Experimental Investigations of the Removal of Methylene Blue from Waste Water using Agricultural Adsorbant

    Get PDF
Abstract: The colored organic or inorganic chemical compounds which can impart colour to other substance are the Dyes which did significant applications in the most industrial sectors like the textile industry, leather industry, paper industry, plastic, foodstuff industry etc, to impart color to their products. Due to the large volume of dye use in these businesses, a significant quantity of wastewater containing colored organics is generated. Because of insufficient dye-fiber fixation, during the dyeing process, half of the dye is lost in the wastewater. Peanut and rice husk are used to absorb MB from water. Initial Methylene Blue concentration, Peanut and Rice Husk dose, and pH were monitored and compared to current adsorbents to identify the optimal removal conditions. The equilibrium amount of MB adsorbed at time t (min) for rice husk and peanut hull are obtained as 5.1 and 5.19 mg/g respectively. As part of the research, an intra-particle diffusion model was implemented to regulate the mass transfer model's rate-controlling step mechanism. Keywords: Waste Water, Methylene Blue, Peanut Hull, Rice Husk, Adsorption

The Potential Profitability of Poultry Farm: A Case of Mini Poultry Farm Feasibility of Tawi-Tawi Regional Agricultural College: Tarawakan Campus

    No full text
It was a school-based research project examining the viability of a farm producing Mini-Poultry broilers on the Tawi-Tawi Regional Agricultural College Tarawakan campus. As input costs and point-of-sale prices changed, potential profitability was assessed using sensitivity analysis. This was decided based on the growth rate, survival, and return on investment of the grown chicken. Running down the data using Statistics for Applied Science (SAS) produced a P-value of 0.131927, showing a linear trend with a minor deviation. As the number of chicks rises, profitability generally rises as well, or it stays the same if the quantity is maintained. This practical study boosts the output and incomes of locals who sell live chicken meat. It also continuously contributes to improving local bird production as it creates supplemental feed at its own feed mill using increasingly inventive techniques and primarily local products. As an alternative to expensive feed sold by feed millers, which has a lower "nutrient density" balanced for all nutrients but low energy due to the inclusion of low-energy ingredients like cassava leaf meal, acacia fruit meal, and swam cabbage mixed with commercial broiler diets, the small flocks of poultry are fed on "Domestic but improvised Feed." Due to the increased demand for meat with very small starting flocks that are then sold for growth under the traditional extensive system achieved by better health care, backyard village poultry flock producers are now transitioning into relatively small-scale or mini poultry chicken producer

Challenges of Translating Slang Expressions in American Song Lyrics of the 21st Century into the Arabic Language

    No full text
Slangs are phrases that have strong roots in the culture of a given social and cultural stratum; translating them is challenging. Slang is a kind of daily socio-linguistic manifestation that emerges from a particular socio-cultural or socio-economic group's efforts to codify its members' ideology or mental projections. Slang refers to a language or set of words that are widely used but seldom defined. This study is an Arabic translation of slang used in 21st-century American songs. The research also examines how the slang was translated and the attributes that made them practical communication tools. Arabic speakers learning American English will benefit most from this concentration on slang and its context. The analysis is carried out through the thematic analysis method based on an apparent qualitative study. Twenty (20) slang terms borrowed from 21st-century American pop songs were adapted to be translated into Arabic. The study's data consists of slang expressions in the song lyrics of two American hip-hop/rap singers, Eminem and Wiz Khalifa. Marshal Mathers II by Eminem (2013) and Khalifa by Wiz Khalifa (2016) were picked as the only albums by each artist. To communicate with native Arabic speakers, the researcher modified the English-Arabic Translator used for superficial translation. Functional equivalents, social equivalents, modulations, substitution, and paraphrases are the main translation strategies adopted in translating the selected slang into formal Arabic. Based on the thematic evaluation, it was discovered that paraphrasing is the most effective strategy for translating American slang into Arabic. Consequently, the research shows that the meanings of slang terms are affected by context and situational variability. The conclusion is that slang plays a significant part in a conversation. To utilize it fully, learners must be familiar with their contexts and interpretations

Strategic Commitment by Sultanate of Oman towards 2050 Net-Zero Emission: Current Environmental Initiatives and Future Needs

    No full text
Global warming is a major concern to humanity due to its massive environmental impact. Studies emphasize low-carbon issues such as emissions policy, carbon taxation, carbon emissions trading, and emissions accounting and reduction (Gao et al., 2014). This paper will cover one of the main commitments towards environmental protection, which is 2050 net zero emissions. Many countries have set this target to show a clear commitment to reducing their CO2 and other greenhouse gases (GHGs) to zero in the coming 30 years. Yet the main question here would these targets be aspirational or realistic? If the goals are aspirational, does this encourage more effort, or will it make the public and investors even more critical of the government if they fail? How does the mission to maintain average temperature increases below 2C or, preferably, 1.5C by 2100 relate to the net zero by 2050 goal? In October 2022, Oman joined the current effort to protect the environment and reach net zero by 2050. The country has already implemented many environmental measures; however, more effort is required to achieve the net-zero emission target. In addition, the paper will outline and investigate the current global efforts to meet the commitment. Also, it will cover the current environmental work conducted in Oman. The paper will also evaluate the challenges and requirements to reach net zero in Oman

Social Worker through the Lens of Professional Competences in the Czech Republic

    No full text
Each profession has its own requirements, legal norms and we also work with the personal aspect of the worker. This professional text provides a description of the professional nature of the social worker in the Czech Republic and points out the developments that should reflect the upcoming changes. So what are the prerequisites for performing social work? Of course, we are aware that in the application of the situational approach, the personal setting of the social worker is only one side of the coin, the other side being the organisational and legislative conditions for the performance of social work by a given worker. However, based on our findings, it appears that personal setting plays a slightly more significant role. Since 2006, the Czech Republic has had legislation regulating the nature of social services, and in view of the reflection, there is new talk of necessary changes

Deconstruction Analysis for Children Literature: Investigating Patriarchy in Indonesian Folktales

    No full text
This study aims to investigate the dominant issues of patriarchy in Indonesian folktales by utilizing Derrida's deconstruction concept. Five folktales chosen as objects of the study, and data collection did by document analysis. The findings then analyzed qualitatively by applying Derrida’ deconstruction concept as proposed by Barry that involves verbal, textual, and linguistic analysis to investigate the existence of patriarchy issues in the objects of the study. The results show that dominant patriarchal issues found in the folktales describe about labeling for women, violence against women, and male domination in cultural institutions and social life. Since the transcendental aspects considered problematic regarding the development of mental, moral, emotional, intellectual, and social skills in children, further deconstruction recommended to eliminate or to minimize the taboo issues, labeling, adult’ issues, and violence against women found in the folktales. Hence, to keep the folktales interesting and meaningful for todays’ children as the target audience of folktales, deconstruction in the form of a simple parody is highly recommended by enriching the texts with interesting pictures or illustrations, considering the use of simple yet communicative expressions, and focusing the themes about friendship, collaboration, and adventure relevant for children

The analysis and discussion of the onboard diagnostic data will help understand the driver's behavioral characteristics and develop a sustainable transportation system. The research content of this paper is to mine the driving behavior data through the vehicle preload equipment, analyze the factors affecting safe driving and establish a prediction model. This study collected data from 50 Taiwanese drivers while operating in heavy traffic. Understand the driver's behavioral characteristics through data analysis, such as calculating the times of the driver's emergency braking is based on the driving speed. From this result, the index of dangerous driving is defined. In addition, the dangerous driving index and other variables were analyzed, and it was found that there was a significant relationship between dangerous driving and vehicle mileage and maximum speed. According to the results, the drive speed increases the driving risk, the mileage reduces the risk probability, and the prediction accuracy is 78.9%. Complete data needs to be collected to evaluate complete driving behavior characteristics for developing sustainable transportation goals

    Get PDF
The research paper deals with the subject of the psychological aspect in the dialogue of civilizations in terms of the types of personalities and their effects in a preface that regulates the search terms to define the psychological aspect and clarify what is meant by the dialogue of civilizations both linguistically and terminologically. Then, the researcher tackles two topics, the first is about the analysis of the psychological patterns of the interlocutors and the rules for dealing with them which subsume two requirements,  the first about the psychological patterns of the interlocutors and the second about the rules for dealing with these patterns in the civilized dialogue. The second topic, it deals with the psychological effects in the dialogue of civilizations, and there are two requirements under it as well. Thefirst concerns the negative effects, and the second the positive effects. The Research adopts the descriptive analytical approach and utilizes the topics of psychology in the practice of the dialogue of civilizations to synthesize and mix knowledge between two different fields of knowledge to establish a  construct capable of achieving cognitive integration between disciplines. Then the research paper reaches a number of conclusions, such as: The psychological patterns of interlocutors are numerous, including the nervous, the curious, the quarrelsome, and the quiet patterns. And among the rules for dealing with these patterns are: defining the psychological pattern, understanding the behavior, promoting spiritual nourishment and purity of faith, featuring discipline and psychological balance, and highlighting the need for guidance and psychological counseling.  As for the psychological effects in the dialogue of civilizations, they are divided into negative ones, such as introversion, avoidance of dialogues,   a sense of meaninglessness, the absence of goals, projecting interlocutors, and sabotaging dialogue. In contrast, the positive ones include: accepting difference, acceptance of dialogue, psychological exploration, self-review, emotional sharing, and continuous interaction. The paper recommends the need to activate the theory of psychology in the practice of the dialogues of civilizations, and to delve deeper into conducting research studies, especially the field ones to cover this topic, in order to be effective in the studies on the dialogue of civilizations.                                                                                                                          &nbsp
