Shame in Middle Eastern Muslims a Literature Review Toward Clinical Implication
No full textResearchers have studied shame formulation and provided treatment suggestions for clinical work with shame-induced psychopathology in the West. Further, evidence has indicated collectivistic cultures have some formulation of shame and each population has a different understanding of shame. However, Islamic Middle Eastern cultures may face further issues due to a combination of both collectivistic and Islamic dynamics. Considering the extent of religious influence on religious Muslims, this dynamic requires more extensive study to understand shame and its functional and dysfunctional roles. This paper includes a detailed literature review of shame in collectivistic cultures and Islamic communities to show clinical implications for working on shame with Middle Eastern Muslims

Presymptomatic Alzheimer’s Pathology: Neuroanatomical Structural Volumes and Executive Functioning
No full textResearchers have observed that executive functioning ability declines before memory among individuals with presymptomatic Alzheimer’s pathology. Whether this change in cognitive ability is associated with earlier neuroanatomical structural change is explored in the current study. Specifically, the purpose of the current study was to investigate earlier neuroanatomical volume changes in the hippocampus, precuneus, orbitofrontal cortex, and gray matter among individuals with presymptomatic Alzheimer’s pathology. Participants included 21 cognitively healthy older adults with normal levels of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) β-amyloid and tau (CH-NAT) and 18 cognitively healthy individuals with pathological levels of CSF β-amyloid and tau (CH-PAT), designated as the presymptomatic Alzheimer’s pathology group. Study findings suggest that individuals in the CH-PAT group had overall smaller volume levels among all neuroanatomical structures analyzed than those in the CH-NAT group, particularly in the right lateral orbitofrontal cortex. Members of the CH-PAT group also displayed poorer executive functioning ability. However, poorer executive functioning ability was associated with smaller left hippocampal volume among females, but not males, in the CH-NAT group

Get PDFThe Duane Pederson Jesus People International and Hollywood Free Press Collection consists of material dating throughout the latter half of the 20th century, but the bulk of the collection covers the decade from 1969-1979. The principal focus of the collection is the Jesus People movement. Formats include periodicals, books, correspondence, newsletters, manuscripts, photographs, other forms of media, and memorabilia.
The collection includes a complete set of all issues of the Hollywood Free Paper, various Jesus People publications, ministry newsletters, correspondence, recordings, films, posters, artwork, memorabilia, and over 15,000 photos preserved by Duane Pederson. Awards, clippings, and other documentation are in the collection. Materials relating to the Jesus People archival collection opening at Fuller Seminary on May 15-16, 2010 are included.
