    Gender Equitable Physical Education: A Phenomenological Study in an Islamic Elementary School Teacher Education Program

    Gender equality in physical education remains a critical issue, particularly in the Department of Islamic Elementary School Teacher Education (PGMI) at the State Institute of Islamic Studies of Bone, where social constructs and gender stereotypes often hinder female students’ active participation in physical activities. This study aims to explore the experiences, views, and perceptions of students and lecturers regarding gender equality practices in physical education, and how inclusive learning spaces can dismantle symbolic domination and foster social transformation. This qualitative study employed a phenomenological design, involving 10 female students and two lecturers as key participants. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and curriculum document analysis. The findings indicate that female students demonstrated increased self-confidence, active engagement, and a shift in perceptions toward sports after participating in inclusive, gender responsive learning. The learning environment also promoted collaborative interactions between male and female students, supported by the strategic role of lecturers as facilitators of justice-based values. In the context of Islamic higher education institutions, this approach successfully integrates religious values with gender equality principles in a harmonious way. The study concludes that physical education plays a strategic role as a medium for social transformation, not only enhancing physical fitness but also fostering critical awareness of equity and social justice. This study implies that gender-equitable physical education training in PGMI contributes to shaping inclusive future teachers who promote equal participation in primary classrooms

    Purpose – This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the principal\u27s supervision management in enhancing the pedagogical competence of teachers at Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (vocational high school) or SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Moyudan, focusing on four main stages: planning, organizing, implementation, and monitoring of supervision. Design/methods/approach – This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research was conducted from February to April 2025, with data collected through in-depth interviews with three informants: the principal, the vice-principal for curriculum affairs, and a teacher, as well as through documentation related to school supervision. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation, while analysis was performed using the Miles & Huberman model, which includes the stages of data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Findings – The supervision management at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Moyudan is conducted systematically through: (1) planning that emphasizes targets for pedagogical competence development, (2) fair and transparent organization among the supervision team, (3) communicative implementation supported by digital technology, such as WhatsApp for coaching and discussions, and (4) adaptive monitoring through routine evaluations and needs-based follow-ups for teachers. Supervision serves not only as a control mechanism but also as an effective tool for professional development that fosters improvements in teaching quality. Research implications/limitations – These findings can be adopted by other vocational high schools to strengthen teacher pedagogical competence by enhancing two-way communication, utilizing digital technology, and providing continuous coaching. This study is limited to a single school with a small number of informants; therefore, the generalization of its findings should be approached with caution. Originality/value – This research offers an empirical framework for the implementation of principal supervision in a vocational high school setting by integrating digital media into the teacher coaching process. This approach enriches the literature on educational supervision in Indonesia, particularly within the context of vocational education, which demands rapid adaptation to technological advancements and industry needs. Abstrak Tujuan – Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji secara mendalam manajemen supervisi kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan kompetensi pedagogik guru di SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Moyudan, dengan fokus pada empat tahap utama: perencanaan, pengorganisasian, pelaksanaan, dan pengawasan supervisi. Desain/metode/pendekatan – Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada Februari–April 2025, dengan data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam terhadap tiga narasumber: kepala sekolah, wakil kepala sekolah bidang kurikulum, dan seorang guru, serta dokumentasi terkait supervisi sekolah. Validitas data dijaga melalui triangulasi sumber, sedangkan analisis dilakukan dengan model Miles & Huberman yang mencakup tahap pengumpulan, reduksi, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Temuan – Manajemen supervisi di SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Moyudan berjalan sistematis melalui: (1) perencanaan yang menitikberatkan pada target pengembangan kompetensi pedagogik, (2) pengorganisasian yang adil dan transparan di antara tim supervisi, (3) pelaksanaan yang komunikatif dengan dukungan teknologi digital seperti WhatsApp untuk coaching dan diskusi, serta (4) pengawasan adaptif melalui evaluasi rutin dan tindak lanjut berbasis kebutuhan guru. Supervisi tidak hanya menjadi alat kontrol, tetapi juga sarana pembinaan profesional yang efektif dalam mendorong peningkatan kualitas pengajaran. Implikasi/batasan penelitian – Temuan ini dapat diadopsi oleh sekolah menengah kejuruan lain untuk memperkuat kompetensi pedagogik guru melalui penguatan komunikasi dua arah, pemanfaatan teknologi digital, dan pembinaan berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini terbatas pada satu sekolah dengan jumlah informan yang sedikit, sehingga generalisasi temuan perlu dilakukan dengan hati-hati. Keaslian/nilai – Penelitian ini menawarkan kerangka empiris implementasi supervisi kepala sekolah pada lingkungan SMK dengan mengintegrasikan media digital dalam proses pembinaan guru. Pendekatan ini memperkaya kajian supervisi pendidikan di Indonesia, khususnya pada konteks pendidikan vokasi yang menuntut adaptasi cepat terhadap perkembangan teknologi dan kebutuhan industri

    PPG Students’ Perceptions of Lecturer Competence in the In-Service PPG at the Teacher Education Institute (LPTK) of IAIN Pontianak: Cross-Sectional Quantitative Survey with PLS and Cronbach’s Alpha Validation

    Purpose – To assess in-service Teacher Professional Education (Pendidikan Profesi Guru, PPG) students’ perceptions of lecturer competence in providing learning services in the in-service PPG program at the Teacher Education Institute (LPTK) of IAIN Pontianak. The research rationale refers to the demands of the 21st century, Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK), and the utilization of the Learning Management System (LMS). Design/methods/approach – Descriptive cross-sectional quantitative survey; 215 students were invited, 177 valid responses were analyzed (≈82,3%). Data were collected through a questionnaire. Descriptive analysis summarized domain scores; construct validity was evaluated with PLS (outer loadings ≥ 0,50) and reliability with Cronbach’s alpha (SPSS 22.0). Findings – All 27 items met the loading threshold. High reliability: pedagogical α=0,907 (9 items), professional α=0,888 (7), personality α=0,884 (6), social α=0,839 (5). Perceptions of lecturer competence “very good”: pedagogical 93,09%; professional 92,94%; personality 93,53%; social 93,08%. Item diagnostics highlighted areas for improvement: diversity of assessment, integration of research findings, consistency of words–actions, as well as lecturers’ closeness in recognizing students. Research implications – Program priorities: assessment literacy, research-based teaching, professional role modeling, and relational lecturer–student practices; calibration of assessment aligned with learning contracts/indicators; optimize the LMS so that the admin role is supportive, not substitutive

    PAI–PAK Elementary School Textbooks as an Ideological State Apparatus (ISA): A van Leeuwen Critical Discourse Analysis Framed by Ecofeminism on the Construction of Gender–Ecology in the Independent Curriculum (Merdeka Curriculum)

    Purpose – To assess the ideological construction of gender–ecology in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) and Christian Religious Education (PAK) elementary-level textbooks under the Independent Curriculum (Merdeka Curriculum) used in Sekolah Penggerak (2021–2023), addressing the research gap that has not regarded textbooks as a state ideological product Design/methods/approach – A descriptive qualitative study using van Leeuwen’s Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) combined with ecofeminism. Data: eight books (grades 1–4) published by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology and the Ministry of Religious Affairs; a text–visual documentation study; online interviews with five informants (two teachers, one editor, two authors); purposive sampling; categories of inclusion/exclusion, activation/passivation, role allocation, genericisation/specification; source triangulation and research ethics were applied. The scope is limited to eight books and two subjects. Findings – Identifies patterns of domestication of women; marking of femininity (e.g., the color pink); involvement of women in ecological activities that are subordinate and anonymous, whereas men are named/activated as protectors or givers; women are passivated as recipients of assistance. The integration of gender equality values and ecological awareness is not systematic. The state, through the Ideological State Apparatus (ISA), reproduces patriarchal–anthropocentric discourse. Research implications – Proposes a CDA–ecofeminism rubric–based audit–revision across the entire publishing cycle; editorial–design guidelines (balance of roles, equal naming, avoidance of essentialist visual codes); discourse literacy training for teachers; as well as periodic, transparent evaluations with feedback channels from schools and religious communities

    Integration of the STEAM Approach Based on Islamic Values in Pesantren Education: An Exploratory Case Study Grounded in Project-Based Learning and the Principles of Ta’dib

    Purpose – This study aims to explore the implementation of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) approach based on Islamic values in pesantren, as a response to the need for integrating modern scientific knowledge and Islamic spirituality in addressing 21st-century challenges. The focus of the study is to identify contextual strategies for implementing STEAM, analyze students\u27 responses to the integration of Islamic values within STEAM learning, and formulate a conceptual framework for STEAM integration grounded in the principles of Islamic education (ta’dib). Design/methods/approach – This study employs a qualitative approach through an exploratory case study design at Pondok Pesantren Tahfidzul Qur’an Al Husna Bukit Rajawali. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews with five key informants (teachers, pesantren leaders, students), and document analysis conducted during March 2025. Data analysis was carried out thematically using triangulation techniques to validate the findings. Findings – The results indicate that STEAM was implemented through project-based learning, including projects such as constructing a natural water filter, producing educational videos, and creating Islamic geometry-based calligraphy. The integration of Islamic values was carried out substantively, with explicit connections between STEAM activities and Qur’anic verses and hadiths, significantly enhancing students\u27 enthusiasm and active engagement. Identified challenges include limited learning facilities and teachers’ competencies in applying interdisciplinary learning. Research implications – Practically, this study recommends that pesantren improve teachers\u27 pedagogical competencies through regular training in STEAM methodologies and invest in simple laboratory facilities or collaborative learning spaces. This integration model can be implemented in other pesantren with similar characteristics to enhance the quality of Islamic education in preparing a generation that is characterized, religious, and capable of addressing global challenges

    Pendidikan menjadi salah satu aspek penting bagi keberlangsungan hidup manusia juga dalam berbangsa dan bernegara. Indonesia merupakan negara berkembang, sehingga pendidikan di Indonesia patut menjadi salah satu point penting untuk dimajukan demi terciptanya negara yang berkemajuan. Beberapa data menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan di Indonesia berada di peringkat yang tergolong rendah terkhusus pada matematika. Dalam pembelajaran matematika, proses belajar dengan dikaitkan budaya telah menjadi tren di beberapa tahun terakhir, ini dikenal dengan etnomatematika. Bengkulu merupakan salah satu kota dengan warisan kebudayaan yang cukup kaya, Tabut Bansal adalah salah satunya. Tabut Bansal bukan hanya sekadar artefak budaya, tetapi juga merupakan penanda sejarah dan identitas masyarakat Bengkulu yang kental dengan nilai-nilai lokal. Tabut Bansal dengan keindahan dan kompleksitasnya memiliki banyak peluang untuk dieksplorasi, terkhusus dalam konteks pembelajaran matematika yaitu konsep kekongruenan dan kesebangunan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa dapat mengembangkan pemahaman yang lebih mendalam tentang kekongruenan dan kesebangunan dalam belajar matematika dari perspektif yang baru yaitu Tabut Bansal

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang konsep mengenai model pembelajaran yang dapat memberikan inspirasi para pendidik, dengan menggunakan media kartu berbasis braille dan media digital sebagai salah satu inovasi pembelajaran matematika di kelas inklusi, terutama untuk difabel netra. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan kajian kepustakaan (library research) dengan teknik analisis deskriptif yang berupaya yang menggambarkan inovasi metode  pembelajaran yang inovatif untuk kelas inklusi dan mendukung kesetaraan. Sumber data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu jurnal, artikel, dan karya ilmiah yang relevan dengan objek kajian pada penelitian. Hasil penelitian ini adalah konsep teoritis Inovasi metode pembelajaran Teams Games Tournament berbasis kartu braille berupa pertanyaan dan digital berupa Microsoft Powerpoint dan Quizizz yang mampu melibatkan semua siswa di kelas inklusi. Dengan demikian, inovasi ini diharapkan memberikan dampak positif terhadap kualitas pembelajaran matematika di kelas inklusi, terutama untuk difabel netra.     Interferensi Morfologi dan Sintaksis Bahasa Indonesia Terhadap Bahasa Arab: Studi Analisis Pada Siswi Kelas IX MTs Riyadlotut Thalabah Sedan Rembang Tahun Ajaran 2023/2024

    This study aims to: 1) identify the forms of errors in Arabic language, specifically morphological and syntactic interference, experienced by the ninth-grade female students of MTS Riyadlotut Thalabah Sedan Rembang; 2) explore the factors causing these interference errors; and 3) determine the efforts to minimize these errors by the teacher. The research is a descriptive qualitative field study conducted at MTS Riyadlotut Thalabah with a sample of 40 ninth-grade students. Data collection methods include observation, interviews, and documentation, with qualitative analysis applied to the data. The findings show that interference errors occurred in two main areas: morphology and syntax. Morphological errors include mistakes in conjugation and word choice, while syntactic errors involve issues with agreement, i\u27rab, pronoun usage, and the application of conjunctions. The causes of these errors are classified into three factors: interlingual, intralingual, and performance-related. To minimize these errors, teachers should focus on increasing the practical application of the Arabic theories learned

    Assessment is a critical component of the learning process, serving to determine the achievement of learning objectives. This study aims to evaluate the quality of Arabic language multiple-choice final exam items for eleventh-grade students of class "L" at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Cilacap in the 2023/2024 academic year, focusing on validity, reliability, difficulty level, discrimination index, and distractor effectiveness. This quantitative descriptive study used data sources including question sheets, student answer sheets, question grids, and answer keys. Data were collected through interviews and documentation and analyzed using the Anates V4 application. The findings revealed that the overall quality of the items was low. In terms of validity, only 7 items (23%) were categorized as high and none as very high; 14 items (47%) were classified as very low. Reliability was high with a coefficient of 0.72. Regarding difficulty level, most items were too easy, with 15 items (50%) in the very easy category. The discrimination index showed 11 items (37%) were not good, while none reached the very good category. Distractor effectiveness showed poor results, with 12 items (40%) in the very bad category. These findings suggest that the exam items require significant revision to meet quality standards

    Pengembangan Media Pembelajaran Mufrodat Bahasa Arab Berbasis Android di MIN 3 Bantul Yogyakarta

    This study aims to develop Android-based Arabic mufrodat learning media that is feasible and effective for grade 3 students at MIN 3 Bantul Yogyakarta. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model which includes the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The results of the analysis showed the need for interactive and contextual learning media to overcome students\u27 difficulties in reading Arabic letters and memorizing vocabulary. The media product was developed in the form of an Android application called Al-Araby, validated by media experts, material experts, and teachers, with validation results of 71%, 81%, and 4.8 on a scale of 5, respectively, indicating a high level of feasibility. The effectiveness of the media was tested through pre-test and post-test on 48 students, with an increase in the average score from 81.4 to 96.6. The paired sample t-test results showed a significance of 0.01 <0.05, signifying a statistically significant increase. Learners\u27 responses also showed enthusiasm and increased interest in learning. Thus, this learning media is proven to be valid, feasible, and effective to use in learning Arabic at the elementary level
