performance, total dissolved solids (TDS) and electrical energy consumption were examined. The tests were carried out using a two-factor factorial design, electrical potential at (0, 3, 6 and 9 V) and type of anode (aluminum and iron). The investigation of the operating parameters was carried out in continuous mode. The initial turbidity of the water to be treated was set at 84.5 NTU, a value generally found in surface water. The results showed that the best conditions for turbidity removal were at an electrical potential of nine volts reaching a removal of 82.29 % and an energy consumption for aluminum electrodes of 0.7142 kWh/m3. It is also observed that the value of total dissolved solids after treatment is still slightly high. In conclusion, electrocoagulation with Al/steel electrodes proved to be an appropriate technology for water treatment due to its turbidity removal efficiency and low electrical energy consumption. &nbsp

    Judicial Pardon of Punishment: An Evaluative and Comparative Review

    Unlike other laws, under the UAE Code of crimes and punishments No. (31) of 2021, the concept of judicial pardon of punishment refers to the legal authority vested in a judicial system to grant forgiveness or leniency to individuals who have been found guilty of a crime. Judicial pardon serves as a mechanism for eliminating the prescribed penalties for certain offenses. Comparative analysis reveals that the granting of a judicial pardon is typically based on a range of factors, such as the nature of the offense, the severity of the punishment, the individual's behavior, the presence of extenuating circumstances, and considerations of justice and fairness. It allows the judicial system to exercise discretion and flexibility in recognizing cases where the application of the prescribed punishment may be deemed unnecessary or where rehabilitation and reintegration into society have been successfully demonstrated. The decision to grant or deny a pardon rests within the discretion of the judiciary, considering the best interests of society, the rights of victims, and the individual's potential for reform. Thus, pardoning punishment can have significant implications for the convicted individual, as it offers the opportunity for a fresh start and a second chance at rebuilding their life. Yet, the analysis indicates that there is room for improving the legal structure of judicial pardon under the UAE Law and points out towards some possible deeper structure reforms

    The Impact of FinTech on Profitability: An Analysis of Determinants in Banks of Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region

    This study analyzed FinTech’s influence on MENA’s banking sector. This paper collected the data from Refinitiv Eikon platform and the bank’s annual reports, provided on the different Stock Exchanges websites. Our sample included Seven Countries namely; Qatar (7 Banks), United Arab Emirates (16 Banks), Kuwait (10 Banks), Egypt (10 Banks), Jordan (11 Banks), Saudi Arabia (10 Banks) and Turkey (9 Banks). Specifically, 73 Banks in the MENA region has been collected during the period 2014-2021 to investigate the impact of Fintech on Banks profitability. The model developed included several independent variables, such as the number of ATM machines, internet banking, size, growth and mobile application’s availability, while the dependent variable is profitability (Return on Assets). The model used was estimated using panel regression (fixed and random effect techniques), Hausman test favored the fixed effect results. The results indicated that the number of ATM machines affects the bank’s performance negatively. This suggests that the higher the number of ATM machines, the lower the performance, since the higher cost related to the usage of such machines with no charge of usage. However, internet banking, mobile applications and size affect Return on Assets positively. &nbsp
