    Antimicosis activity of chloroform fraction of ethanol extract Soursop Leaves (Annona muricata, L.)

    Fungal infections are often found in the community, some antifungal drugs have been less effective so it is necessary to look for new candidate drugs as antimycotic, one of the candidates is soursop leaf (Annona muricata, L.). Soursop leaves contain compounds alkaloids, polyphenols, flavonoids, triterpenoids that function as antifungals. The purpose of this study was to determine the antifungal activity of the n-hexane fraction of the Soursop ethanol extract of the fungus Candida albicans and determine the class of compounds that act as antimycotic. Soursop leaf was extracted by maceration method using ethanol 96% then fractionated by partition method using chloroform solvent. The chloroform fraction was tested for antifungal activity against the fungus Candida Albicans by diffusion method with a concentration variation of 10%, 20%, and 30%. then identified by UV-VIS and FTIR spectrophotometry to determine active compounds as antifungals. The results showed that the Soursop leaf chloroform fraction had the highest antifungal activity at a concentration of 30% with an inhibitory diameter of 25.4 mm which was categorized strong. Compounds that are suspected to have antifungal activity from the soursop leaf chloroform fraction are terpenoid compounds. The results of this study are expected to provide scientific information to the public about the benefits of soursop leaves as an alternative treatment for fungal infections caused by the fungus Candida Albicans

    The parasite density and erythrocyte sedimentation rate on patients with uncomplicated tropical Malaria In two community health centre of West Lombok

    Malaria infections are often associated with the activation of coagulation and fibrinolytic systems. An increase number of fibrinogen levels in severe malaria and the increase of fibrinogen also stimulated the increase of erythrocytes sedimentation rate. The aim of this study is to find out about the effects of high parasitemia to erythrocyte sedimentation rate in patients with uncomplicated tropical malaria. Samples are collected using the Purposive Samplings method. To determined the effect of parasite density to erythrocytes sedimentation rate (ESR) levels (mm/h), the data were analyzed using the Non-Parametric Kruskal Wallis test (α=0,05). From 8 samples, 2 subjects (25%) has ++ (2+) densities with 35 and 46 mm/h; 3 subjects (37,5%) has +++ (3+) densities with 10, 65 and 70 mm/h; and also 3 other subjects (37,5%) has ++++ (4+) densities with 21, 44, and 70 mm/h. The Non-parametric Kruskal Wallis test shows that p-value 0,932 >α, means there is no effect of parasitic density on ESR levels in patients with uncomplicated tropical malaria. Using the ESR as the only-main biomarker in assessing the severity of malaria is an inaccurate idea because the ESR is more likely a non-specific test, therefore another blood test is needed to establish a diagnosis of malaria severity

    Analysis of bulk oil in Tulungagung district on physical and chemical properties

    This study aims to analyze the quality of Bulk frying oil in the Tulungagung district. Four samples were a test using physical parameters, organoleptic, density, and viscosity, while the chemical parameters were a test or the value of free fatty acids, acid numbers, and peroxide numbers. Comparison of the results of the analysis with SNI (Indonesian Standard Oil Quality), the four samples have poor chemical properties quality, it could be known by the acid number of samples 0.56, 0.78, 0.78, 1.65 (%) and Free fatty acids number 2.86, 9.98, 4.23, 6.7 (%) are higher than SNI 0.3 and 0.6 (%), even sample D has a poor peroxide number. So that overall, it is shown that the quality of Bulk oil from the samples used is not good enough

    Hyperglycemia due to abnormal insulin secretion, insulin work or both. Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is the most among other types of diabetes mellitus. Diabetes mellitus is usually accompanied by dyslipidemia. Dyslipidemia is a disorder of lipid metabolism or cholesterol characterized by an increase or decrease in lipid fraction in the plasma. Diabetes mellitus and elevated Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels are often found to be interrelated. The purpose of this study was to describe Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL) levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The research design used was descriptive non-analytic. The population in this study were all patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus using a purposive sampling technique of 30 samples. Data collection was carried out by observing the medical record data of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL) profile data for 2017. The results showed that patients with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus suffered the most by male sex with a percentage of 57%, aged over 45 years with a percentage of 97%, and having high LDL levels as much as 40%

    Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease due to an increase in blood glucose levels normal. Gangrene diabetes is tissue death due to obstruction of blood vessels that provides nutrients to obstructed tissue and is a form of complications from diabetes mellitus. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the causes of gangrene infection nosocomial opportunistic infections in humans. The purpose of this study was to determine the presence of gram-negative bacteria in the wounds of Gangrene Diabetes Mellitus. This research is a descriptive Non-Analytic, conducted on April 15 to May 21, 2019, in the Microbiology Laboratory of STIKes Hutama Abdi Husada Tulungagung. The study sample was all patients with Gangrene Diabetes Mellitus wound in hospital dr. Soedomo Trenggalek, the sampling technique used was accidental sampling, obtained a sample of 4 Gangrene swabs. The study was conducted by the identification of gram-negative bacterial isolation. The results of the study were 4 samples, 2 were positive for Pseudomonas aeruginosa and 2 samples were positive for Proteus sp. Subsequent research results were analyzed descriptively. The conclusion of this research is that 100% positive gram-negative.   The typical characteristics of the Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria are obtained on the MCH media (alkaline slope, alkaline base, negative gas, negative H2S) and on the NAS produce greenish-yellow fluorescence, while the typical characteristics of Proteus sp are obtained on the MCH media (alkaline slope, alkaline slope, base negative) acid, positive gas, positive H2S)

    Analysis quality characteristics of virgin coconut oil (VCO): comparisons with cooking coconut oil (CCO)

    This study aims to examine the quality of cooking coconut oil (CCO) and virgin coconut oil (VCO). The analysis was carried out as a physical parameter test including organoleptic and density while the chemical parameter test was: free fatty acid (FFA) peroxide number and test of saponification number. The sample oil used comes from coconut oil made traditionally by virgin coconut oil or commonly abbreviated as VCO, which is coconut oil which passes through a different extraction process with ordinary coconut oil so it is believed to have higher quality and provide more benefits. Samples derived from coconut oil traditionally processed in Beji Village, Boyolangu District with the brand "MALIKA". It was found that both oils had relatively the same physical parameters, the difference in density on VCO and CCO: 0.88 g / ml and 0.82 g / ml. As for the chemical parameters of free fatty acids, peroxide numbers, and saponification numbers of the VCO and CCO comparisons: 0.165: 0.207; 0.54: 0.68; 203: 321, so that the overall VCO has good quality, while CCO has an unfavorable saponification number
