Developing Supply Chain Strategies for Enhancing the Productivity in Financial Sector: Evidence from Nigeria
This paper presents the impact of applying the supply chain strategies on the financial sector to optimize productivity and decreasing cost which will have a direct impact on the net income of the organization. The global economic situation in the last decade has left stakeholders in Nigerian financial sector struggling to meet up with profits/returns expected from them by their investors. The Nigerian financial sector has put in place a lot of mechanism to achieve their goals and one of such is reduction of employees running cost without taking into consideration the outcome of such decision at the long run. So this study proposes the effects of supply chain on the overall staff productivity in the financial sector, precisely the deposit money banks in Nigeria. The study set to test two hypotheses by means of SPSS and Spearman’s Rank Order Correlation coefficient for processing and analyzing of data collected using responses from 244 questionnaires distributed across the selected financial institutions in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria and within acceptable Cronbach Alpha value of 0.7, results were interpreted and presented. The result of the analysis showed that there is a strong significant relationship between supply chain and staff productivity. The study found that there exist a great gap between the remunerations of casual and permanent employees thus leading to job dissatisfaction and lower productivity. The study recommends that government and management should develop supports toward employees input that will promote personal well-being and proletariat productivity while protecting them from exploitation by their employers in the financial institutions
Role of Work Activities and Knowledge Sharing in Employee Sustainable Social Well-Being Along with the Moderating Role of Supply Chain Education
The objective of this study is to examine the role of work activities and knowledge sharing in employee sustainable social well-being. The moderating role of supply chain education (SCE) was also examined. Therefore, this study examined the relationship between work activities, knowledge sharing, SCE and sustainable social well-being. Population of the study is the garment companies of Indonesia. Employees of these companies were selected as the respondents. Consequently, data collection was performed among the garment companies of Indonesia. For the purpose of data collection, questionnaire was distribution among the garment company employees. Data were analyzed by using Partial Least Square (PLS). Results of the study highlighted that work activities have positive effect on sustainable social well-being. Knowledge sharing also shows the positive effect on sustainable social well-being. Moreover, SCE shows positive influence to enhance the sustainable social well-being directly and by playing the moderating role between work activities and sustainable social well-being
Application of Supply Chain Management for Ensuring Productivity of Food Products
The globalization of the trade in animals and food has made food industry effiecency an international issue, which can be achieved through the employing the supply chain management system to trach the food in production, delivery and costumers. In modern conditions of production and sale of food raw materials and food products of animal origin, it is imperative to effectively supply chain manage the veterinary system to ensure health of animals and hence safety of food products consumed by the population. State regulation of the veterinary control in the supply chain system from the production sector is a major factor for monitoring food safety, therefore legislation of each state must provide for adequate policy on veterinary services and measures to be taken to respond to potential food safety hazard. The Principles of Supply Chain Strategy and Reinventing Government Supply Chain Service in the Era of Regional Economy
Abstract- This globalization era indicate that the world community, in general, has entered the stage of the age of high mass-consumption or fifth level. So, in this condition there is a necessity for application and practice of supply chain strategies for regional companies, where there was a shift in the dominant sectors of the goods and services in line with the increase in people's income. Facing the condition of the society, it is necessary to state administration and the supply chain role in providing services is a tremendously effective, efficient and professional manner. Governments need to develop service standards for each institution in the area assigned to provide services to the community. Deregulation and Debureaucratization absolutely must continue to be done by the supply chain and local rules should be evaluated regularly to continue to satisfy the supply chain service community
Young Entrepreneur, Parental Socioeconomic Status, and Financial Literacy: Does Supply Chain Mediate Entrepreneurship Education?
The purpose of this study was to examine the differences in the financial literacy of young entrepreneurs based on parental income, parental education level, and parental profession. Supply chain management significantly and positively mediates among the relationship between parental income, parental profession, parental education level, and financial literacy. This study used survey methods. The samples of this study were young entrepreneurs or students who started businesses. This study used a different test with smart-PLS. The results of this study showed the differences in the financial literacy of young entrepreneurs based on parental income, parental education level, and parental profession. This study found that young entrepreneurs with high or medium parental income were different from young entrepreneurs with low parental income. Young entrepreneurs with parents attending higher and secondary education were different from entrepreneurs with parents who are only attending elementary school. Young entrepreneurs who have parents as employees and entrepreneurs had no differences in financial, but different when compared to parents who work as laborers
Supply Chain Strategy as the Instrument of Marketing on the Example of a Platform in the Global Information Space
Abstract— Supply chain strategy of the company is an intangible factor and its evaluation is hard to be filed in physical sense. Meanwhile, in the epoch of digital revolution, when every individual can have duplicate in global information space, we can attempt to evaluate metrics characterizing supply chain strategy on the example of online platforms. Supply chain strategy within information space is studied narrowly, through the prism of marketing researches: exceptionally as the monitoring of feedbacks, searching from the scope of messages negative ones, that is to say feedback management. From another side, among SMM specialists you can find lots of recommendations on websites promotion, laying followers up and so on, but there are so limited researches on key indicator values of results of company supply chain strategy and its reputation on economy influence. In this article we’ll attempt to evaluate supply chain strategy of company on the basis of open and available information on the example of on-line platform YouTube. On the example of successful company owners (YouTube channels), we’ll find correlation between metrics characterizing supply chain strategy and influence on results of activity - product monetization (video clips) and will define the most valuable ones. Supply chain strategy in this article is shown in new not investigated before format: as the controlling mechanism on platform. Competitive Advantage and its Supply Chain Strategy for Performance of Shipping Agents at Penang Port, Malaysia
The management of arrival and departure of ships at Penang Port needs the shipping agent for increasing global competitiveness and a source of income for developed countries. Of these, the primary purpose of this study is to analyse the relationship between competitive advantage, management knowledge, social networking and performance mediated by internationalization. A self-administered questionnaire was adopted to perform a systematic collection of data from shipping agents and shipping organisations in Penang Port. The partial least squares method was used for the conceptual framework of the study. In conclusion, the competitive advantage and performance of international shipping agents in Penang wellbeing at workplace and environment around. The presented research carefully developed and designed to fulfil the proposed objectives, but this study still has certain limitations. These limitations should be considered to accomplish practical research in the future. As mentioned, this study shipping agent a cross-sectional design. Health and Tourism: Implications of COVID-19 Pandemic to the Malaysian Travel and Hospitality Industry
Outbreaks of diseases which are contagious and can pose serious health consequences have considerable impacts on the tourism and hospitality industry. This is reflected through past outbreaks such as foot and mouth disease (FMD), SARS, Ebola and Chikungunya. Due to the importance of health in the context of tourism, it is imperative to investigate the extent of the impact of COVID-19 health pandemic as it is considered one of the worst disease outbreaks globally. Thus, this paper aims to explore the implications of Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Malaysian tourism and hospitality industry. After content analysing 63 newspaper articles published online from March to May 2020, it is uncovered that the Malaysian tourism and hospitality industry has been affected terribly by the enforcement of MCO in order to curb the spread of COVID-19 health pandemic. Stories associated with income and job losses, cancellation of Visit Malaysia 2020 campaign, closure of tourist attractions and closing down of countless of hotels were apparent in the reporting of online news. Yet, the analysis of this paper adds to the existing knowledge by revealing that despite encountering difficulty during this time of crisis, the Malaysian hospitality industry was able to show their appreciation towards medical frontliners who risk their lives to save COVID-19 patients. Some hotels demonstrate their corporate social responsibility (CSR) by offering free accommodation and other services to health personnel
Analysis of Supply Chain Management Practices on Private Banks in Indonesia
Abstract— This study examines the role of profitability in mediating the effects of supply chain on market structure, GDP growth, inflation rates and exchange rates. This research was conducted at Bank Indonesia of all banking companies namely the National Non-Foreign Exchange Private Bank in Indonesia. Based on a purposive sampling technique, the number of samples (n) from data time series every year during the 2013-2017 period is 15 company samples, so the total sample of research for 5 years is 75 observations. The analysis used in this study is Path analysis or path analysis. Based on the analysis, overall credit risk at Non-Foreign Exchange Commercial Banks during the 2013-2017 period was influenced by internal factors (capital and liquidity ratios) and external factors (GDP growth) with Profitability as Moderating that occurred between the ratio of capital, liquidity and GDP growth to risk credit. Supply chain strategy has a significant positive effect on profitability at Non-Foreign Exchange Commercial Banks during the 2013-2017 period. Bank size has a significant positive effect on profitability in Non-Foreign Exchange Commercial Banks during the 2013-2017 period. Liquidity has a significant positive effect on profitability at Non-Foreign Exchange Commercial Banks during the 2013-2017 period. GDP growth has a significant positive effect on profitability at non-foreign exchange commercial banks during the 2013-2017 period. Inflation has no significant positive effect with profitability at Non-Foreign Exchange Commercial Banks during the 2013-2017 period. The exchange rate (exchange rate) has a significant positive effect on profitability at non-foreign exchange commercial banks during the 2013-2017 period. Supply chain strategy has a significant positive effect on credit risk at Non-Foreign Exchange Commercial Banks during the 2013-2017 period. GDP growth has a significant positive effect on credit risk at non-foreign exchange commercial banks during the 2013-2017 period. Inflation has no significant positive effect on credit risk at Non-Foreign Exchange Commercial Banks during the 2013-2017 period. The exchange rate (Exchange) has no significant positive effect on credit risk at Non-Foreign Exchange Commercial Banks during the 2013-2017 period. Profitability does not have a significant positive effect on credit risk at Non-Foreign Exchange Commercial Banks during the 2013-2017 period. Profitability only mediates the relationship between the ratio of capital, liquidity and GDP growth to credit risk. The management must establish metrics in supply chain and show a clear link on all performance indicators
A Supplier Selection Model for Textile and Apparel Companies: An Analytic Network Process Approach
The purpose of this study is to help textile and apparel (TA) companies select their best suppliers by using a suitable Multicriteria Decision Making (MCDM) method. From then, a managerial and theoretical implications are made to adjust the set of criteria to make it more effective and the selection method for TA companies. In order to do that, first, the literature on supplier selection criteria was reviewed to determine necessary criteria for TA industry. Next, an appropriate methodology was proposed to build up a selection model. Then, the proposed approach was implemented in three particular companies in the industry. Finally, discussion on managerial and theoretical aspects of the MCDM and the set of supplier selection was made. The findings will be a good contribution to the selection process of TA companies as they can utilize these criteria to select capable suppliers
