    CAR-FINDING SYSTEM WITH COUCHDB-BASED SENSOR MANAGEMENT PLATFORM

    Growing performance of low-cost mobile devices makes it possible to perform advancedprocessing on mobile sensors. This creates a need of building management system for groupsof sensors actively analyzing signals from hardware devices. In this paper an architectureof a CouchDB-Based Sensor Management Platform is presented and its application for theproblem of finding stolen cars is shown. Detailed performance tests of the platform and itsapplication are provided

    OPTIMIZATION OF FREQUENCY FILTERING IN RANDOM ACCESS JPEG LIBRARY

    In the paper we present a method of direct access to single blocks of JPEG files whichcontain textures, with on-the-fly decompression. Anisotropic, adaptive filtering is applied inorder to minimize visual defects appearing mainly on blocks borders. Main purpose of themethod is to enable fast extraction of only these parts of an entire image which are currentlyneeded and not to keep whole decompressed texture in the main memory. This approachenables effective usage of high quality textures with low memory consumption. It’s benefitsare mainly demonstrated in rendering complex 3D scenes using nondeterministic ray-tracingalgorithm. The algorithms have been encapsulated into DLL and static library

    INTEROPERABILITY OF MONITORING-RELATED TOOLS

    Networking, distributed and grid computing have become the commonly used paradigms ofprogramming. Due to the complicated nature of distributed and grid systems and the increasing complexity of the applications designed for these architectures, the development processneeds to be supported by different kinds of tools at every stage of a development process. Inorder to avoid improper influences of one tool to another these tools must cooperate. Thecooperation ability is called interoperability. Tools can interoperate on different levels, fromexchanging the data in common format, to a semantical level by executing some action asa result of an event in another tool. In this paper we present some interoperability models,with focus on their advantages and major problems due to their use. We also present aninteroperability model designed and used in the JINEXT extension to OMIS specification,intended to provide interoperability for OMIS-compliant tools

    DATA STORAGE MANAGEMENT USING AI METHODS

    Data management and monitoring is an important issue in scientific computa-tion. Scientists want to access their data as quickly as possible. Some experi-ments need to store a lot of data which have to be secure. By saying this wemean that this data can not disappear or be damaged also the data storageshould be as cheap as possible. In this paper we present an approach to theautomation of monitoring and management of data storage. We introduce aknowledge based system which is able to manage data, i.e., make decisions onmigrating data, replicating or removing it. We discuss some of the existingsolutions which are popular on the market. In this paper we aim to present oursystem which uses such AI techniques like fuzzy logic or a rule-based expertsystem to deal with data storage management. We exploit in this system acost model to analyze the proposed solutions. The operations performed byour system are aimed to optimize the usage of the monitored infrastructure

    Applying the classical chi-square fitting procedure for multiparameter systems is in somecases extremely difficult due to the lack of an analytical expression for the theoretical functionsdescribing the system. This paper presents an analysis procedure for experimental datausing theoretical functions generated by Monte Carlo method, each corresponding to definitevalues of the minimization parameters. It was applied for the E742 experiment (TRIUMF,Vancouver, Canada) data analysis with the aim to analyze data from Muon Catalyzed Fusionexperiments (extraction muonic atom scattering parameters and parameters of pd fusion inpdμ molecule)

    AUTOMATED CODE GENERATION FOR SAFETY-RELATED APPLICATIONS: A CASE STUDY

    This paper addresses issues relating to the suitability of using automated code generation(ACG) technologies for the development of real-time, safety-critical systems. This researchexplored the characteristics of model-based software development methodologies and the automatedcode generation tools that support them. Specifically, data related to the engineeringchallenges, skills, and effort associated with ACG practices and technologies were collectedas part of a case study. Characteristics such as the generated code’s organization, size, readability,traceability to model, real-time constructs, and exception handling were identified. Inaddition, the case study involved software engineering practices that incorporate integratedanalysis and design iterations throughout a model-based development process. The researchinvestigated both the static and dynamic characteristics of the selected techniques and tools,identified characteristics of ACG tools with potential impact on safety, and considered thesemantic consistency between representations

    An increasing number of electronic devices in our environment is equipped with radio interfaces used for exposing and using their functionality by other devices and applications. Wireless communication in this class of devices is exposed to a number of situations that may occur including limited energy resources, equipment failures, nodes mobility and loss of communication between nodes. It causes that commonly used standards and protocols for sharing services are not practical and do not take into account the occurrence of these problems.
