The rapid growth in mobile applications raises critical concerns about the security of apps and users\u27 privacy, especially in permission control. Mobile apps access sensitive information of users, and the current cybersecurity landscape faces a huge challenge in ensuring the least required permissions are granted. This research focuses on designing an advanced permission recommendation system that couples the strengths of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning (ML) in solving most of the existing gaps in permission management, thus guiding which permissions are mostly needed by Android applications. The research thus follows a multi-classification approach, integrating state-of-the-art ML techniques with feature extraction via the NLP methods. The Key elements of information extracted from application descriptions then utilized by the system in the detection of patterns and hidden insight, forming permission recommendations. These insights enable ML models to predict, for each application, a minimum yet adequate set of permissions, enhancing security and maintaining user privacy. It dynamically suggests permissions in real-time, so that an application requests only what it really needs. This approach not only strengthens the security capabilities of Android applications but also ensures respect for user privacy through the avoidance of excessive permission requests. This paper presents a new permission recommendation system as it significantly contributes to creating a more secure and user-centric environment in Android. These results will contribute to enhancing the security of mobile applications and set a base for future improvements in permission recommendation systems crucial for safeguarding user data and fostering trust in digital ecosystems

The Crime of Indecent Assault in UAE Law The crime of indecent assault is considered one of the serious offenses condemned by UAE law due to its violation of human dignity and ethical and social values. This research focuses on the evolution of legal texts related to this crime, particularly the changes introduced in Federal Decree-Law No. 31 of 2021 concerning crimes and punishments, compared to the UAE Penal Code of 1987. The research also addresses the amendments made to the rules governing this crime, such as raising the age of the victim from 14 to 18 years and abolishing the crime of indecent assault with consent in certain cases. The study highlights that any contact or extension towards the victim’s private areas is considered an indecent assault under the law. It also points out that the degree of breach of modesty plays a crucial role in determining the occurrence and punishment of the crime. Furthermore, the study explores the judicial rulings related to this crime and how they have evolved to align with the social and cultural changes in the UAE.Among the key findings is that indecent assault through surprise, deceit, or trickery occurs only when the victim does not consent to the continuation of the acts against them. The concept of modesty varies across different societal groups, social environments, and values embraced by individuals within the same society. The study recommends that the UAE judiciary should not attribute consent to indecent assault cases falling under the first paragraph of Article 407. It also suggests that the UAE legislator should classify domestic workers as victims of indecent assault under the categories exempt from consent in the second paragraph of Article 407, as they are entrusted to their employers

USE OF CEMENT-FREE GEOPOLYMER COMPOSITES IN DIFFERENT CONSTRUCTION APPLICATIONS

    No full text
The demand for sustainable and eco-friendly construction materials has driven significant interest in the development of cement-free Geopolymer (GP) composites. A comprehensive scientometric analysis was conducted, highlighting a steady increase in research on geopolymer materials since 2013, with fire resistance, corrosion protection, and repair being the most studied applications. However, gaps remain in areas like 3D printing, heavy metals absorption, rehabilitation and repair, screed flooring, and shotcrete. The review emphasized the need for further investigation into lifecycle assessments and the potential use of diverse alumina- and silica-rich binders to enhance the environmental and mechanical properties of geopolymers. Accordingly, this thesis explores the potential use of GP composites in various construction applications as sustainable alternatives to traditional cementitious materials, with a focus on screed, repair, and shotcrete. The study investigates the performance of GP screed composites in comparison to cement-based screeds. Although GP screeds exhibited relatively inferior fresh properties compared to their cementitious counterparts, they outperformed them in terms of early strength development, impact resistance, and bond properties. Complying with BS 8204 requirements, GP screeds formulated with dune sand and crushed sand demonstrated superior mechanical properties, classifying them into Categories A and B, respectively, and making them suitable for various flooring applications. Further research into the mechanical, durability, and microstructural properties of GP screeds showed that these composites displayed superior resistance to acidic environments and salt attack compared to cementitious screeds, confirming their long-term durability and stability in harsh conditions. The use of recycled fine aggregates (RFA) in conjunction with steel fibers (SF) was also explored, demonstrating that the inclusion of SF improved the tensile and flexural strengths and impact resistance. Meanwhile, higher RFA content led to a slight reduction in the mechanical strength, particularly at 100% substitution rates. Nevertheless, mixtures with 0%, 25%, and 50% RFA met structural repair requirements, while higher RFA mixes were suitable for non-structural applications only. Subsequently, the feasibility of using GP composites for shotcrete applications was assessed. Results showed that geopolymer shotcrete mortars exhibited appropriate rheological properties and strength development, making them a viable alternative to cement-based counterparts. The study also examined the impact of varying flow rates and spraying distances, confirming that these parameters are critical to optimizing the performance of GP shotcrete. This thesis provides valuable insights into the potential of geopolymer composites to replace traditional cementitious materials in various construction applications. The experimental findings highlighted that the adoption of GP by construction industry contributes to its sustainable development by reducing its environmental impact while enhancing material performance

The aquaculture of shellfish plays a crucial role in enhancing maritime environments by mitigating algal blooms and improving water quality through the filtration of organic matter, nutrients, and bacteria. This study investigated the environmental factors influencing oyster (Pinctada radiata) mortalities through a comprehensive analysis of water quality in Al Mirfa and Al Mughirah farming sites of Abu Dhabi (UAE), from February 2021 to February 2022. To reach such understanding of the main factors led to mass mortalities of cultivated oysters, different monthly sampling and both chemical and biological analyses of the farm water, sediments as well as for both living and dead oyster shells have been carried out during the study period. The results analyses revealed seasonal variations in water temperature, with elevated temperatures adversely affecting physiological rates, growth, and survival of pearl oysters. High seawater temperatures during summer months were identified as a primary factor influencing oyster mortality. Salinity fluctuations and acidic pH conditions negatively impacted oyster health and shell integrity, further increasing mortality rates. Low dissolved oxygen levels, coupled with fouling organism presence, contributed to increased mortality incidents. Toxic dinoflagellates, specifically Pyrodinium bahamense, competed with nutritious algae, causing food shortages and potential toxicity issues, thus triggering oyster mortality. Statistical analyses revealed strong relationships between oyster mortality rates and environmental parameters, with temperature, salinity, pH, dissolved oxygen levels, chlorophyll concentration, and the presence of toxic dinoflagellates identified as significant predictors. This study shows the importance of ongoing monitoring and research to understand the interactions between environmental factors and pearl oyster health for sustainable aquaculture management and marine ecosystem conservation. Moreover, proactive measures such as temperature regulation, harmful algal bloom control, and water quality management are essential for minimizing the impact of environmental stressors on pearl oyster populations
