Effect of Eight Weeks Aerobic Exercises on Physical and Physiological Variables among College Men
The purpose of the study was to find out the effect of eight weeks of aerobic exercise on selected physical and physiological variables among College men. To achieve this purpose, 40 male students studying in various classes were randomly selected as subjects from the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Annamalai University were randomly selected as subjects. The age of the subjects were ranged from 18 to 25 years. The subjects were further classified at random into two equal groups of 20 subjects each. Group - I underwent aerobic exercises for five days per week for eight weeks and group - II acted as control. The selected criterion variables namely muscular endurance, cardio-respiratory endurance and resting pulse rate were assessed before and after the training period. The collected data were statistically analysed by using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). Effect of Basketball Specific Endurance Circuit Training on Body Composition and Aerobic Capacity of High School Male Basketball Players
The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a basketball specific endurance circuit training on body composition and aerobic capacity of high school male basketball players. We have selected twenty four (24) male high school basketball players were selected from Neyveli Lignite Corporation Sports School, Neyveli and St. Joseph Higher Secondary School, Manjakuppam, Cuddalore. These subjects were randomly distributed into two groups namely training group (TG: N=12) and control group (CG: N=12). The mean age of the selected players was 16.85 ± 0.67. The selected players had 3.8 ± 3.1 years of playing experience and regularly participate in training prior to the commencement of this study. Body composition and aerobic capacity were selected as dependent variables. Percent body fat, lean body mass, fat mass were measured using skinfold calliper and aerobic capacity through multi stage fitness test. TG is supplemented with basketball specific endurance circuit training was administered 3 days per week for six week. TG and CG were tested before and after six weeks of training. The collected data was evaluated using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). The result of the study showed that percent body fat, lean body mass and fat mass between the groups remained unaltered significantly, indicating that after adjusting pre-test scores, there was no significant difference between the two groups on posttest scores. However, aerobic capacity showed significant difference between the group (F = 7.890, p = 0.011) and it elicited 3.29% of changes from pre to post in training group. It is concluded that six weeks of basketball specific endurance circuit training is effective in improving aerobic capacity without altering the body composition of male high school basketball players during competitive phase
Comparison of Speed and Agility between Handball and Volleyball Players
The purpose of the study was to compare the speed and agility between handball and volleyball players of Annamalai University. We have selected thirty (30) male students who play either handball or Volleyball from Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Annamalai University. These subjects were equally classified into two groups (handball = 15 & Volleyball = 15). The selected subjects were tested on speed by 50 yard dash and agility by shuttle run which was selected as criterion variable. The collected data was analysed using independent t test to find out the significant difference between handball and volleyball players. The result of our study showed that handball players have greater speed than volleyball players (t = 5.82). However, no difference is elicited between handball and volleyball players (t = 0.82). It is concluded that speed and agility plays a vital role in both game, however handball players showed greater speed than volleyball players may be because of intermittent nature and employ sprint during attack and counter attack during the game
Effect of Strength Training Exercise on Instep Kick Performance of Soccer Players
The aim of this study was to examine the effect of lower extremity strength training exercise for twelve-week on instep kick performance of soccer players. To achieve my purpose eighty (80) amateur soccer players volunteered to participate in this study after signing informed consent forms, forty players [aged 18.0 ± 1.5 years] constituted the experimental group [EG] while the remaining forty [aged 18.0 ± 1.5 years] were the control group [CG]. The independent variable for the study is strength training exercise for twelve weeks and dependent variable is soccer instep kick ability. The strength training was administered to experimental group three days (Monday, Wednesday & Friday) per week for twelve weeks. The data were collected from control and experimental groups before and after training intervention. During pre test the data is arranged in descending order and then with the help of ABBA method the players are divided into two different groups. The groups are equated with the help of equal mean. Therefore, the data was analysed with dependent t test to elicit the difference from pre to post in each groups separately. The mean and standard deviation of the experimental and control group are presented. The result of the study showed that pre and post test difference between the groups are not significant as the obtained t value is 0.349 and 1.7111 respectively. However, in experimental group before and after twelve weeks of strength training has significantly improved the kicking ability of soccer players (t = 2.95, p = 0.0052) and control group remained unaltered ( t = 0.24, p = 0.8058). It is concluded that this training programme can be administered as part of the pre-season training of soccer players. It is approximately changes in physical fitness components particularly lower extremities have been transferred to soccer kick performance in terms of ball speed as well as technique. Investigation of Core Strength Training Induced Adaptations on Selected Physical and Physiological Parameters of Cricket Players
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of eight weeks of supervised core strength training on selected physical and physiological parameters such as muscular strength, back strength, flexibility, mean arterial pressure, vital capacity, and resting pulse rate of cricket players. For these purpose 30 male cricket players, aged 18 to 22 years took part in the study. Selected subjects were randomly assigned to either core strength training (n=15) or control (n=15) group. The training regimen lasted for eight weeks. The selected dependent variables were assessed using standard tests and procedures, before and after the training regimen. Analysis of covariance was used to determine the significant difference existing between pretest and posttest on selected dependent variables. The analysis of data revealed that eight weeks of core strength training had significant impact on selected physical and physiological parameters
Effect of Specific Table Tennis Training on the Selected Skill Performance variables of School Boys
The objective of the study is to find out the effect of specific table tennis training on the selected skill performance variables of school boys. For this study, twenty school boys were randomly selected from the S.S.M. Lakshmiammal Matric.Hr.Sec.School. Komarapalayam, Namakkal, Tamilnadu. The selected subjects were considered as only one group. The following criterion variables were selected for the study such as skill performance variables namely, target service and alternate counter. The training period would be the six weeks except Saturday and Sunday of every week. ‘t’ ratio was calculated to find out the significant of the difference between the mean of pre and post tests of the group. The level of significance for the study was chosen as 0.05. A Study on Self-Efficacy of Boxers, Weightlifters and Wrestlers
The present study was undertaken to assess and compare the self-efficacy of boxers, weightlifters and wrestlers. For this present study, total two hundred forty sportsmen of different colleges of Himachal Pradesh University were randomly drawn to act as subjects. Out of these, eighty male boxers, eighty male weightlifters and eighty male wrestlers were selected to act as subjects. Only those sportsmen were selected, who participated in inter college competitions. The Hindi version of general self-efficacy developed by S. Sud, Schwarzer and Jerusalem (1998) was used to collect data regarding self-efficacy. Mean and standard deviation, analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey Post Hoc Test were used as statistical techniques. It is found that there was significant difference regarding self-efficacy between boxers, weightlifters and wrestlers. Boxers possessed higher level of self-efficacy than weight lifters
Evaluation of Selected Anthropometric Characteristics Physical Fitness and Athletic Performance of RDT Hockey Academy adapted Schoolgirls in the Rayalasema District of Andhra Pradesh
This investigation was purported to evaluate the selected anthropometric characteristics physical fitness and athletic performance of schoolgirls adapted by RDT hockey academy in the Rayalasema district of Andhra Pradesh, India. For this reason, 547 schoolgirls from twenty-six (26) schools in four (4) different districts adapted by RDT hockey academy in the Rayalasema District of Andhra Pradesh, India were considered as subjects. These subjects were in the age group of 11 to 16 years, and they were assessed for their selected anthropometric characteristics (height, weight), physical fitness (speed, explosive power) and athletic performance (100m dash) using standardized tests and procedures. The data collected were subjected to statistical analysis by means of One-way ANOVA, and Bonferroni corrections post hoc test. The confidence interval was fixed at p<0.05 in all cases. The research findings ensure statistically considerable age difference on selected variables, and it implies that age differences influence almost all fitness parameters
Comparison of Sai Hockey Skill Test between the Players of Cbse and State Board Schools of Kashmir
The purpose of the study was to compare the SAI Hockey Skill Test between the hockey players of C.B.S.E and State board schools of Kashmir. The subjects selected for this study were 100 hockey players of two Board schools of Kashmir. Out of 100 hockey players 50 players were selected from five C.B.S.E schools and 50 players were selected from five State board schools, from each school 10 hockey players were selected for this study. The age of these players were ranged between 12 to 14 years. The criterion variables selected for this study were the three test items of SAI hockey skill test. Comparison of SAI hockey skill test between the hockey players of C.B.S.E and state board independent t ratio was applied. The result of the study showed that shooting in the target and moving with the ball showed significant difference between C.B.S.E and State board (p < 0.05). In contrast, balancing the ball on the stick showed no difference between the groups (p > 0.05). It is concluded that C.B.S.E school boys better skills in hockey than state board school boys
Effect of Plyometric Training on Agility Performance of Male Handball Players

To achieve the purpose thirty (30) male handball players were selected randomly from Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Annamalai University, Chidambaram, Tamilnadu. These players were divided into two groups namely, plyometric training group (15) and control group (15). The plyometric training group performed 2 days per week for eight weeks of plyometric training program and the control group did not perform any plyometric training. Agility of these players was measured by specific agility test T-test. The data was collected before and after training in both the groups. The collected data was analysed using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). The result of the study showed that adjusted post test mean showed significant (F = 17.96, p < 0.000) difference among the groups on agility. It elicited that 0.61sec (4.91%) improvement was noticed in plyometric training group. It is concluded that plyometric training is an effective training technique to improve male handball players agility
