Cultural Study of "Huistenbosch"
Get PDF"Huistenbosch" is known as a name of a theme park, which has been famous for its unique concepts. In this paper, we will examine the brief history and the concepts of "Huistenbosch" from a cultural point of view."Huistenbosch", which was founded in 1992, has often been seen as merely a theme park. But this view is not right when we examine the total concepts of its founder and planners. In fact, it is a part of a wholly new idea of creating a city, which is named "a city of a thousand years" that means it lasts forever. In one aspect,"Huistenbosch" is a historical Holland's town, which attracts many tourists because of its beauty, and another is an ecological model town, which demonstrates an ideal harmony of a nature and a culture. Understanding Discriminative Difficulties in Perceiving English Vowel Minimal Pairs
Get PDF学習者の実際のパラォーマンスと自己評価に基づき、英語の8つの母音のミニマルペアー(最小対立)の識別の難易度に関する調査を行った。分散分析ならび多重比較検定の結果、日本人英語学習者は/∧/-/a/や/〓/-/ou/のミニマルペアーの識別を難しいと感じていること等が明らかになった。さらに、学習者の実際のパラォーマンスと自己評価の間のギャップの大きさを調べたが、相関分析により/〓/-/∧/は相対的にギャップが大きいミニマルペアーで、また、/i/-/i:/は相対的にギャップが小さいミニマルペアーであること等が明らかになった。departmental bulletin pape
A Study on Implication of the Economic Cooperate Regions in Contemporary China
Get PDFThis paper mainly identifies implication of the Economic Cooperate Regions in contemporary China. The reality being that the authority relationship between the central and local governments in contemporary China has become muddled due to its vast geographical area, and complex regional administrative organizations. China has a centralized regime, and basically denounces the idea of local autonomy. In contemporary China, the State Council, as the highest national administrative body, supervises local administrative organs in a unified manner and determines the specific allocation of authority between the central government and local administrative bodies. However, as a matter of fact, because China is geographically enormous, and has local organizations that are becoming complicated, a problem has developed such that the authority relationship between the central and local administration has become obscured. In addition, the vertical administrative structure in the central government is reflected in local administrative bodies, and therefore the "dual control system" at local administrative bodies is also pointed to as an institutional problem. Specifically, under this principle, Chinese local administrations are given guidance from higher administrative bodies as well as local Committees of Chinese Communist Party. On the Omission of the Nominative Relative Pronoun : A Teaching Strategy in Reading English Based on Grammatical Knowledge
Get PDFDespite the widely held view in school grammar that relative pronouns are omitted only when they are assigned the accusative case, there are instances in which they are omitted even when they are assigned the nominative case. The paper documents such examples collected from various sources and further discusses how (and whether) the omission of the nominative relative pronoun should be taught to English learners. Though we suggest how to get access to omitted elements, we will argue that fundamentally nothing new needs to be taught if English learners have knowledge of English grammar regarding the analysis of sentence structures, gaps relating to relative pronouns, usages of that and so on.departmental bulletin pape

An Aspect of the History of the Japanese Bible Translation : On the Verbal Dependence of the Colloquial Japanese Version on the Revised Standard Version in English
Get PDFThis article examines a mistranslation found in the passage of Matthew 6.17 in The Colloquial Japanese Version of the Bible (in Japanese, the title is "Seisho, Kogo-yaku"). In the original Greek version of the New Testament, the passage mentioned above uses the subject "you" in the singular form ("συ"). In The Colloquial Japanese Version however, the same passage uses the subject "you" in the plural form ("Anatagata"). As The Colloquial Japanese Version was supposed to be translated mainly from the English Version commonly known as the Revised Standard Version of the Bible, I believe this to be the root cause of the mistranslation. In other words, I think the mistranslation has to do with the differing uses of the subject "you" in Greek with that of English. In this article, I attempt to explain how and why such an elementary mistake took place. In hopes of avoiding these types of mistranslations in the future, I propose that there be a closer connection between the American Bible Society with the Japan Bible Society.departmental bulletin pape
Emotion and Cognition in Foreign Language Learning
Get PDF国際学会「外国における感情と認識」はドイツのゲッティンゲン大学で2年ごとに行われている。今年は14ケ国からおよそ200名の研究者(神経生物学者、記号論学者、言語学者、文学者、メディア学者、教育学者)が集まって、研究発表及び討論を行った。この研究発表によると、人間の脳は暗記するより問題を解く道具であるという事が分かった。脳に人ってくる情報は二つのグループに分けられる。周知の情報は型にはまってプロセスする、未知の情報はストレスの原因となる。このストレスと不安の状態は解くことが出来るのであれば、つまりもし不安が好ましい経験に変わる事ができれば、新しく人った情報は長期学習の第一歩となる。この最初の一歩は学生の自信を強くする、好奇心をそそる、学習の楽しみの源である。しかし、最初の脳への挑戦がうまく処理できなかったら、悪循環が始まる:ストレス→不安→フラストレーション→回避→自信喪失→学習不可→ストレス。このストレスと不安に対して三つの仕方が発表された:1.学生の以前の経験と能力をつかい、自分自身を高める事2.同僚、先輩、後輩、周囲の人々(信頼のおける人)の力を使って信頼させる事3.宗教、イデオロギー、思想などを信じる事、つまり別な力を使って信頼させる事。脳を甘やかせる事は望ましくない。脳を刺激することが不充分なら能力が減り,認識が少くなり、専門的知識に裏付けられた能力が消えて、脳の量が減少する。教師への提言は、1.学生は新しい情報に挑戦して、その情報が多すぎないように、また少なすぎないようにする。2.学生の問題解決の力を支援する。3.ストレスと不安の感情に対して、信頼関係の環境をつくる。教育的な経験による学習と記号論的な研究によって、感情はすべての言語能力、言語構造に影響を与える。単語、フレーズ、節、文章などは感情コードにとって理解することができる。安楽、同情、尊重、魅力、予期(積極的なレベルから消極的なレベルまで)の感情は言語の中に含まれた感情的場面である。この感情的場面は記憶能力、説明能力、人間の行動、判断、望み、経験を決定する。外国語を教える時は、この感情的場面の相違を教えなければならない。同様に構成主義的なモデルでもこれらの考え方を支持している。このモデルによっては、設計 = エンジン、認識 = エンジンの構造、感情 = ガソリン である。つまりテキストを読解したり、作文したりする事は、認識的過程であり、しかし認識的過程の成功は学生の感情的な状況に依存する。外国語を習得するためには、感情的使用と認識的過程が必要である。departmental bulletin pape
