Creating a Shared Vision by Using Future Thinking as a Start Toward an Optimal Organizational Climate for Creativity in a Healthcare Organization
I researched shared vision to create a shared vision of creativity for my healthcare organization, ignite passion, and get people on board with creativity as a future core competency. To enhance my literature search, I utilized AI, a cutting-edge tool in research. This led me to develop a detailed plan for the Create a Shared Vision on Creativity workshop, outline my model for Creativity dancing around healthcare organizations, and describe my design journey. The workshop, to be implemented in the fall of 2024, focuses on creating a shared vision for my organization as a starting point for implementing creativity as our future core competency. Episodic Future Thinking is interwoven into the workshop, and the process of using Session Lab, Canva, Google Scholar, ChatGPT, and Elicit, as well as networking with creativity experts, is described. The workshop is designed using a creativity mindset, skills, and tools, and the workshop\u27s outcome is a shared vision of our department chiefs of creativity as our core competency in 2034. This shared vision will be the start of an implementation strategy to achieve this shared vision in 2034
Breaking the Cycle of Disengagement Through Collaborative Re-engagement Strategies
As an educator, I have personally witnessed the detrimental impacts of students disengagement manifested through disruptive behaviors, poor grades, a disconnection from class and student dropout. This study investigates the factors that contribute to disengagement in art education, aiming to unearth effective long-term re-engagement strategies.
Amidst my school’s recent transition to a Title 1 institution and personal reflections, I have observed a shift in student engagement and participation. It is undeniable that within my diverse population of students, many of them are at risk academic failure that could lead to withdrawal. In response to this reality, I sought to empower students by making them active participants pants in their learning journey.
I chose to investigate this topic in my introductory level studio in art classes due to the wide variety of student interest in the course and because I am fortunate enough to see them daily. Using a participatory action research based approach, I called upon students to share their ideas during focus group interviews.
Ultimately, this collaborative approach yielded co-developed re-engagement strategies that have the potential to be studied further and insight into what factors interfere with student disengagement. Additionally, it highlighted the importance of creating a platform for students to share their ideas related to their education as it was a fruitful experience
The Conservation Treatment and Technical Study of Two Marisol Sculptures
ABCDEFG & Hi (1961-62) and Father Damien (1966-67) are both painted wooden sculptures created by Marisol during the height of her fame. Although Marisol is a well-known artist, whose fame has been rekindling since her death in 2016, there have been few technical studies of her works. Multimodal imaging and scientific analysis of these two sculptures provide insight into their structure and materials. Techniques include x-ray radiography, reflectance transformation imaging, x-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and pyrolysis-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Key findings include the identification of toolmarks, nitrocellulose, alkyd, and acrylic paints, and a genuine diamond and pearl in ABCDEFG & Hi.
In addition to technical study, the sculptures required conservation treatment. The main condition concerns in common were the loss of original elements, crucial to the reading of the works: Father Damien’s hand and ABCDEFG & Hi’s original umbrella were both missing. The hand required replication and the umbrella needed replacement with a fitting substitution. Working with the Buffalo AKG Art Museum, this meaningful research and treatment was prompted by a traveling retrospective of Marisol’s work from October 2023-July 2025
