GOVERNANCE OF RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS IN THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES
This study seeks to investigate policies, measures and efforts on religious affairs governance in the UAE, through enacting laws and establishing local religious institutions by uncovering the necessity of the procedures that are in place, the goals of religious governance, how religious affairs are regulated, and the challenges that the government faces in the process. The main objective of this thesis is to provide one possible adoption model for religious regulation. Further, since there are few studies on the topic of religious governance in general, and in the UAE particularly, the researchers synthesized and integrated existing knowledge from diverse sources to provide a comprehensive overview of the topic and highlighted the patterns and trends
THE USE OF PUFFED RICE BIOMATERIAL AS AN INSULATION LAYER: CHARACTERIZATION AND SIMULATION STUDY
Upon close examination in this study, the feasibility of utilizing puffed rice as an insulation layer for construction is explored. Regions that are warm and receive direct sunlight experience heightened temperatures, which can lead to structures trapping excessive heat, resulting in increased cooling demands, energy consumption, and higher costs all around. As revealed via findings from research conducted over time, puffed rice showcases immense prospects when employed as insulation considering its high level of percolation coupled with low thermal conductivity rates. Conversely, conventional materials tend to have better-quality properties like greater compressive strength than what one sees here, along with water-soaking tendencies. In an effort to scrutinize its thermal insulating capabilities thoroughly, the physical traits associated with it were assessed, including density and moisture absorption levels, by putting it through experimental stages closely monitoring, gathering material characterization, and inputting it using simulation software such as DesignBuilder, Energy Plus, and opaque 3.0, for the case studies of a common Emirati villa and typical office building in Dubai, will show the potential use of biomaterials such as puffed rice for insulation purposes in hot climates. Overall, the results put forward throughout provide comprehensive insights relating to how economically and environmentally optimally suited using puffed rice could prove suitable as an ideal building insulation material. In order for composite building blocks featuring Puff Rice fillers within them to strengthen their structural integrity, further additional studies will be required altogether
The Impact of a Mobile Application (Dr. Electron) on Science Attitudes and Self-Efficacy among Eighth-Grade Students
This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of an enrichment mobile application based on the gamification approach (Dr. Electron) on the attitudes towards science and self-efficacy of eighth-grade students in the Sultanate of Oman amid the COVID-19 pandemic. A quasi-experimental design was employed, utilizing both pre-test and post-test control group designs. The study sample comprised 63 students, with 33 assigned to the experimental group and 30 to the control group. The study used Measurement instruments including a science attitude scale with a reliability coefficient of 0.86 and a self-efficacy scale with a reliability coefficient of 0.93. Results indicated statistically significant differences in the post-test application between the control and experimental groups, favoring the teaching method employed for the experimental group in both the science attitude and self-efficacy scales. The study found no statistically significant interaction effect between the teaching method and gender in the post-test application of the science attitude scale. However, a slight interaction was observed between the teaching method and gender in the self-efficacy scale. The study recommends that science educators emphasize the importance of designing and implementing enrichment applications based on gamification principles to foster positive attitudes towards science and enhance students\u27 self-efficacy.

Humorous Takes on Marriage in the UAE
This article investigates humorous representations of marriage in digital comics, stand-up comedy and short films created by Emirati artists and content creators who primarily rely on social media as their most effective form of distribution. Studied against theories of humor in the Western and the Arabic traditions, selected examples demonstrate that the story-based genre appears less light-hearted in its combination of comic with tragic plot turns, while the snapshot characteristic of graphic art allows comics and social media skits to focus on the joke. The latter is thus more appealing to larger audiences, especially via electronic media. Depending on whether the image is accompanied by text in either Arabic or English, the content targets specific viewer groups. Relying on content analysis and audience reception, this study demonstrates that the relief regarding marital dilemmas provided through humor, particularly satire, is greater in the less text-based presentations. Generally, humor is a preferred mode by artists and content creators in the UAE to represent marriage because it can take the edge off sensitive topics

The Ombudsman Serves as a Mechanism to Enhance Trust in Administrative Entities in the United Arab Emirates
In the midst of governments’ trend towards re-evaluating the relationship with customers by building a partnership relationship between them to achieve common and diverse interests at the legal, administrative, social and economic levels, the researcher sought to find mechanisms that would enhance trust between the government and customers to find alternative solutions to address customer’s complaints and disputes arising from administrative work.
Therefore, the choice fell on the experience of the State of Sweden in establishing the Ombudsman system, which aims to protect the rights of customers and address their disputes with the administration, verify that these authorities implement the law and the rules of justice, ethics, and good administrative work, and work on the continuity of development of administrative work to ensure that customer’s confidence in the administration is strengthened, and thus benefiting in an organized manner from reform processes that the administration may not see due to its involvement in executive and operational work, or a group of complaints that may not reach the judicial authorities due to the lack of jurisdiction to monitor them for formal or substantive reasons, and which the researcher believes that those complaints have right to be studied and dealt with fairness. And this is through an experience represented by an independent body that would be a path for the customer and a means of redress in the face of management if there is a mismanagement of that entity.
This research reviewed the main experience of the State of Sweden in the Ombudsman system, as it was the first to implement this organization in the modern legal sense, where the origins of the system, its working mechanism, and even its outcomes were presented, including the method of appointing the Ombudsman, its competences and powers, and then some other global models selected at the European and Arab level were presented to give a comprehensive picture of the topic and how countries are attracted to this system, and all of that is within the first section of this research. After explaining the applied experiments, it was the turn to research, within the second section, the legal and administrative system of the UAE, to try to find out ways to address disputes of those dealing with the administrative body at the present time, and how to submit complaints, and the possible authorities and powers. The mechanisms were viewed at all major levels, represented by the administrative body and the Office of The Presidency, the Council of Ministers, the Federal National Council, the media in the country, and other relevant parties, in order to begin building an Emirati vision and a system that is similar to the global experience in dealing with customer disputes, and aligning them in a way that is compatible with the legal organization of the United Arab Emirates, and considering the possibility of implementing the system after working on a number of Legal, administrative and institutional amendments and changes to build an integrated organization at the federal and local levels.The main goal of proposing the model in the UAE is to create a unified system at the state level to receive customer complaints and work on administrative and legal reforms, forming a region-wide entrepreneurial model that supports and enhances the protection of the customer with the administration, in addition to the development of government work in the UAE in light of The positive efforts that will result from the implementation of this system, especially since the UAE is considered a distinguished incubator for the best government experiences and a pioneer in government work
ORGANIC-BASED NUTRIENT SOLUTIONS FOR SUSTAINABLE VEGETABLE PRODUCTION IN A ZERO -RUNOFF SOILLESS GROWING SYSTEM
As the adoption of soilless production systems escalates to meet the rising demand for safe and healthy fresh produce, the growing environmental awareness and consumer’s preference for sustainable production systems are stimulating the reduction of synthetic inputs. A greenhouse study using an auto-pot zero-runoff hydroponic system and lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) as a model vegetable crop was conducted to evaluate the potential of substituting synthetic fertilizer Nutrient Solutions (NS) with organic-based NS. The use of organic NS resulted in lettuce plants with fewer leaves and a smaller leaf area, plant height, stem diameter, and fresh biomass compared to those grown with inorganic fertilizer. Among the organic NS used, NS B from fish farm waste (159.8 g) and E from plant sources (157.9 g) ensured crop yield performance slightly lower than the inorganic fertilizer NS (175.1 g), but higher than the other humic acid based-organic NS C and D. In organic lettuce, the amounts of chlorophyll and carotene were higher compared to regular lettuce. Chlorophyll levels were 0.81 and 0.93 mg/g, while carotene levels were 0.23 and 0.26 mg/g in organic lettuce. In regular lettuce, the levels were lower, with chlorophyll at 0.95 mg/g and carotene at 0.17 mg/g. Furthermore, plants grown organically in NS C and D had greater phenolic levels (3.36 and 3.22 g/100 g, respectively) as compared to those nourished with inorganic fertilizer (2.28 g/100 g). All organically grown lettuce plants had lower levels of Ca, K, and Mg, and higher P compared to the control. Moreover, all organic NS resulted in lower leaf nitrate levels (ranging from 3.2 to 8.7 mg/kg) compared to the inorganic NS (259.8 mg/ kg) based on dry weight. Our findings suggest that organic liquid fertilizers may enable the sustainable production of safe, nutritious, and healthy vegetable crops. However, further study is required to improve and overcome the limitations of such systems
GRAPHENE 2D HETEROSTRUCTURES FOR THZ APPLICATIONS
THz technology is a promising field that has various applications in communication, medical imaging and diseases’ detection, scanning, and the food industry. Since THz technology is still in its early stages, there is a lot of work to be done to obtain devices that work efficiently in the THz range. One of these devices is THz absorbers that are the basic building blocks for the next generation THz systems whether in communication systems, imaging or shielding. THz absorbers are structures that can absorb electromagnetic waves in the THz range (0.1-10 THz). THz absorbers can be wideband (absorb a wide range of THz frequencies) or selective frequency absorbers (absorb a specified THz frequency). The aim of this study is to reach a nearly perfect selective THz absorber with near unity absorption based on 2D materials. 2D materials are known to have low cost, and they are abundant, and easy to fabricate through typical techniques like chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and dry transfer. The focus of the work is to study the characteristics of recently reviewed materials like MoS2 and phosphorene and their heterostructures characteristics with graphene then utilizing these properties to design an absorber. This study is a theoretical based one, where the finite element method (FEM) is used to simulate the final design that was based on the previous experimental and theoretical calculations. The simulation was verified by applying the transmission circuit theory that verifies the high absorption of the structure. The proposed structure is the first to have a high absorption above 90% and that reaches 95% for some frequencies that is based on 2D materials without including noble materials like gold and silver to increase its absorption. The device is electrically tunable through most of the THz spectrum (1.3 THz -10 THz) that surpasses previous metamaterial absorbers which have limited range tunability. These characteristics enable easy fabrication and low-cost preparation that is considered an advancement in the THz absorbers
TRANSFORMER BASED DEEP LEARNING MODEL FOR SIGN LANGUAGE RECOGNITION
Sign language recognition research aims to develop systems and tools that can interpret and translate sign language into text or spoken language. During the past two decades, the challenges faced in this domain are multifaceted. This thesis on sign language recognition aims to address some challenges through various approaches. The foremost challenge addressed in this thesis is reduction in accuracy that uses transformer based deep learning architecture in addition to preprocessing steps that include augmentations and transformations. The augmentations and transformation helped increase the data size. Specifically, in-house signs were generated using different persons for initial results. The video frames generated included facial expressions and both fingers, which were later stacked. Later, the model was validated using generic sign languages to address improvement in accuracy. For producing results, the model was trained and tested on a set of frames. The comparisons with existing works are tabulated
THE SPECIFIC JURISDICTION OF THE MAJOR AND MINOR CRIMINAL COURTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FEDERAL CRIMINAL PROCEDURE LAW
This study deals with the rules of specific jurisdiction for the major and minor criminal courts in accordance with the Federal Code of Criminal Procedure, where specific jurisdiction is one of the most important jurisdictions stipulated by the federal legislator, by allocating specific courts to specific types of crimes, after the general rule was that the court of misdemeanors and violations was competent to try those accused of committing A misdemeanor, or a violation, the Criminal Court has jurisdiction over felonies. In light of this, the federal legislator in the United Arab Emirates has singled out a new system with regard to specific jurisdiction, distinguishing between the major and minor criminal courts in terms of their jurisdiction and in terms of the number of judges in forming the two courts. The most important results The crime punishable by death or life imprisonment is within the jurisdiction of the Major Criminal Court, which is composed of three judges, and the crime punishable by temporary imprisonment is within the jurisdiction of the Minor Criminal Court, which is composed of one judge. Among the most important recommendations contained at the conclusion of the letter: We propose to the legislator to amend Articles “121, 122, and 123 of the Code of Criminal Procedure” regarding referring the incident to court, that is, it was not stated whether the referral would be to the major or minor criminal court, the legislator was satisfied with it.” at the criminal court . The proposed amendment to Article 122 of the Federal Criminal Procedure Code: “If the Director of Public Prosecution or his representative sees that the incident is a felony punishable by retaliation, death, or life imprisonment, and that the evidence against the accused is sufficient, he decides to refer him to the High Criminal Court, and if the incident is a felony punishable by imprisonment.” Temporary and that the evidence is sufficient, he decides to refer him to the Minor Criminal Court, and if there is doubt as to whether the incident is a minor felony punishable by temporary imprisonment, or a misdemeanor, he shall refer him to the Major Criminal Court as a felony.
