Demand Management: A Critical Component in Supply Chain
Effective planning is one of the tools that affect not only the profitability of the services/goods offered, but also the very existence of the company. In recent years, there has been a steady increase in the number of books published on the subject. It is also possible to observe the use of advanced techniques for forecasting demand. This paper analyses in detail demand shaping strategies and their impact on supply chain efficiency and presents possible tools for its management. The analysis concludes that the best tolls of demand management rely on specific needs and circumstances of a business
Indonesian Local Learning Ecosystem in Energy Transition Era Ensure Wealth Stay in Local Economies
The aim of this study is to elaborate the impact of collaborative work among stakeholders in Indonesia upstream oil gas industry for create value through supply chain management by prioritizing local products. Challenges of local products are not only from qualities and quantities as per industrial demands, but also from sustainable principles that start applying by Upstream Oil Gas Industry. The implementation of sustainable principles is very important to ensure that Indonesia can fulfil the target of energy transition as mentioned on the Paris Agreement in 2015. In this moment, Indonesia oil and gas industry and supported by the Government of Indonesia already prepared the roadmap to support the energy transition by reducing emissions, applying new technology for CCU/CCUS, and emphasizing the crucial role of the supply chain sustainability. As part of supply chain management (SCM) sustainability principles, the government and industry need to prepare the local companies to support the energy transition target. The landscape of the Indonesian petroleum industry, focusing on specific regulations for local content improvement and their alignment with supply chain sustainability in the energy transition era. Indonesian oil and gas companies operate under Production Sharing Contracts (PSC) with the government. The PSC has agreed to target local content with the government during exploration and operation. To achieve this, local companies must enhance their capabilities through research and development (RD) to remain competitive and support decarbonization strategies without compromising local content and emissions reduction initiatives. This paper discusses, according to the research, local companies have limitations to get access of new technologies that will be implemented during energy transition era. Therefore, collaborative work among Government and Industries is required to ensure local companies can be ready by the time the energy transition begins. Overcoming the challenge and limitation, this paper belief that collaboration among Government, Oil Gas Company, Supporting Industries (Vendor), Financial and Education Institution in Indonesia during the energy transition has pivotal role. By fostering collaboration, embracing sustainability principles, and investing in research and development, stakeholders can create a thriving ecosystem that supports local economic growth and environmental stewardship. Successful development programs through collaboration are ultimately expected to enhance job creation for Indonesian citizens, addressing the needs of the country with large population like Indonesia

Classification and Regression Tree Model to Predict the Probability of a Product being Backordered in Supply Chain
Supply chain uncertainties pose a massive and ever-present challenge for modern companies. These uncertainties can manifest in two contrasting scenarios: supply surplus, where companies have excess items, and supply shortages, where there is an insufficient quantity of goods. Each situation demands a different approach from businesses to adapt to the varying outcomes and maintain a competitive edge in the market. Product backordering is one of the important things that companies need to deal with in an uncertain supply chain. A backorder occurs when a customer-ordered product or service is not in stock or cannot be supplied immediately, and the customer has to wait. Companies striving for a balance in managing backorders. Machine learning models can help to determine the probability of a product being backordered. In this research, we develop Classification and Regression Tree (CART) model that uses previously known parameters to predict the likelihood of a product being backordered. We also use different model parameters to evaluate the accuracy of the model
A Digital Supply Chain Model for Tourism Management in Thailand
The paper were to study and to evaluate a digital supply chain model for tourism management in Thailand. The samples in the paper study consisted of ten purposively selected experts consisted of ten experts on supply chain management, five experts on Digital Technology, Data were analysed by arithmetic mean and standard deviation. The research findings model eight elements namely main components, Suppliers, Tours Operator, Agents , Customers, Satisfaction and Feedback. The ten experts agree that a digital supply chain model for tourism management in Thailand was high suitability that mean a digital supply chain model for tourism management in Thailand to may be applied in support the tasks
Future of Supply Chain – Application of Robotics – The Flip Side of It
Abstract— This research talks about how supply chain management (SCM) is being developed using robotics and process automation, the challenges faced in the transition process, and whether such transition is desirable. While overall efficiency of the SCM process can be improved through the replacement of conventional manual jobs, such as storing, inspecting, sorting, handling, categorizing products, and data entry, the adoption of this cutting-edge technology in areas such as purchase and supply management remains dubious, unpredictable and still relatively unexplored, leaving considerable scope for further research and experimentation. Keywords— RPA, robotic, process, automation, robotic process automation, supply chain, management, SCM
A Study on Externally Driven Costs for Road Freight Transportation in Zimbabwe
The purpose of the study was to assess how external costs impacted on the overall performance of road freight transport sector in Zimbabwe. Both internal and external dynamics play a huge role on the decisions made by operators and mangers in freight transport business. Freight transport is key to socio- economic development of a country and hence there is need to scrutinize how external costs impact on the performance of such entities. This was a quantitative study of road freight transport sector across Zimbabwe with a population of 1256 registered companies and a randomly picked sample size of 384. A total of 384 questionnaires were distributed and 291 were retrieved giving a response rate of 75.6%. study found out that external costs such as accidents, traffic congestion and environmental pollution, if go unchecked have a huge impact on profitability margins due to fines for non-compliance, compensation and insurance costs. The study recommends development of a company policy document that would outline the scope and actions to be taken to ameliorate the negative impact of external costs on business performance
Influence of Dynamics of Actors and Information on the Organic Supply Chain
The agricultural sector throughout the world has seen shifting significantly by suitably using e-technology. A good number of studies have been conducted on agriculture and food security. The growth rate of world organic farming or business increases to more than the growth rate of traditional agriculture. In Bangladesh the pace of growth of organic agriculture is insignificant. The organic agriculture or organic supply chain in Bangladesh was scarcely studied. Hence, an intensive study is needed for the organic agriculture industry to pursue the organic supply chain that leads to a promising growth of organic business. A great deal of research has been conducted to explore the factors that may influence the organic supply chain and growth of the organic business. Several theories such as the diffusion of innovation theory, theory of planned behavior, marketing system and price of organic products, and quality function deployment have been studied and proposed to enhance the understanding of the issue. The integration of all these literature and theories has attracted the researcher’s attention. Thus, this study aims to explore the influence of information systems, e-technology, and the dynamics of the actors (consumer, retailer, intermediaries, transporter, farmer, and basic suppliers) on the organic supply chain enhancing the growth of the organic business. By adopting secondary data with collected data (primary data) using self-administrated questionnaires the research work was evaluated. A total of 389 responses from the organic agriculture industrial actors, consumers, and transporters were collected using stratified random sampling methods. To inspect and analyze data, Path Analysis and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) techniques were used with AMOS. The results of the study indicated that the proposed model provided a good understanding of the factors influencing the organic supply chain. From the result, it was also revealed that the organic supply chain has a significant impact on the growth of organic farming and organic consumers and the performance of organic businesses. The research objectives of this study were accomplished and all research hypotheses were supported. This study theoretically offers useful information and collected data might help to further research relevant to the organic supply chain. In addition, the study finds a way to foster a better understanding and knowledge of the organic supply chain. It is encouraged to do future research to study the factors and information and impact of the organic supply chain from various aspects. Keywords: organic supply chain, e-technology, organic agriculture, growth of organic business, SEM, AMO
