Virginia Woolf’s Androgynous Feminist Tendency in Orlando: A Biography
Get PDFVirginia Woolf is one of the great stream-of-consciousness novelists of the 20th century and a pioneer of feminism. The core of her feminist ideology, androgyny, is best reflected in Orlando: A Biography, in which the author strongly criticizes the oppression of women in a patriarchal society, but at the same time opposes extreme gender antagonism. Woolf believes that there are two parts in every person’s mind, male and female, and that only when the two parts are integrated can the ideal state be achieved. This is also true for literature, as only writers with androgynous characteristics can produce the greatest works.

Literature Review of the English Translation of Red Poppies
Get PDFRed Poppies is the first full-length novel of A Lai, a Tibetan writer. With its unique narrative perspective and rich Tibetan culture, it gets the Fifth Mao Dun Literature Award and is selected as one of the 70 classic novels collected during the 70 years of New China, winning numerous accolades. The English translation of Red Poppies, translated by the famous translator Howard Goldblatt and his wife Sylvia Li-chun Lin, has attracted widespread attention since its publication and is named a bestseller of the year by the Los Angeles Times. However, through the investigation, it is found that there is still a lack of research on the translation of this novel. According to the statistics of CNKI, from 2002 to the present, there are only 43 translation studies on the text of Red Poppies, and the research perspectives are also limited, such as focusing on Skopostheorie, literary stylistics, rewriting theory and narratology, etc. Thus, it can be seen that there is still a lot of room for further studies on the translation of this novel. The purpose of this paper is to sort out the research status of the English translation of Red Poppies and try to find room for further research in order to help the Chinese culture go abroad.

Reconciling Institutions With Presidential Skills: A Framework Designed Throw a Metaphor Resource
Get PDFContext factors and institutional aspects have dominated explanations of republic multiparty regimes, especially in developing countries. However, given the various events of high instability and institutional fragility that these countries are going through, theoretical arguments are insufficient to understand the new scenarios. In this article, we make two main arguments. First, the strategies and profile of presidential terms will only be effectively detected with the help of a skill set demonstrated or acquired by presidents. Second, the interpretation of multiparty presidentialism can be better conceived through a systemic theoretical construct. As a method, we propose the application of an integrative framework with the help of the heuristic resource of the metaphor. Using the Brazilian case as support, the inclusion of the presidential skills approach and application of the integrative framework allowed us to connect, illustrate and better understand the dynamic profile of multiparty political systems
Assessment of Motor Performance and Functional Academic Skills of Children With Autism Spectrum Disorder in the United Arab Emirates
Get PDFThe current study aimed to assess the level of motor performance and functional academic skills of children with autism spectrum disorder in the United Arab Emirates. The sample included 103 cases of children with autism spectrum disorder (69 males and 34 females) enrolled in government and private special education centers in the United Arab Emirates. To achieve the aim of the study, the researcher constructed a scales of the motor performance and functional academic skills, and the validity and reliability of them were verified. In order to answer the questions of the study, the descriptive survey methodology was used, and the means, standard deviations, and one-way analysis of variance were used in data processing and reaching results. The results indicated low levels of motor performance and functional academic skills for children with autism spectrum disorder on the scales used by the study. The study recommended the necessity of including motor performance and functional academic skills in treatment programs
