    NURSES' CARING BEHAVIORS IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PERIOPERATIVE NURSING CARE IN PUBLIC HOSPITALS OF BAHTERAMAS KENDARI

    Introduction. Caring is the main focus in the field of nursing. Caring relate to the quality of nursing care. Public demand to the quality of nursing care is increasing. The purpose of this study was to analyze the nurses’ caring behavior in the implementation of perioperative nursing care in public hospitals of Bahteramas Kendari. Methode. This research was qualitative research: naturalistic. Participant selection method used was purposive sampling as many as six participants (nurses). The data obtained through observation using the observation guide in the form of a nurse caring behavior assessment instrument that Thai Nurses' Caring Behavior (TNCB). Qualitative data analysis was done interactively and lasted continuously until complete, so that the data was saturated. Result. Results of the study showed that participants described caring behavior quite well, although not all aspects of the nurse caring behaviors can be done. Discussion. Increasing in knowledge and skills nurses need to be done in an effort to develop caring in the practice of nursing services included in perioperative nursing care.Keywords: Caring, Nurse, Perioperative Nursing Car

    INTERVENSI EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE (EFT) UNTUK MENGURANGI NYERI POST OPERASI SECTIO CAESARIA (SC)

    Introduction: Every woman who undergo Sectio Caesaria (SC) surgery for delivery their babies often complain about pain after the surgery and it become very distrubing. The effect of the pain cause mobilisation limitation, interrupting bonding attachment between mother and child, and postponning breastfeeding inititation. This study conduct EFT or tapping as the pain management in women post SC surgery.The aim of this study is to identify the effect of EFT or tapping for reducing pain after SC surgery. Methods: Quasy experimental with pre-post non randomized control group design was used in this study. The data been colleted using Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) to measure the pain in participants before and after EFT or tapping treatment. The number of participants was 30 mothers with 15 women in control and treatment group respectively. The t-test was used to analize the effect of the EFT. Results: The mean of pain scale before treatment in control group was 5.20 dan 6.20 for the treatment group. The pain scale after treatment in control group was 5.00 and 4.27 in treatment group. There was a significant difference between the reducing pain scale in treatment group with p value = 0,000 (α = 0.05). Discussion: EFT or tapping can be one of many non farmacologic treatment as complementer therapy to reduce pain after SC surgery. Keywords: post SC pain, EFT, pain scale decline, non farmacologic therap

    Peer Education Prevents Sexual Risk Behavior Among Adolescents in Rural Area

    Introduction :Adolescence as a transitional period can be a problem because there are many changes in it, both physically, psychologically, and intellectually, that make them as a population vulnerable to perform risky behaviors, included sexual risk behavior. Peers have an important role in the social life of adolescents because teenagers spend more time with friends and generally teens also make their peers as a role model in behaving.This study aims to determine the effect of peer-based education in the prevention of sexual risk behavior among adolescents in rural areas Methods:This type of research is a pre-experimental quantitative study with a one-group pre-post test design. The research was conducted on April-June 2017 with 61 respondents which were selected by purposive sampling method. The research instrument used questionnaire. Results :The result of data analysis used Paired Simple T Test was found that there were significant differences in the prevention of sexual risk behavior among adolescents in rural area before and after been given sexual education through peer education with p value (0,002).Proper timing of education, a conducive environment and a good concentration in learning make education work optimally.Conclusions :There is a significant effect of peer education in the prevention of sexual risk behavior among adolescents in rural areas.     THE EFFECT OF TAPPING THERAPY ON BLOOD GLUCOSE LEVELS IN TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS PATIENTS AT PURWOKERTO

    Introduction: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disease that can lead to microvascular and macrovascular complications. This condition makes DM patients at higher risk of experiencing stress. Tapping Therapy is one of nursing intervention that can reduce stress. The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of tapping therapy on blood glucose levels in Primary Health Center South Purwokerto. Methods: This research was a quantitative with a quasi experimental with control group, recruited 30 respondents, consisted of 15 respondents who were trained on tapping therapy, one time daily for 30 minutes for four weeks and the other respondents were as the control group. The purposive sampling was used as the sample collection method. Wilcoxon test was employed to examine the differences of the mean of blood glucose levels between intervention and control groups. Results. The result revealed that there was a significant difference of blood glucose levels before and after treatment in intervention group (p = 0.003, α =0.05). Discussion: The conclusion was that the tapping therapy can decrease blood glucose level on type 2 diabetes mellitus patients at Purwokerto. This research recommendation was to apply tapping therapy to patient with diabetes mellitus at least one time daily for 30 minute. Keyword: blood glucose, diabetes, tapping therap

    SPOUSE'S COUNTER PRESSURE PRACTICE METHOD FOR REDUCING PAIN OF MOTHER'S IN FIRST STAGE LABOUR

    Introduction. Pain in childbirth cause the psychological disorders for mothers, such as 87% of postpartum blues, 10% of depression and 3% of psychosis. One method to reduce the pain of childbirth is to give counter pressure on the sacral region, but the application of this method is usually only done by health workers. The purpose of this study was to describe the practice of counter-pressure made by the husband and wife to relieve pain in labour. Method. Research method used descriptive analytic design. As the population were 40 husbands who waiting for their wifes at first stage of labour. The husbands have been trained about counter-pressure methods. The sampling method used consecutive sampling method. Result. Obtained 75% husbands did well for practicing counter-pressure method, 60% women claimed reducing of pain after given counter- pressure by their husband. Discussion. This is importance to spouse presence in first stage labour for reducing the pain of mothers in childbirth.Keywords: counter pressure method, pain of childbirth, the husband practice

    ERGONOMIC EXERCISES TO DECREASE JOINT PAIN SCALE AND MUSCLE STRENGTH IN ELDERLY

    Introduction. Epidemiological data showed an increased prevalence of chronic pain and weakness in the elderly. Nonpharmacological modality therapy is a component of multi modal management that very important for pain management, including Ergonomic Exercises. The aims of the study was to determine the effect of activity therapy ergonomic exercises to decrease joint pain scale, and to increase muscle strength in elderly with joints degenerative. Method. Quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest control group design was carried out in this study. Purposive sampling was used to identify the study subjects. A sample of 50 elderly was included in the study for experimental (17) and control (33) groups. Sampling technique used purposive sampling. T-test, Wilcoxon, and two sample Wilcoxon rank-sum, tests were used to analysis the data. Results. During the four weeks intervention of ergonomic exercise, there were significant decreases in scale joint pain in elderly with degenerative joint by P value 0.000 (α < 0.05), and increases in muscle strength by P value 0.002 for muscles pull and P value 0,0001 for muscles push. Discussion. Activity therapy of an ergonomic exercise has significant influence to decrease joint pain scale and to increase muscle strength in elderly with degenerative joints.Keywords: joint degenerative, elderly, joint pain, muscle strength, ergonomic exercise

    SIDE EFFECTS THE DRUGS AND NUTRITIONAL STATUS OF THE BTA CONVERSION FAILURE IN LUNG TUBERCULOSIS PATIENTS

    Introduction. The successful management of pulmonary TB can be seen by evaluating the results of treatment. Evaluation of the success in intensive phases of treatment visits and evaluation of bacteriological namely the conversion of BTA (+) sputum (-). This study aimed to analyze the infl uence of side effects the drugs and nutritional status of the BTA conversion failure. Methods. Types of analytical research with case control approach, which was done in Pulmonary Medicine Center of Medan. The study population consisted of the population, namely the case of patients who failed conversion of BTA (+) and a control population that patients with smear conversion (-) after undergoing intensive treatment phase. Samples in the case group were 32 cases and samples in the control group 64 cases. Data were analyzed by Chi-Square test. Result. Results showed variable drug side effects and signifi cantly affect the status of the failure of BTA conversion value (p = 0.022) and (p = 0.041). Discussion. Needs to be improved the ability of health workers to carry out the treatment of side effects the drugs by the availability of pharmaceutical preparations in order to side-effects that occur do not result in the cessation of the patient to take medication.Keywords: Side effects of drugs, nutritional status, conversion BT

    PHENOMENOLOGICAL STUDY: QUALITY OF LIFE OF ADOLESCENT WITH CANCER

    Introduction. Adolescent is a period growth and development between children and adult. Cancer diagnosed at adolescent age can made them under pressure and full of stress. The aim of the study was to explore a deeper description about quality of life of adolescent with cancer. Method. The study used phenomenology descriptive design with purposive sampling. In-depth interview was held on six adolescent with cancer. Transcript verbatim was analyzed using Colaizzi. Result. The themes were dimension of physical, cognitive, psychology, social, adaptive coping mechanism, and hope. The study concluded that adolescent with cancer dealing with many changing on quality of life but some can build adaptive coping mechanism with their condition and increased their quality of life. Discussion. Child nurse have a big role to increase quality of life of adolescent with cancer by giving a holistic and comprehensive nursing care.Keyword: adolescent, cancer, quality of life, phenomenolog

    QUALITY LIFE OF WOMEN WITH HIV/AIDS BASED ON CD4 AND DISCLOSURE HIV STATUS IN BANDUNG AND CIMAHI

    Introduction: Women become most vulnerable groups of contracting HIV from a partner or husband. This study aimed to explore the different of quality of life of women with HIV/AIDS based on CD4 levels and exposure status. Method:Sampling technique with purposive sampling, 60 samples were obtained according to criteria. Variable data using the WHO Quality of life (QOL), CD4 levels of data using secondary data and data disclosure using the status of closed questions. Univariate analysis of the frequency distributions and bivariate analysis used t tests. Results: The average of quality of life of respondents with HIV is 82.92 (SD = 4,534), while for respondents with AIDS is 80.45 (SD = 4284).There was statistically significant difference between average quality of life of respondents with HIV with respondents with AIDS (P value = 0.043). Averagequality of life of respondents who did not open status disclosure is 81.07 (SD 4,128), while the open status of respondents openness average quality of life was 85.14 (SD = 4,688). There was statistically significant difference between average quality of life of respondents who openness status is not open to the respondent that the openness of the open status (P value = 0.003). Discussion: Suggestions for nurses were to increase the role in providing motivation for PLHIV women to regularly check the levels of CD4, to assist PLWHA in ARV consumption through home care, as a health educator for PLWHA families and communities and as a researcher in identify measures that can improve the quality of life of women with HIV/AIDS. Keywords: HIV/AIDS, CD4, disclosure of status, Quality of lif

    WOUND CARE USING HONEY TOWARD CALCULATION VALUE AND TYPE OF LEUKOCYTE IN POST-HERNIOTOMY PATIENTS

    Introduction. The number of hernia sufferers in Ambarawa Government Hospital ( RSUD Ambarawa) increased into 1.2% within two decades, which were in 2012 and 2013. There were 14 people (4,2 %) were infected. The purpose of this research was to know the effect of wound care using honey toward leukocytes calculation value and leukocytes type in post-herniotomy patients in Ambarawa Government Hospital ( RSUD Ambarawa ).Method. This research used quantitative research method with quasi experiment design, and it used Post Test with control design. The population of this research was the post-herniotomy patients (The number of population was 20 people). The number of population was divided into two groups. 10 people were treated with honey, and the other 10 people were treated by using povidon iodine. Moreover, this research used incidental sampling technique. Result. The research result with independent t-test, it showed that there was difference between leukocytes calculation value with p-value 0,041 and there was no difference on monocytes, lymphocyte, and granulocytes calculation value between treatment group and control group with p-value 0.714; 0.222; and 1.00. Discussion. From the research result, It can be concluded that there was effect on leukocytes calculation value and there was no effect on monocytes, lymphocytes, and granulocytes calculation value in post-herniatomy patients who were treated with honey compared to those patients who were treated by using povidine iodine.
