    Get PDF
Early childhood education is a crucial stage for stimulating cognitive development, thus requiring learning approaches suited to children’s characteristics. This study aims to examine the effects of the drill method, the Beyond Centers and Circle Time (BCCT) approach, and their combination on improving cognitive abilities of children aged 4–5 years at PAUD Mawar, Nusaniwe District, Ambon. The research employed a quantitative approach with an ex post facto design involving 50 children divided into two treatment groups. Data were collected through pretest and posttest based on cognitive indicators, then analyzed using t-test after fulfilling normality and homogeneity assumptions. Results indicated a significant difference between BCCT and drill groups, with BCCT yielding a higher mean score (75.00) compared to drill (67.11). These findings highlight that center-based learning is more effective in enhancing classification, symbol recognition, logical sequencing, and cause-effect reasoning than repetition strategies

Cultivating Critical Citizenship and Democratic Resilience Among Indonesian Youth: A Participatory Framework for Preventing Violent Extremism

    Get PDF
This study examines strategies for building national integrity among Indonesian youth as a countermeasure against radicalism. Radicalism, defined as ideological movements seeking drastic social and political change through extreme means, poses significant threats to Indonesia's national unity. Youth, as the nation's assets and future leaders, are particularly vulnerable to radical recruitment due to their idealism and energy. National integrity encompasses qualities of wholeness, honesty, and consistency toward truth that manifest in dignified behavior. The research identifies that radical movements in Indonesia, including terrorism and separatist activities, frequently involve youth participation, making it crucial to strengthen their nationalist and patriotic values. The study proposes nine strategic approaches: (1) instilling nationalism through the four pillars of nationhood (Pancasila, 1945 Constitution, NKRI, Bhinneka Tunggal Ika); (2) developing patriotism through family, educational, and institutional environments; (3) cultivating the spirit and values of 1945 struggle; (4) implementing character education through formal, informal, and non-formal channels; (5) enhancing positive youth roles through empowerment programs; (6) educating about Indonesia's unity history; (7) forming attitudes embracing diversity; (8) exploring and implementing nationalist values; and (9) fostering brotherhood through youth organizations. This comprehensive approach aims to equip Indonesian youth with strong national identity and critical thinking to resist radical ideologies while maintaining their role as agents of positive change

Knowledge, Power, and the Struggle to Write: Social Barriers in Research Proposal Development among English Literature Students

    Get PDF
This study investigates the social and linguistic barriers encountered by English literature students in developing research proposals, focusing on the interplay between knowledge, power, and academic writing. It aims to identify key difficulties faced by students and evaluate the impact of the Linguistics Research Methods (LRM) course in addressing these challenges. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the study involved 32 undergraduate students from Universitas Persada Bunda Indonesia and utilized both questionnaires and tests, including pre- and post-assessments of proposal writing. The evaluation covered five core indicators: organization, logical development of ideas, grammar, punctuation and mechanics, and style and expression. The findings show a notable improvement in students’ writing performance after completing the LRM course. The average pre-test score was 54, while the post-test score rose to 72, indicating a significant enhancement in their proposal-writing skills. Nevertheless, students struggled with key aspects such as articulating research focus, distinguishing literature reviews from problem statements, and presenting their ideas in clear, academic language. These challenges point to deeper issues of epistemic access and uneven academic capital. This research contributes novel insight into how academic gatekeeping and unequal access to research literacy intersect within undergraduate education. It recommends a pedagogical emphasis on critical academic writing, reflective inquiry, and inclusive mentorship to support students’ entry into scholarly communities. These findings have broader implications for improving higher education practices in the social sciences and humanities, particularly in non-native English contexts

Leadership as a Social Catalyst: Moderating the Relationship Between Talent Management and Job Satisfaction in Strategic Industries

    Get PDF
Increasing business competition demands that companies manage human resources strategically, particularly through effective talent management and leadership, to enhance employee job satisfaction. This study aims to examine the influence of talent management on job satisfaction with leadership as a moderating variable, and to assess the extent to which leadership strengthens this relationship within the context of a strategic industry. A quantitative approach was applied using Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) processed with SPSS version 25. The sample comprised 232 employees of PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda who had participated in talent management programs, possessed more than three years of work experience, and had undergone training. Sampling techniques combined proportionate stratified random sampling and judgment sampling. The findings reveal that both talent management and leadership have a positive and significant impact on job satisfaction. Specifically, leadership significantly strengthens the positive influence of talent management on job satisfaction. The study offers a novel contribution by mapping leadership as a social catalyst that reinforces the talent–satisfaction linkage, particularly in strategic industries that require integrated HR management. The research contributes conceptually to the fields of social sciences and humanities, especially in strategic leadership and talent development. Practical implications highlight the need to invest not only in talent programs but also in leadership capacity building

Guidance and Counseling Across Borders: A Comparative Study of Counselor Well-Being in Indonesia and Malaysia

    Get PDF
The psychological well-being of school counselors is crucial for effective guidance and counseling services in educational settings, yet significant challenges related to administrative burden, professional recognition, and institutional support persist in both Indonesia and Malaysia. This study aimed to compare the psychological well-being of school counselors in these two countries using Ryff’s multidimensional framework, focusing on how contextual and institutional factors shape well-being outcomes. A quantitative comparative design was employed, utilizing Ryff’s Psychological Well-Being Scale and analyzing data from eight primary school counselors (four from Medan, Indonesia, and four from Penang, Malaysia). The Mann-Whitney U test revealed a statistically significant difference between the two groups (p = 0.020), with all Malaysian counselors exhibiting "very high" levels of psychological well-being, while Indonesian counselors ranged from "high" to "very high." These findings highlight that Malaysian counselors benefit from more structured professional support, lower administrative burdens, and greater institutional recognition compared to their Indonesian counterparts, who face challenges of role overload and limited support. The study contributes to comparative education literature by emphasizing the importance of systemic and organizational factors in shaping counselor well-being, and offers evidence-based insights for policymakers to improve support structures in schools. For future research, expanding the sample size, including secondary school counselors, and exploring longitudinal impacts of policy changes on counselor well-being are recommended

This study aims to analyze the role of Instagram in shaping the social practices of local tourism actors at Pasir Panjang Beach, Kei Islands. The research focuses on how tourism stakeholders use Instagram as a medium to produce, distribute, and manage visual narratives about their destination. Employing a qualitative approach through digital observation, in-depth interviews, and content analysis, this study explores how visual representations on social media impact the formation of digital identity, strengthen social relations, and transform the economic strategies of coastal communities. The findings reveal that Instagram functions not only as a promotional tool but also as a symbolic space where tourism actors construct a collective self-image, expand social networks, and articulate economic aspirations grounded in local wisdom. This study offers a novel contribution by integrating theories of digital identity and economic sociology within the context of coastal tourism, an area that has received limited attention in global sociological literature. The findings recommend the development of digital literacy programs sensitive to local cultural contexts to support sustainable tourism practices and empower coastal communities in the digital economy era
