Patterns and determinants of Neighborhoods Quality of informal Communities in Metropolitan Lagos using Statistical Techniques

    Get PDF
Metropolitan Lagos in Nigeria is renowned for its numerous informal communities, characterized by a lack of official recognition and residents' land ownership rights, leading to substandard housing and inadequate neighborhood services. These areas, though often contested by migrants and indigenous populations, are integral to the city. Despite previous studies focusing on formal city conditions, informal communities in Lagos remain underexplored. This study aimed to describe the socio-demographic characteristics, housing quality, and neighborhood conditions of these communities. Primary data from 1,600 respondents across fifteen informal communities were collected through structured questionnaires. Analysis included descriptive statistics, factor analysis, ANOVA, generalized linear regression, and spatial autocorrelation techniques. Findings revealed one-room apartments with wooden features as predominant housing types. Principal component analysis summarized 21 residential quality indicators into eight components, with low residential and neighborhood quality but high locational quality indexes. ANOVA indicated significant variations in quality indexes across communities, while spatial autocorrelation analysis showed no significant clustering. Regression analysis highlighted the influence of gender, ethnicity, income, occupation, and homeownership on residential and neighborhood quality. The study concluded by advocating for improved dwellings, increased public services, and collaborative efforts for the renewal of Lagos' informal communities. Get PDF
The use and management of knowledge in the context of e-government can unveil new prospects for improving governmental services and increasing citizen participation in the decision-making process. Knowledge management technologies, data analysis, and artificial intelligence applications can contribute to better directing government policies and analyzing community needs. Additionally, knowledge and its electronic applications can play a pivotal role in achieving the objectives of e-government by facilitating the collection, organization, examination, and dissemination of knowledge within the e-government context, thereby enabling the identification of potential avenues for improvement and development through modern technology. A review of the literature on this subject and an examination of previous studies, whether in Arabic or English, confirm the importance of technological infrastructure in governmental organizations, which is crucial for the successful role of knowledge management in e-government and its development in line with the strategic plans of governmental agencies. Furthermore, the establishment of mechanisms and legislation that contribute to the governance of knowledge management within e-government is essential.https://doi.org/10.24897/acn.64.68.20251224002

USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FOR FORMATTING ACADEMIC JOURNAL PAPERS

    Get PDF
This paper investigates the challenges researchers face in formatting academic papers, focusing on the importance of proper formatting for clarity, credibility, and reader engagement. While researchers recognize the significance of well-formatted work, they often struggle with the complexities of adhering to diverse journal and conference guidelines. This challenge is exacerbated by the time constraints and the lack of specialized formatting expertise among researchers. This paper explores the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to revolutionize the academic paper formatting process. AI-powered tools can automate many aspects of formatting, including: Adapting to varying formatting requirements: AI can analyze and apply the specific guidelines of different journals and conferences, ensuring consistency and reducing manual effort. Optimizing font choices: AI can select appropriate fonts based on readability, visual appeal, and audience, enhancing the overall presentation. Automating margin and spacing adjustments: AI can ensure consistent margins, line spacing, and indentation, improving document clarity and professional appearance. Assisting with table and figure placement: AI can analyze the document and suggest optimal positions for tables and figures, enhancing visual flow and reader comprehension. By automating these tasks, AI can significantly improve the efficiency and accuracy of the formatting process, allowing researchers to focus on their research and enhance the overall quality and impact of their publications

    Get PDF
In an era where knowledge has become a key component of government operations, artificial intelligence represents a powerful tool for the public sector. When implemented strategically and ethically, artificial intelligence can help the public sector deliver more efficient, responsive and citizen-focused services, contributing to overall well-being and prosperity. Accordingly, this paper empirically investigates the impact of artificial intelligence on knowledge management. The paper took employees in the Saudi public sector, especially the ministries, as a population to implement the investigation. A convenience sample was obtained through a cross-sectional design consisting of 226 respondents constituting a response percentage of 73.5%. Structural equation modeling, an analytical approach, was used to test hypotheses and extract validity and reliability indicators. The paper concluded that the dimensions of artificial intelligence had a positive impact on knowledge management, except machine learning, which did not affect knowledge management in the Saudi public sector. As a result, the paper recommended the need to develop a comprehensive AI strategy that aligns with the goals and priorities of the public sector in Saudi Arabia and ensures that AI initiatives are integrated into the broader knowledge management strategy
