    Chitin on crab shell waste can be obtained by fermentation process use Rhizopus oryzae. The objective of this research are to determine the optimum of water content on crab shell waste fermentation by Rhizopus oryzae for chitin production. Fermentation process is carried out for 72 hours, 5 of pH, 37oC, and 10% (v/w) of inoculum addition. Water content on fermentation process were varried whithin 40%, 50%, and 60% respectively. Fermentation process were carried out by 40% of water content reported as the optimum based on the deproteinization degree and the solubility in acidic solution

    North Sulawesi is one of the regions in Indonesia which has a wealth of natural resources which is quite abundant, one of the natural potential that can be utilized is White sand. White sand has a composition that is SiO2, CaO, Fe2O3, TiO2, MgO. This study aims to identify the composition of the main components of white sand through XRF testing and the results of extraction of white sand from Marinsow village using the alkaline fusion method, NaOH solution for extracting and crystallizing the formation of silica crystals and tested using XRD testing to determine the crystal characteristics. Extraction and testing processes have been carried out using XRF and XRD on white sand samples taken in Marinsow Village, North Minahasa Regency. The results of the identification of the components of the white sand constituents through XRF testing namely CaO is the largest main component of the white sand compilers in the village of Marinsow which is as much as 89.97%. The content of SiO2 compounds in white sand (Marinsow) is as much as 1.41%. Other components found in white sand from Marinsow village, North Minahasa Regency include MgO as much as 5.85%, SrO as much as 2.31%, Fe2O3 as much as 0.277 %, TiO2 is 0.079%, Cr2O3 is 0.032%, Nb2O5 is 0.0238%, MoO3 is 0.0159%, SnO2 is 0.0082%, Sb2O3 is 0.0079% and RuO4 is 0.0074%. The results of XRD testing on white sand taken in the village of Marinsow give results that white sand has a calcite crystal structure (CaO) and for the SiO2 silica component is quartz

    Physico-chemical Properties of Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans houtt) of North Sulawesi Nutmeg

    Essential oil of nutmeg (Myristica fragrans houtt) is one of the many potentials of nutmeg that has a high economic value although in North Sulawesi it has not been exploited to its full potential. This research was conducted to compare the yield and properties of Nutmeg oil extract from the seeds and mace of Talaud and North Minahasa-North Sulawesi. The oil extract was obtained by distillation and was further characterized in terms of color, solubility in ethanol, density, optical rotation, refractive index.  Results of this research exhibited that oil of the mace of nutmeg from Talaud had a lighter appearance in color compared to that from North Minahasa, while the density of oil extracted from North Minahasa was more densed compared to Talaud in both seed and mace (0.923 and 0.938 respectively at 25°C). The reflective index of nutmeg oil from North Minahasa was slightly higher than of Talaud both from seed and mace (1.4834 and 1.493 at 25°C), while the optical rotations of oil extracted from the mace were between +6.90° to +9.80° and from the seed were +20.73° to +22.30°

    In this study made prebiotic from bioconversion of corn flour (Zea mays L.) by yeast Endomycopsis fibuligera as an alternative substitute for antibiotics. In this study, the addition of Na+, K+, Ca2+, and Mg2+ ions aimed to determine the optimum type and concentration of metal in prebiotic and testing the effect of prebiotic compounds produced on broiler weight gain. The analysis carried out included: reducing sugars, α-amylase and glucoamylase enzyme activity, protein content and cell biomass. To determine the existence of a significant effect, the analysis was carried out on broiler body weight given prebiotic compounds which were added to optimum metal ions and which were given prebiotic compounds without the addition of metal ions. The results showed that the addition of optimum metal ions was obtained on Ca2+ ions with a concentration of 0.25%, where the reducing sugar content of 0.600 mg / mL, the activity of the enzyme α-amylase and glucoamylase 0.519 and 0.287 units / mL, protein content 2.724 mg / mL, cell biomass 10.8933 mg / mL, from observations and statistical tests carried out by giving prebotic compounds by adding metal ions and giving prebiotic compounds without adding metal ions influence broiler weight gain with an average weight difference of 261 grams or 15% on day 30

    This study aims to determine the effect of POGIL learning models on student learning outcomes on acid-base titration subject. This research was conducted in class XI MIPA 2 and XI MIPA 3 in SMA Negeri 1 Kakas. The method used is an experimental method with a post-test only control design research design. The research sample consisted of 30 students, who were randomly drawn. The experimental class uses the POGIL method, the control class uses conventional learning. Student learning outcomes data obtained from post-test scores. Analysis of research data shows that there are differences in the average value of student learning outcomes of the experimental class taught by using the POGIL method and the average value of the learning outcomes of control class students who are taught by using conventional learning on mole concept material. Data analysis using t-test at a significant level α = 0.05. Statistical analysis of student learning outcomes obtained tcount > ttable or 3,078 > 2,048. So it can be concluded that there is a positive influence between student learning outcomes using the POGIL method and student learning outcomes using conventional learning on acid-base titration subject.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran POGIL terhadap hasil belajar siswa pada materi titrasi asam basa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di kelas XI MIPA 2 dan XI MIPA 3 SMA Negeri 1 Kakas. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen dengan desain penelitian post – test only control design. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 30 siswa, yang diambil secara acak. Kelas eksperimen menggunakan model POGIL, kelas kontrol menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Data hasil belajar siswa diperoleh dari nilai post – test. Analisis data penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan nilai rata-rata hasil belajar siswa kelas eksperimen yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan model POGIL dan nilai rata-rata hasil belajar siswa kelas kontrol yang diajarkan dengan mengunakan pembelajaran konvensional pada materi konsep mol. Analisis data menggunakan uji-t pada taraf signifikan α = 0,05. Analisis uji statistik hasil belajar siswa diperoleh nilai thitung > ttabel atau 3,078 > 2,048. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang positif antara hasil belajar siswa yang menggunakan model POGIL dengan hasil belajar siswa yang menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional pada materi titrasi asam basa

    Kulit pisang mengandung  komponen aktif yang dapat dijadikan bahan baku pengembangan produk berpotensi antioksidan, selain itu dapat mengatasi pencemaran limbah kulit pisang. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan uji efektivitas beberapa jenis pelarut polar dan non polar  dalam mengidentifikasi metabolit sekunder pada simplisia kulit pisang .Dengan tujuan menjadi landasan bagi penelitian lainnya dalam proses ekstraksi kulit pisang, sehingga akan didapatkan kandungan senyawa aktif dalam jumlah maksimal jika pelarut yang digunakan dapat menarik komponen aktif dengan optimal. Penelitian ini menggunakan empat jenis pelarut yakni etanol, metanol, etanol dicampur aseton, dan n-heksan. Kemudian keefektifan nya dilihat dari kemampuannya dalam mengidentifikasi metabolit sekunder pada simplisia kulit pisang. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan ketiga jenis pelarut yakni, metanol, etanol dan campuran etanol dan aseton dapat mengidentifikasi metabolit sekunder kulit pisang , namun pelarut n-heksan tidak dapat mengidentifikasi metabolit sekunder kulit pisang. Kemudian dari ketiga pelarut tersebut yang mempunyai efektivitas paling besar adalah metanol. Metanol dapat mengidentifikasi empat jenis metabolit sekunder yakni flavonoid, fenolik, tanin dan saponin dengan lebih cepat dan menunjukan perubahan warna yang lebih signifikan. Berdasarkan hasil ini dapat dikatakan bahwa simplisia kulit pisang berpotensi antioksidan karena positif mengandung beberapa metabolit sekunder dan untuk mendapatkan ekstrak yang maksimal dapat digunakan metanol sebagai pelarut untuk proses ekstraks

    The red pakoba (Syzygium sp.) is a plant originating from north sulawesi that is often used by local people as a basic ingridient of medicine. This research was conducted to isolate and identify glycoside compounds contained in the n-butanol fraction of red pakoba fruits (Syzygium sp.). The isolation process was carried out using the maceration method, for the separation and purification of compounds using Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and Gravity Column Chromatography and obtained F2.4 sub-fraction isolates with a sample weight of 4.5 mg. Identification of compound using Proton Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR-1H) and Carbon Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR-13C) tecniques.     Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran Inquiry Cycle 5E berbantuan praktikum terhadap hasil belajar siswa pada materi konsep redoks. Populasi penelitian yaitu seluruh siswa kelas X MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Tomohon, dan sampel pada penelitian ini yaitu X MIPA 1 sebagai kelas kontrol dan X MIPA 2 sebagai kelas eksperimen. Desain yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Pengujian normalitas menggunakan uji chi kuadrat, menunjukkan data kedua kelas berdistribusi normal, dan pengujian homogenitas menggunakan uji kesamaan varian, menunjukkan varian kedua kelas homogen. Pengujian hipotesis dengan uji-t pooled varian diperoleh thitung = 4.07 > ttabel = 2.00, maka H1 diterima yaitu nilai rata-rata hasil belajar kelas eksperimen lebih besar dari nilai rata-rata hasil belajar kelas kontrol. Dari hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh pada hasil belajar siswa karena penerapan model pembelajaran Inquiry Cycle 5E berbantuan praktikum pada materi konsep redok

The research is a experimental class XI MIA with one class experimental and one class control each class consisting of 30 students. Data the results a average  86,40 for experimental average 53,50 for class control. This matter average class experimental higher then class control.Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui  rata-rata hasil belajar peserta didik dengan media video animasi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen pada kelas XI MIA dengan satu kelas eksperimen dan satu kelas  kontrol masing-masing kelas terdiri dari 30 peserta didik.. Data hasil penelitian ini yaitu rata-rata untuk kelas eksperimen 86,40  dan rata-rata untuk kelas kontrol 53,50.     The purpose of this study was to determine the level of understanding of concept maps of semester II chemistry students using a three-tier diagnostic test on electrochemical subjects with multimedia-based learning. The research was carried out in the Department of Chemistry, FMIPA, UNIMA in the even semester of the 2018/2019 school year. The research method used is One-shot Case, with a sample of the research that is a class of chemistry classes for a certain year as many as 12 people. Multimedia instruments are made by utilizing animation and video from the internet which is packaged in Ms. Power point, and the electrochemical three-tier diagnostic test instrument is made according to the subject being taught. Then the test instrument was validated and 15 questions were produced. It was found the map data on the level of understanding of electrochemical concepts namely the average number of students who understood the concept by 41.6%, the average number of students experiencing misconceptions both misconceptions (+), misconceptions (-) and misconceptions by 30.033%, average number students do not understand the concept as much as 11.1%, there are 8.3% students who are not sure of the concept they have, and 8.3% there are students who do not understand the concept of electrochemistry. Thus, it was concluded that a three-tier electrochemical diagnostic test was able to reveal a map of students' level of understanding of the chosen topicTujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peta tingkat pemahaman konsep mahasiswa kimia semester II menggunakan three-tier diagnostic test terhadap pokok bahasan elektokimia dengan pembelajaran berbasis multimedia. Pelaksanaan penelitian bertempat di Jurusan Kimia, FMIPA, UNIMA pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2018/2019. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah One-sho Case, dengan sampel penelitian yaitu kelas ilmu kimia angkatan tahun tertentu sebanyak 12 orang. Instrumen multimedia dibuat dengan memanfaatkan animasi dan video dari internet yang dikemas dalam Ms Power point, dan intrumen tes three-tier diagnostic elektrokimia dibuat sesuai pokok bahasan yang diajarkan. Kemudian instrumen tes divalidasi dan dihasilkan 15 butir soal. Ditemukan data peta tingkat pemahaman konsep elektrokimia yakni jumlah rata-rata mahasiswa yang paham konsep sebesar 41,6%, jumlah rata-rata mahasiswa yang mengalami miskonsepsi baik miskonsepsi (+), miskonsepsi (-) maupun miskonsepsi sebesar 30,033%, jumlah rata-rata mahasiswa kurang paham konsep sebanyak 11,1%, terdapat 8,3% mahasiswa yang kurang yakin dengan konsep yang dimilikinya, dan 8,3% terdapat mahasiswa yang tidak paham konsep elektrokimia. Dengan demikian, disimpulkan bahwa three-tier diagnostic test elektrokimia mampu mengungkap peta tingkat pemahaman mahasiswa tentang topik yang dipilih
