    Supplier Relationship Management Practices Procurement Ethics and Supply Chain Performance in County Governments

    Purpose:The broad objective was to establish the moderating effect of procurement ethics on the relation between supplier relationship management practices and supply chain performance of Kenyan selected county governments. Design/Methodology/Approach:The study employed descriptive survey research design and targeted 112  procurement staff.Stratified and simple random techniques were used. Structured questionnaires were used for data collection. For data analysis descriptive and inferential statistics were utilized. Findings:The study found that procurement ethics had a positive and significant moderating effect on the relation between supplier relationship management practices and supply chain performance of Kenyan selected county governments. Implications/Originality/Value:The study makes a contribution on the critical role procurement ethics plays in the relationship between supplier relationship management practices and performance of supply chain. County governments should ensure procurement ethics such as integrity, accountability and transparency are adhered to. The findings may guide in the development and implementation of  procurement ethics policies

    Organizational Citizenship Behaviour and Psychological Contract: The Moderating Role of Ethical Leadership

    Purpose: The psychological contract is commonly cited in studies as a precursor to organizational citizenship behavior. While studies in the past have overlooked various forms of psychological contract i.e., relational, transactional, balanced, and transitional This study aims to investigate the effect of various types of psychological contracts on the organizational citizenship behavior. Design/Methodology/Approach: This study uses survey method for data collection. The data were collected from employees of electrical sector in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In total 400 responses were processed for data analysis. Structural equation modelling technique was used to test hypotheses. Findings: the data providing support for the hypothesis used in the study. And it was found that greater levels of organizational citizenship behavior are influenced by both relational and balanced contracts while the transactional and transitional dimensions of psychological contract reduced organizational citizenship behavior.  In addition, it also confirmed ethical leadership provides boundary conditions between the influence of psychological contract and organization citizenship behavior. Implications/Originality/Value: The outcome is consistent with several earlier studies on psychological contracts and their connection to OCB. The study offers managers a useful understanding of the psychology of employees toward various psychological contract dimensions and how much these elements influence employees' organizational citizenship behavior

    Well-being of Women Entrepreneurs in Pakistan: A Conceptual Review of Challenges and Opportunities

    Purpose: The economic significance of women's entrepreneurship is globally recognized; yet, the pace of women's entrepreneurial activities is slow. The lowering share of women's participation in the entrepreneurial population has been attributed to many reasons but for health. Women entrepreneurs’ health and well-being are important, yet widely neglected notions in research and practice. Especially, in Pakistani patriarchal society women are expected to work (self-employed or organizationally employed) with disproportionate family and work responsibilities. Design/Methodology/Approach: The study provides a conceptual review of key challenges faced by women entrepreneurs. To serve this purpose, relevant literature was selected and reviewed following a four-step procedure. Findings: In fulfilling their traditional roles of house-maker and the need to support family, the mental and physical health of women entrepreneurs is compromised. Findings of this study reveal that role expectation, stress overload, work-life conflict, fear of harassment, and workaholism are among the key factors that challenge the well-being of women entrepreneurs. However, family support, societal approval of their business, and work engagement may serve as an opportunity to improve women entrepreneurs’ well-being. Implications/Originality/Value: The study sheds light on key challenges faced by women entrepreneurs in a developing country context and suggests avenues for further research

    Conceptualizing Peer Effects of Corporate Social Performance on Corporate Financial Performance

    Purpose: Existing approaches to explaining the dynamics of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and corporate financial performance (CFP) through peer effect are incomplete as they do not conceptualize the complexity of the phenomenon. Building on the extant literature the paper aims to critically document parameters to understand the connectivity between peer effect-CSR and CSR-CFP. Design/Methodology/Approach: The paper is based on a proposed conceptual framework identifying key parameters to understand the connectivity between peer effect-CSR and CSR-CFP. Relevant extant literature published during 1993-2017 in high-quality journals is synthesized. This review reveals different approaches and measurement techniques as the basis of inconclusive empirical evidence on the relationship between corporate social and financial performance. Findings: The paper implies that firms mimic their peers’ CSR strategies for different reasons such as reputation or learning in the hope of devising better strategies for growth and sustainable development. To state, there are different motives behind and channels through which peers influence CSR-CFP association. Implications/Originality/Value: The paper establishes a link between corporate social and financial performance through the lens of peer effect, especially in the context of developing economies. This paper has implications in enhancing overall understanding of social responsibility and financial performance connection by providing clarity on underlying themes, theoretical underpinnings and measurement approaches

    Purpose: Malaysia as a rapidly developing country is now immersed in the current technology that makes people less active due to the use of modern equipment such as machines, remote controls, and push-button technology. Coronary heart disease, cancer, and stroke are examples of non-communicable diseases that are closely related to a sedentary lifestyle. Design/Methodology/Approach: The trend of social media influencers such as celebrities, fitness coaches, and health professionals as agents of healthy lifestyles showed positive impacts. The approach in this study will analyze the secondary existing literature on the impact of social media influencers on their followers to change their behavior through the content they create, sharing knowledge and skills to lead a healthy lifestyle. Findings: The conceptual framework was developed based on Self-Determination Theory (SDT) to predict an individual’s health behaviors and attraction to follow social media influencers in social media networking.     A Comprehensive Examination of Internal Factors Impact on Islamic Banks Profitability in Pakistan: A Quantitative Analysis

    Purpose: This study examines the internal factors that are influencing profitability in Pakistani Islamic banks during the period 2016-2021. Design/Methodology/Approach: The analysis utilizes panel data regression models to address potential estimation bias. Findings: The study covers key Pakistani Islamic bank financial performance criteria. Internal factors significantly affect ROE and EPS. Gearing and capital ratios enhance ROE/EPS. Due to increased capitalization and leverage, Islamic banks' capital management is vital to profitability. ROE and NIM models are affected by deposits. Deposit funding drives Islamic bank profitability and interest income. In the NIM model, liquidity and NPL ratios affect ROE and EPS significantly. Asset quality and liquidity management effect interest income, not profits. Bank size does affect ROE and EPS models, which is notable in the findings. Islamic financial institutions can prioritize specialization and efficiency over expansion. These numbers indicate Pakistani Islamic banks' finances. Capitalization, leverage control, and deposit mobilization are key to financial success, while risk management ensures stability and profitability during economic downturns. Implications/Originality/Value: The detailed investigation shows Pakistan's Islamic banking profitability. Deposit management, capital structure, and asset quality impact profitability. Capitalization and leverage improve earnings, therefore financial management matters. Deposit management is vital to profitability since it affects performance. Recession-sensitive Islamic banks show resiliency. NPA mitigation and liquidity management affect net interest margin, as a key driver. This research offers valuable insights for internal management strategies and regulatory frameworks aimed at enhancing the stability and growth of Islamic banking in the region

    Board Attributes and Firm Performance of Non-Financial Listed Firms in Pakistan: Role of Ownership Structure

    Purpose: This research intends to explore the impact of board attributes on the performance of non-financial listed firms in Pakistan and how ownership structure plays a moderating role in shaping this link. This research posits that institutional shareholders possess motivations to enhance board governance due to their advanced financial knowledge and managerial expertise. Methodology: Four attributes of the board (board size, women on board, board independence, and board busyness) were studied to see the impact. The firm performance was measured using Tobin Q. The present study employs 80 non-financial listed firms in its sample, and the multiple regression approach was used to inspect a 12-year panel dataset. Findings: The results discovered that board size has a positive and significant influence on the performance of companies. However, board independence and women on board have a significant negative effect on firm performance. Moreover, the outcomes of this study indicate that the ownership structure acts as a moderator, influencing the correlation between board attributes (board size and board busyness) with non-financial listed firms’ performance in Pakistan. Implications: The current study provides useful insight into this relationship to the policymakers, government, researchers, and other stakeholders. Therefore, based on this study's findings, non-financial firms listed in Pakistan should consider adopting institutional shareholding as a strategy to strengthen their capacity to secure long-term financing to support their growth initiatives

    A Case of a South African Municipality's Audit Opinion, Audit Implementation Plan, and Service Delivery

    Purpose: This study aimed to establish the perceptions of employees of a municipality in South Africa on how audit opinions are crafted into the audit implementation plan, and how such opinions affect service delivery. Design/Methodology/Approach: The study adopted a quantitative approach using a questionnaire as a data collection instrument. A case study approach was used, with the questionnaire administered to only one municipality that had had an audit opinion in the past three years.  Findings: The study found that some staff were not aware of the existence of the Audit Implementation Plan in the municipality. However, the respondents acknowledged the implications of audit opinions for the municipality’s budget and service delivery. Furthermore, employees showed positive attitudes towards the effects of audit opinions on the municipality’s operations. Implications/Originality/Value: The findings have implications for public governance and monitoring of audit implementation plans by municipalities. &nbsp

    Business Model for Virtual Programs in the Event Organizer Company: An Analysis

    Purpose: This study aims to determine the development strategies that are applied by event organizer company in the virtual event program as an alternative to business development in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0. Design/Methodology/Approach: This research uses a qualitative descriptive method by collecting data using in-depth interviews with several key informants, including business owners, employees, and customers of event organizer companies that organize virtual event programs. The object of this research is the business model canvas for the virtual event program which is formulated from the results of primary and secondary data collection. Findings: The business development strategy implemented for holding virtual events is outlined in a business model canvas consisting of nine components, including (1) value proposition, (2) customer segments, (3) customer relationships, (4) customer channels, (5) revenue, (6) key activities, (7) key resources, (8) key partnerships, and (9) cost structures. Implications/Originality/Value: This research provides benefits which are the business models that can be applied by industry practitioners in virtual event programs to adapt to the development of industrial revolution 4.0. For education, this research can be a reference for research on event organizer business development strategies
