    The Impact of Construction Activities Near the Gulf: The Likelihood of Construction Materials Effect, ERA and Sustainable Development

    The environmental risks associated with construction activities are being monitored, especially given the global construction boom, in which the United Arab Emirates is a major participant. Construction activities near Gulf water cause variations in the ecosystem, yet whilst the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has given much attention to environmental risks resulting from construction material during construction activities to streams and rivers, there has been limited exploration of those risks in the Gulf. This research paper aims to identify the best practices in Environmental Risk Assessment (ERA) in order to contribute towards the achievement of sustainable development. Specifically, the objective is to determine the relationship between the parameters of water quality (turbidity and pH) that affect the ecosystem during construction activities in the hot summer and to frame effective ERA, to pursue this aim, 32 water samples were collected from the Gulf water in two locations; the first adjacent by 12 m to the Gulf and at a 500 m distance from the second, inactive location in Abu Dhabi city, UAE.  All these water samples were taken during the peak time of construction activities, and after six hours of no activities, taking into consideration the weather conditions. Samples were tested in the environmental laboratory within 24 hours.  The temperature is particularly considered to predict future levels of variation and consider risks that will affect such areas and seasons. The results indicate that a maximum turbidity level of 25.2 NTU (Nephelometric Turbidity Units) was noticed when the temperature was 43°C and pH 5.9 at the active construction. Hence a strong relationship between turbidity, pH, and temperature and their impacts on the water quality of the Gulf during construction activities is revealed. Outcomes are promising in effective risk management for sustainable development of the Gulf ecosystem during construction activities. The study demonstrates the need for a successful risk management framework to focus on the construction material management treatment that can decrease turbidity and adjust pH in the Gulf water near active construction. In addition, managing statistics of the communities residing near the Gulf and re-evaluating environmental risks are crucial

    Nigeria's Multilateral Approach in West Africa: A Case Study of Cote D'Ivoire Electoral Violence

    This study interrogates the role of Nigeria through the multilateral organizations in West Africa with a particular reference to Cote d'Ivoire's elections crisis from 2010 to 2011. The violence occurred due to President Gbagbo's refusal to concede power to the election winner, Allassane Ouattara. However, through the influence of the multilateral organizations, Nigeria intervened and returned Cote d'Ivoire to democratic stability. Consequently, this study critically analyzed the role of Nigeria through the multilateral approach in Cote d'Ivoire's electoral violence. It also assessed how the use of Nigeria's relative material preponderances contributed to quelling the violence. This study used historical and exploratory qualitative techniques from the extant literature of high-ranking bodies. Thus, the initial literature search brought many articles, books, reports, and newspapers and selected only those with the needed historical and analytical depth in line with the subject matter. Also, role theory was applied in this study to aid analysis, and the data source for this study was analyzed thematically. The study found that the Cote d'Ivoire election crisis was animated due to former president Gbagbo's refusal to give power to the winner, Ouattara. Further findings revealed that the constitutional court illegally nullified Ouattara's legitimate votes favouring President Gbagbo. Also, the concept of national identity or Ivorite compounded the problems of the violence. This study will benefit researchers in the field of political science, international relations, and policymakers. Finally, other areas for future research include Nigeria's roles through the multilateral organization in other parts of West Africa

    Companies frequently turn to project management systems for advice with the ongoing data growth caused by stakeholders throughout a product life cycle. The team will be able to communicate more effectively, plan their next moves, have an overview of the current project state, and act before the projections are delivered with project-oriented business intelligence approaches. These technologies are becoming even more beneficial as agile working mindsets proliferate. It establishes a fundamental concept of how the project should function so that the implementation is simple to use and follow. Teams and the potential for economic generation are held back by the high project failure rates brought on by inadequate project planning. The advancement of Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) methodologies has greatly benefited business and project management. To assist project managers in planning their projects and evaluating risks, we have examined techniques that help them anticipate potential hazards when planning their project milestones based on their prior experiences. The system's three components are the database, the web-based platform, and the machine learning core. To do this, we applied a variety of artificial intelligence techniques. Our system must be able to do risk analysis as quickly as is practical and provide project managers with recommendations using the least amount of data necessary. This article thoroughly analyses much research that has addressed the use of machine learning in software project management. This study thoroughly analyses the literature on three critical subjects: software project management, machine learning, and methods from Web Science, Science Directs, and IEEE Explore. There are 111 papers divided into four categories in these three archives. Our contribution also offers context and a broader viewpoint, essential for potential project risk management initiatives

    External Filtered Modes of a Quantum Dot Laser Under the Influence of Double-Filtered Optical Feedback

    When semiconductor lasers SLs are exposed to filtered optical feedback (FOB), they behave in two different ways. Under weak or strong feedback, the first is a singularly stable longitudinal mode with a small linewidth. The second is the so-called coherence breakdown condition, which also includes low frequency fluctuations (LFF) and chaotic oscillations. The latter has received a lot of attention recently due to the possible uses of chaotic lasers in chaotic lidar, covert communications, and chaotic correlation time-domain optical reflectometers, while the former has received a lot of research in recent years. We investigate the behavior of a quantum dot (QD) semiconductor laser subject to FOF from two separate external cavities both, numerically and experimentally. Our findings show that the second FOF allows for rich adjustment of the laser frequency. Our analysis of double-filtered optical feedback (DFOF) lasers is on fundamental solutions, sometimes referred to as continuous waves (CW) or external filtering modes (EFM), which result in a QD laser output with constant amplitude and frequency. The time delay suppression is dependent on the spectral width  of the filter and how far it is from the solitary laser frequency, according to numerical calculations

    The Reflections of Lean Digitalization in Indian MSMEs: A Case Study

    Lean production is very widely used and thoroughly tested approach among various enterprises for many decades, its motive is to remove non-value-added activities (waste) from the value stream and make the system highly optimized and efficient. Industry 4.0 is combination of technology driven applications that merge the traditional physical industry to cyber word with the use of digital technology, IoT and sensors etc. In today’s highly competitive and volatile market scenarios it is very hard to fulfill the consumer demands and to produce highly customized quality product, without applications of integrated lean principles and industry 4.0 technologies. This combination known as lean 4.0, is not a replacement for either Industry 4.0 or Lean, but rather a way to improve the performance of the industrial sector. This study looks at how lean manufacturing principles can be used with Industry 4.0 to help India's hard-hit Micro, Small, and Medium-Enterprises (MSMEs). The concepts of lean 4.0 were tested in selected Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises at the NCR region in India. Different parameters of productivity and customer satisfaction index has been compared after traditional lean and lean 4.0 implementation, there is a significant improvement has been observed as a result, another aim of this study is to put effort to persuade MSMEs to accept this fusion in order to boost productivity, quality and customer satisfaction

    Study on Heavy Metal Removal Rates According to Lithium Content in Post-Use Induction Top Plate Comminuted Powder

    This study investigated the liquid-phase adsorption reactions of heavy metal ions (Pb, Cd, Cr6+, Hg) in wastewater using post-use Li2O-Al2O3-SiO2 crystalline glass derived from induction top plate materials. The heavy metal ion adsorption characteristics were compared using samples before and after the Li removal process in LAS sample. The amount of zeolite used as an adsorbent, adsorption time, concentration of heavy metal elements, and pH were examined for their effects on adsorption capacity. Lithium-removed zeolite demonstrated an average improvement of 30% in heavy metal adsorption ability compared to conventional LAS zeolite. As the amount of zeolite added increased, the heavy metal adsorption removal rate also increased. Adsorption reaction time significantly influenced adsorption characteristics, with a notable improvement in the removal rate of Cd. Additionally, the adsorption removal rate of Cd increased with increasing pH, while that of Pb and Cr6+ decreased. The adsorption characteristics of Hg were not significantly affected by pH

    Legal research has methods like research in general. The process of legal research is adjusted to the legal events that occur. Legal research can be seen from various aspects. The purpose of writing this article is to describe the types, approaches, research data, data collection techniques, and data analysis methods in legal research. This research uses a conceptual approach which is still within the scope of the normative approach because it only examines the opinions that develop in the research method. The results of this study indicate that the type of legal research is divided into field research using primary data and library research using secondary data. Approaches in legal research are divided into normative, empirical, and philosophical approaches. Data in legal research is grouped into primary data which is obtained directly, and secondary data which is referred to as legal material. Data collection techniques depend on the type of research and data; Primary data was collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, participation, and experimentation. Secondary data was obtained through offline and online searches. Methods of data analysis can be done qualitatively and quantitatively. Qualitative data analysis used content analysis, narrative analysis, discourse analysis, and interactive analysis methods.     This study focused on Islamic banks' adherence to Sharia controls when executing contracts, and the focus was on the most common debt contracts, which are contracts that all banks (Islamic and conventional banks) compete for. What distinguishes Islamic banks from traditional ones is the commitment to Sharia controls in Islamic banks. The most important results were that the motive for dealing with Islamic banks is religious motive, and that Islamic banks adhere to Sharia controls when drafting contracts, but their employees do not adhere to these controls when executing contracts. Islamic banks focus their investment efforts on debt contracts and on the youth category with fixed incomes, least riskiness, and not to focus on other Islamic contracts (Mudarabah, Musharaka, ...) that are riskier. There is no relationship between the type of contract and the extent of compliance with Sharia controls when executing contracts in Islamic banks

    An Improved Genetic Algorithm for Scheduling Sensor Nodes in WSN

    The extended lifetime of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is an attractive goal for various types of research. This can be achieved if not all sensor nodes in the network consume their energy; this is because the energy consumption of every sensor node is a vital resource for a WSN. The scheduling techniques have recently enticed the interest of the researchers’ community, as they provide the ability to adjust a set of nodes in sleep mode instead of activating all sensor nodes. However, we consider the sensors that were selected to be in sleep mode, which will not affect network coverage for any target or full connectivity. In this paper, the genetic algorithm has been used to build efficient scheduling for the sensor nodes, which were based on multiple objectives in the fitness function, and we have proposed improved mutation and crossover operations. Then, we evaluate our approaches in a target tracking application compared with previous GA approaches. Our simulations show that we have an optimal chromosome that contains a minimum number of active sensor nodes for scheduling within 3-5 iterations

    The Effect of Speaking Anxiety on EFL Saudi Learners' Performance

    Anxiety plays a significant role in students' oral performance and achievement in EFL speaking classes. This study applied a mixed-method approach using a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews in order to investigate tertiary level students' English language anxiety at Najran University. It also examines its main causes. In addition, it explores the effects of anxiety on students' performance in EFL classrooms and the role of gender differences on the level anxiety. The study reveals that the main factors that contribute to EFL speaking anxiety among Saudi EFL students are fear of negative evaluation, fear of interaction, fear of perception of others and lack of confidence, respectively. The study also found that female students were more anxious compared to male students in EFL speaking classrooms. In addition, it showed a negative connection between FLA and students' performance in speaking classes in that high-level anxiety students experience poor speaking performance. The study implicates the role of speaking teachers in reducing the anxiety among students. &nbsp
