    Impact of Transformational Leadership on Project Success: The Moderating Role of Emotional Intelligence of Leaders

    Purpose:This study examined the impact of transformational leadership on project success with the moderating role of emotional intelligence. Design/Methodology/Approach:The study was conducted on NGOs providing healthcare services in Lahore, Pakistan. This study was quantitative in nature.  Data was gathered from 260 respondents through standardized questionnaire working on healthcare projects of Lahore.  SPSS 22 was applied for data analysis Findings:The findings of this study showed the insignificant effect of transformational leadership on project success. However, a very strong impact of moderator i-e emotional intelligence was observed   among the relationship of transformational leadership and project success. The theoretical and practical implications of study are substantial addition for the future researchers in the domain of project management. Implications/Originality/Value:Theoretically, this study demonstrates that the association between TL and PS with influence of the Emotional Intelligence has direct and significant. As a result, it supports the literature’s recommendation to evaluate the relationship between Transformational Leadership Style and PS with the moderator i.e. emotional intelligence. The findings suggest that Pakistani healthcare NGOs enterprises must seek for emotionally intelligent transformational leaders as well as proficiency in basic managing abilities while hiring. Furthermore, existing employees must be teaching to improve their Emotional Intelligence by enrolling in professional training

    Impact of High Commitment HRM Practices on the Non-Academic Staff Performance: Mediating Role of Affective Commitment and Job Satisfaction

    Purpose: The purpose of this study is to scrutinize the relationship between non-academic staff and student support services by developing a conceptual model of the mediation impact of affective commitment and job satisfaction on the relationship between high commitment HRM practices and non-academic staff performance. Design/Methodology/Approach:      For this study, primary data has been collected from survey methods of 250 respondents from non-academic staff and students of HEIs in public and private sectors. In order to examine the mediating mechanism of variables, 8 hypotheses were constructed based on the conceptual model and literature study and tested using the SPSS 25 and Smart PLS using the bootstrapping approach. Findings: The study's findings demonstrate that high-commitment HRM practices have a statistically significant influence on non-academic staff perceptions of behavioral outcomes such as affective commitment and satisfaction. Likewise, the extracted results show a statistically positive association between non-academic performance and student support services. Implication/Originality/Value: HEIs carry out HCHRPs, they will be able to replicate the level of organizational commitment and job satisfaction of their administrative staff which lead to student support services

    Impact of Regional Economic Integration on FDI in SAARC Countries

    Purpose: The empirical literature is inconclusive regarding whether some regions are more effective than others at attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). The article aims to ascertain the effect of regional economic integration on FDI in SAARC member countries from 1998 to 2017. Design/Methodology/Approach: Mix research technique has been used. While qualitative research entails in-depth literature readings and reports, quantitative analysis entails presenting data via graphs and tables. Findings: Findings suggest a significant positive connection between FDI and regional integration in the SAARC economies. While regional integration has a vital role in increasing SAARC's share of global commerce, it has increased FDI inflows and its share in Asia and the world. As a result, while we cannot overlook both classic and non-traditional economic factors affecting FDI, regional integration may play a critical role in fostering FDI growth. Implications/Originality/Value: By boosting cross-border investment, regional cooperation will allow businesses, particularly those from smaller nations, to expand their size and capabilities to compete worldwide. It can also aid in increasing efficiency and reforming industries. SAARC countries must make significant progress toward integration

    Changing Oil Prices, Exchange Rates and its Impact on Inflation in Pakistan

    Purpose: The key objective of the analysis is to explore the impact of oil prices and exchange rates on the inflation rate in Pakistan by using annual time-series data from the period 1980 to 2020. Design/Methodology/Approach: The augmented Dickey-Fuller test, bound test approach, and ARDL model are applied to achieve the objectives of the study. Findings: It is found that the crude oil prices and real effective exchange rate are found to be significant factors that influence the inflation rate in Pakistan. The other findings explored that money supply, exports, and gross fixed capital formation are positively related to the inflation rate. Implications/Originality: The author’s recommended that policymakers should take steps to control the inflation rate by regulating the fiscal and monetary policy measures in the right direction

    The Impact of Capital Structure and Ownership Structure on Financial Performance: A Study on the KSE 100 Listed Firms in the Pakistan Stock Exchange

    Purpose: This research study aimed to examine the impact of capital structure and ownership structure on the financial performance of KSE-100 index firms on the Pakistan Stock Exchange. Design/Methodology/Approach: 100 listed companies have been selected as sample for the study but due to data limitations, 90 companies' annual data has been used for 2009-2018. Ordinary least square regression was used on the panel data for analysis. Two measures of capital structure (debt-to-equity ratio and debt to total assets) while three measures of ownership structure (Foreign ownership, Institutional ownership, and managerial ownership) have been used to determine their impact on three financial performance measures (return on assets, return on equity, and Tobin's).  Findings: The results of this study showed that there is a significant negative relationship between financial performance and capital structure. Ownership structure and firm financial performance showed a significant positive relationship when measured on the basis of foreign ownership and institutional ownership while insignificant and negatively related to managerial ownership. Implications: This study suggests that organizations should take financing decisions in accordance with optimum capital structure because more debt decreases financial performance. Furthermore, a decision should be taken the encouragement of foreign and institutional shareholding, while the level of managerial ownership should be lessened to enhance financial performanc

    Purpose: The study emphasized on perceived career success of female faculty members working on the basis of Basic Pay Scale (BPS) in public sector universities of Punjab, Pakistan. Design/Methodology/Approach: A Total of 253 female academicians working in public sector universities had participated in this study. The survey questionnaire was adopted from authentic sources and evaluated for validity and reliability. MPlus software has been used for statistical findings. Findings: It has been estimated statistically that perceived organizational justice has partial mediating effect between political personality traits and perceived career success. Whilst having full mediating relationship between HRM practices and perceived career success of female faculty members. Implications/Originality/Value: It might be concluded that all the public sector universities must follow the same policies and laws but there are some cultural differences. However, federal chartered universities are paying different salaries from the Punjab/provincial chartered universities. It creates disparity amongst the faculty members working in government sector universities. The study highlighted such issues

    Cotton Growers Perception Level Regarding Pesticides Practices and Toxic Effects of Pesticides on Cotton Plants as Well as the Environment in Sindh

    Purpose: Pesticides are used to stop or control insects, for instance, weeds, dreadful little creatures, and plant pathogens. The perception among cotton growers of beneficial and harmful effects of pesticides on cotton plant and environment, factors concerning with pesticides applications have a very essential role to get maximum yield. Design/Methodology/Approach: The 300 samples were collected for this study and the reliability of the questionnaire is checked by Cronbach's Alpha test its worth was 0.92 and items were perfectly correlated to one another. The majority of respondents' age was 31-40 years with education level matriculation. Unfortunately, the low literacy rate and education level of the respondents is discouraging. It is also noticed that a large number of respondents had 31- above acres size of land from which 16-20 acres were used for cotton cultivation. The test statistic provided all probability values are highly significant Findings: In conclusion, cotton growers have sufficient knowledge about pesticide practices and excessive usage of pesticides harms the cotton plant as well. It is quite right that pesticides are the major cause of environmental pollution

    Perception and Behavior of Teachers about Teacher Targeted Bullying and its Prevention in Tertiary Education Institutes

    Purpose: In the past, a number of research studies have been done on bullying, but most of them are in the context of student’s bullying students. The present study highlighted an important issue of teachers being bullied by their students. The purpose of the study was to examine the perception and behavior of teachers about teacher targeted bullying (TTB) and prevention of TTB. Design/Methodology/Approach: This study was quantitative in nature. The sample comprised of all public and private tertiary education institutions/ colleges of Lahore. The data was collected from one hundred fifty teachers through cluster sampling technique from six public and private tertiary education institutions/ colleges. A self-developed instrument, comprising of statements on frequency, perception, behavior and preventive measures on teacher targeted bullying was used to collect data from respondents. Findings: The results indicate that the teachers’ awareness level about TTB is low. Furthermore, they are also not aware about the types of bullying they are facing. The response of teachers on preventing bullying is also not very positive while very less teachers are prone to take preventive measures to stop or reduce bullying. The tests on demographic variables indicate that there is difference in opinion on basis of age and work experience of teachers towards teacher targeted bullying. Implications: Based on results it can be recommended that there is need to aware teachers and administrators about teacher targeted bullying so that they can voice up against it. Additionally, this can also be recommended that the policy clauses should be added and displayed at institutes about teacher targeted bullying

    Purpose: The aim of this study is to examine the influence of Employee Perception, Barriers towards career development and HRM Strategies on Employee Career Development in the telecommunication sector of Pakistan. Design/Methodology/Approach: This study adopted quantitative approach using questionnaires. The data was collected from 203 employees working in Telecommunication companies of Pakistan. The selection criterion of the respondents was based on convenient random sampling. Statistical analysis was performed using Structural Equation Modeling – Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). Findings: The findings revealed that Employee Perception and HRM Strategies significantly impact Employee Career Development. At the same time, Barriers towards career development also have insignificant impact on Employee Career Development. Implications/Originality/Value: This study shall significantly contribute in developing the fair Human Resource Management (HRM) strategies, positive employee perception and that can improve the performance of employees and help them develop the skills they need to establish a human resource sector
