Critical Success Factors in Knowledge Extraction at Knowledge Centres: Case Study of Jeddah State Municipality
Get PDFThe study problem is surrounding KE (Knowledge Extraction) as it is the most important function of knowledge management as it contains knowledge creation, storage, transformation from tacit to explicit knowledge and providing knowledge to users in natural format. KE is a complex work that requires systematic mechanism through knowledge centers (KC). The importance of the study clarifies the vitality of KE in KC, which explain procedures, and challenges facing KC in public institutions. Objectives of the study include the explanation of KE essence in organizing KC steps and propose practical model of KE in KC with exploration of critical success factors (CSF). Methodology of the study selected case study method of KC in Jeddah Municipality as this case is one of few practical advanced applications in KM to accomplish the strategic goals and contribute directly to develop, grow and improve performance. The study used questionnaire as explorative descriptive approach for a sample of 102 from experts, and users in the KC of Jeddah Municipality. Results are statistically significant parameters found KE is a vital function of KM in public institutions, besides the study established major CSF in KE of KC that dictates to provide top management support especially in disseminating knowledge culture and staff motivation to create knowledge and to transform tacit knowledge to explicit knowledge and to apply quality standards to bond knowledge to achieving organization strategy and goals. The study proposed a model which illustrates three levels of application in KC to facilitate knowledge extraction
Impact of Climate Change on Right to Life and Responsibility of States According to International Environmental Law
Get PDFThis study aims to observe international environmental law improvement in climate change issue, from the angle of human right to life. Everyone’s right to life shall be protected by law. This right is one of the most essential human rights of the international conventions since without the right to life it is not possible to enjoy the other human rights. Climate change impacts internationally recognized human rights. States have a certain obligation to take real actions to avoid these climate impacts, in order to reduce climate change and to guarantee that all human rights-holders (human beings) have the chance to survive to the climate crisis. Climate justice entails that climate action is constant with existing international human rights agreements, responsibilities, values and ethics. In order to generate coherent policies and support measures of climate change reducing, more non-discriminatory legal efforts are required, and need to be observed.

Get PDFThe aim of the current study was to review the literature from 1997 to 2022 that addressed the relationship between the role of individuals in the integrative relationship between the elements and processes of knowledge management. The study yielded several results, the most important of which are: knowledge management cannot be achieved without interaction and integration among its elements and processes. Previous studies emphasized the importance of human capital (individuals) in achieving knowledge management processes. While technology plays a role in storing and disseminating knowledge, it cannot be done without individuals. Any specific processes or procedures related to the implementation of knowledge management require the involvement of individuals, as they are the main element in this task and play a crucial role in achieving integration and interaction among the elements and processes of knowledge management. From the literature review, it was confirmed that all studies emphasized the importance of integration among the elements and processes and highlighted the significant role of individuals in achieving this interaction and integration. The study also aimed to fill the gap in studies that have addressed the topic of the current study
Knowledge Extraction and Innovation
Get PDFThe study aimed to reveal scientific studies and research that dealt with the relationship between knowledge extraction and innovation in general. The study used inductive and follow-up methods through searching in search engines, databases, and automated indexes. It showed that the practical trend for the study of innovation did not appear until the early fifties of the ninth century. Tenth, as for knowledge extraction, it appeared synonymously with knowledge discovery, knowledge gathering, data mining, and data processing at the end of the nineteenth century. A systematic review of the literature was also conducted to obtain more insight into the relationship between knowledge extraction and innovation, most of which dealt with knowledge management processes in general and their impact on innovation. There are a few studies that focus mainly and specifically on the process of knowledge extraction and its impact on innovation. One of the most prominent results was that information technology and its various techniques have a prominent role in facilitating access to knowledge, extracting it from its sources, and presenting it to the beneficiaries, which enhances the innovation process of employees and organizations

ENVIROMENTAL SAFETY OPERATIONS OF LIQUIFIED PETROLEUM GAS (LPG) FILLING PLANTS IN NIGERIA: GAPS BETWEEN GUIDELINES AND PRACTICE
Get PDFThe study compared the stipulated guidelines of the Nigeria Directorate of Petroleum Resources for safety practices in the siting, construction and operations of LPG filling plants in Nigeria. The study employed observational survey. Forty two LPG filling plants were sampled from 3 states of southwestern geo-political zones of Nigeria. An Interview guide and Safety Compliance Checklist were used to elicit relevant information. Data were qualitatively discussed and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results showed that wide gap existed between guidelines and existing practice as plants did operate with no approval of relevant regulatory agencies, trainings for safety were uncoordinated. Plant siting were largely hazardous, guidelines regarding safety, disaster prevention and safety instruments as well as emergency management were grossly violated. The guidelines also requires review so as to be responsive to current realities. Supervision from the regulating agencies need improvement for adherence to safety and best practices.  
Effectiveness of Educational and Vaccination Interventions in Preventing Monkeypox: Case of Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs)
Get PDFPreventing the spread of Monkeypox in endemic countries in low-resource settings is important to address the prevalence of this disease and avoid outbreaks in other regions, mostly in the Central African countries and Northern Europe. The concepts covered in this area are educational and vaccination interventions to prevent Monkeypox transmission as a vital public health priority. The aim of this dissertation is to review evidence about the effectiveness of educational and vaccination interventions in low- and-middle-income countries (LMICs) and to examine factors affecting successful implementation of these interventions. A critical review of current literature enabled to evaluate the preventative interventions and factors affecting their implementation to address Monkeypox incidence. The range of evidence included comprised nine studies, eight of which provided evidence from LMICs, while one study was from a high-resource economy, namely the United States. This paper on a high-resource setting was included to assist in establishing factors that have enabled the effective implementation of an intervention in this context to promote public health and suggest ways in which low-income settings could manage implementation challenges. LMICs have differing abilities to handle the factors that affect the successful implementation of intervention efforts. The educational intervention activities increase the ability to identify and address suspected and confirmed Monkeypox cases, while vaccination intervention approaches reduce vulnerability to Monkeypox virus exposure among community members and health care workers. A major finding revealed is that vaccination interventions increased the safety levels among the health care workers infected by Monkeypox virus over a period of four years, with an incidence of 17.4 cases per 10,000 people compared to a range of 0.6-1.8% by year. Corrective and concentrated intervention efforts by the government, health workers, and community members through relaying information and providing follow-up programs is an opportunity to cushion against vulnerability to Monkeypox in low-and-middle-income countries
The impact of job rotation on the performance of health organizations: An Applied Study in King Faisal Hospital in Makkah City
Get PDFThe current study focuses on the impact of job rotation on the performance of health organizations, and therefore the study aimed to study the impact of senior management’s interest in human resource development through job rotation, horizontal and vertical job rotation on health service performance in King Faisal Hospital in Makkah. To achieve the goals of the study, the researcher used the descriptive analytical method and the questionnaire to collect data, and it consists of two parts: the first section is personal data, and the second section is four axes according to the study variables, and the study was applied to a sample of hospital staff that reached (303) employees. Most important results of the study: There is a correlation between the higher management's interest in developing human resources through job rotation, and the performance of the health service in King Faisal Hospital in Makkah, where the correlation coefficient reached (0,826). Its ranking was the most influential in the first place, followed by the reality of the application of horizontal job rotation (0.677) , and finally the reality of applying vertical job rotation ( 0.633). Most important recommendations of the study: To hold meetings for employees who are nominated for job rotation before starting the rotation process. The necessity to develop a comprehensive plan to implement job rotation to ensure the implementation of the rotation according to the human and training needs in the hospital. Providing the opportunity for subordinates to express their views on the method of executing the work as the actual practice of these employees increases their experiences in determining the best methods to accomplish the work tasks. The impact of the application of the electronic management system on the performance of employees in King Fahd Medical City in Riyadh: Applied Study
Get PDFThe study aimed to identify the impact of the application of the electronic management system on the performance of employees in King Fahd City in Riyadh. To achieve the goal of the study, the researcher used the descriptive survey method. In this study, the researcher targeted the employees working in King Fahd Medical City, using the questionnaire and distributing it electronically, and he responded to it (150). The study reached many results, the most important of which are: that the employees of King Fahd City strongly agree that the city has electronic systems programs in the Medical City with the aim of saving and retrieval of data with an arithmetic mean (4.740) and a standard deviation of (0.469), The results also indicated that the electronic management systems used in the medical city contribute to the speed of work completion with an arithmetic mean (4.413) and a standard deviation of (0.667), and that electronic management systems contribute to facilitating the process of control and follow-up with an arithmetic mean (4.393) and a standard deviation (0.664), Among the results, there is also an impact of electronic systems on the performance of employees, where the value of (T) = 15,887, which is a statistical function, and one of the results of the application of electronic management systems on the development of employees in in King Fahd Medical City. Paper transactions were dispensed with, and the focus became on the electronic system with an arithmetic mean (4,620) and a standard deviation (0.526), and electronic management systems contributed to making contact between the administrative departments with an arithmetic mean (4,440) and a standard deviation (0.629), and the impact of electronic systems on the development of The employees were statistically significant, where the value of P was (0.602), which is a function, and in the impact of the effectiveness of electronic management systems in King Fahd Medical City, and on the effectiveness of electronic management systems in King Fahd Medical City in Riyadh. One of the most important results of it was entering the electronic management systems in an easy and smooth way with an arithmetic average) 4.593) and a standard deviation (0.544), and there was an effectiveness of the electronic systems used, through the presence of statistical significance at the level (0.000), and the results showed that the electronic management system has the most impact on the performance of employees, the electronic transactions system and then the performance management system (PMS) and finally recommended Studying the need to adopt the use of electronic systems in medical institutions, and to abandon paper systems and replace them with an electronic system
