【教育活動実践報告】表現活動中心の日本語教育におけるスピーチ (Show and Tell)の実施背景、実施方法
This review paper examines presentation assignments designed for non-native speakers of Japanese in an intermediate-level Japanese language course at a university in Japan. Undergraduate students enrolled in the course were required to give presentations in Japanese. Rather than delivering a speech on a single assigned topic, students explored a selection of genres. While students were not encouraged to write a full script in Japanese, they were required to submit an outline of their presentations, including key vocabulary, in advance. The assignments were adapted from basic public speaking tasks typically found in universities in the U.S. The author, through a series of iterations, developed the compare-and-contrast (analytical) speech as a key component of the course. 新聞報道からみるコロナ禍における留学生像(3) -『長崎新聞』を通して振り返る「ウィズコロナ」に至る日本留学生活-
Building upon Haruguchi and Yamamoto (2023, 2024), who analyzed 66 articles containing references to “international students” in Nagasaki Shimbun in 2020, this study examines 31 articles from 2021 and 56 articles from 2022 using KH Coder text analysis software. Through comparative analysis of these three years, we investigate trends and characteristics in how local media portrayed international students to Nagasaki residents. Significant differences emerged between 2021 and 2022, reflecting varying degrees of COVID-19’ s impact. These differences largely correspond to policies regarding the admission of new international students. Nevertheless, interactions with and support for international students were consistently reported, with initiatives by local governments, educational institutions, and community organizations regularly featured throughout the prefecture. The continued positioning of international students as recipients of support suggests that the economic consequences of the pandemic remained significant through 2022. Additionally, this period saw increased attention to new threats beyond COVID-19 affecting international students, particularly fraud and international conflicts.departmental bulletin pape
日本文学授業における主体的な学び -留学生を対象としたアクティブ・ラーニングの実践-
This study examines the effectiveness of active learning in Japanese literature classes for international students. Conducted in the fall semester of 20XX, the course encouraged students to independently select, analyze, and present Japanese literary works, fostering critical thinking and intercultural understanding. A post-course survey revealed that many students experienced not only improved Japanese language skills but also a more profound engagement with the texts and enhanced collaboration through presentations. These findings suggest that active learning is a valuable approach for promoting self-directed learning and intercultural competence in literature education for international students. However, the survey also highlighted challenges such as difficulties in understanding complex vocabulary and expressions specific to literary texts. In response, the study discusses the need for improved instructional support, including supplementary materials and cultural context explanations. This paper presents practical implications for refining literature courses and reinforces the pedagogical value of integrating active learning strategies in multicultural educational settings.departmental bulletin pape

Since its establishment in 2016, the Research Center for Shin-Nagasaki Studies has been collecting Japanese and Foreign books, illustrations, and old photographs related to language research, language education, and Nagasaki’ s local history.
