Analysis of the Teaching Problems of The Analects of Confucius in the Teaching of Chinese as a Foreign Language
The Analects of Confucius and its interpretations are important materials for Chinese teaching as a foreign language. The use of The Analects of Confucius in teaching Chinese as a foreign language can help to remove some obstacles in cross-cultural communication, and can better meet the diverse interests and needs of non-native language learners. However, few of those engaged in Chinese teaching and scientific research as a foreign language have devoted to the application of The Analects of Confucius to specific teaching activities. The current researchers are limited to a small number of front-line teachers and postgraduates who have only experienced some internships, and the topics focus on the interpretation of the text of The Analects of Confucius and the teaching of Confucius thought. In the future, we should take the teaching of famous sentences of The Analects of Confucius as the starting point, and use the means of interpreting the new with the old, the development of daily life and academic development to integrate the teaching of famous sentences of The Analects of Confucius into the whole process of Chinese foreign teaching; the teaching of cultural courses should jump out the text of The Analects of Confucius, sets multiple teaching objectives such as knowledge theory, personal cultivation, and practical ability, highlights the modern value of the Analects, pays attention to the comparison of Chinese and foreign cultures, and enhances the effectiveness of teaching.

International Law and International Discourse
International law is not only a system of rules, but also a set of discourse system. In this sense, the international law discourse plays an important role in the daily life as criteria for the assessment of legality and legitimacy on state behavior. Concerned with the concept of discourse, it contains two meanings, which are the right to speak, and the power to speak, which is, the power to influence other countries and people. International law is composed of some concepts, principles, rules and procedures, etc. It is a discourse in itself, a legal discourse and a universal discourse. Therefore, the language of international law is understandable to all, and it is the common discourse of communication in the international community. The discourse of international law can form the user’s unique views and understandings of international law. It is a kind of legal discourse with subjectivity and communication. Discourse is the process and result of language use, which is dynamic and concrete. Discourse has power, and its power comes from the interaction of relations between its communicators. Each process of discourse use will inevitably become a tool to exercise, regenerate or subvert power. The use of discourse dominates the position of the parties in social relations. Discourse patterns also effectively regulate the expression of others, just as the critical linguistics says, “It is not we who speak, but the discourse that speaks”. Discourse power is not eternal, but a dynamic process. In a specific historical period, people who have the right to speak will constantly reaffirm and strengthen their power, while those who have no right to speak or have little right to speak will always try to fight for some power. In the international community, the power of discourse is always won, used, maintained or lost in the process of cooperation and struggle
Re-examination of Comitative Strategies in Igbo
This paper is focused on the strategy for the realization of the comitative in the Igbo language. It is built on the assumption that the morphological marking on nouns to indicate individuals or entities in whose company an event takes place is only one of the several strategies for coding the sense of accompaniment that is traditionally associated with the comitative marker. Other strategies that have been confirmed in the literature include the use of adjectives, verbs, prepositions that mean ‘with’, and conjunctions that mean ‘and’. On the basis of these new insights, the paper examines the two morphemes, the suffix =kọ ‘together (with)’ and the verb sò ‘follow’, whose comitative functions have not been investigated in Igbo language studies. It can be confirmed that both structures are involved in the expression of the comitative in the language. The verb sò expresses the comitative in a serial verb construction where it indicates that NP1 follows/joins/participates in the execution of an act initiated by NP2. This is different from the suffix kọ which assigns equal status to both NP1 and NP2 as either co-subjects or co-objects of the same verb. Finally, this division agrees with Zhang’s (2007) classification of comitatives into symmetrical and asymmetrical groups, whereby the suffix =ko expresses the symmetrical comitative while the verb so expresses the asymmetrical
The BRI reflects China’s Growing Geopolitical and Economic Influence: Case Studies of the CPEC and the China-Europe Railway Express
China’s expanding geopolitical and economic influence in Asia, Europe, South America, and Africa is reflected in the BRI initiative, an international project, the construction of which implies China’s desire to expand its global influence. This paper applies the key concepts of geopolitics or geo-economics, and adopts the case study research method to analyse the effect of BRI in enhancing China’s geo-influence, using CPEC and CERE as the objects of the study. The finding was that the China-led BRI expands China’s international market, increases political and economic cooperation, and thus enhances China’s geo-political and economic influence. This article is more descriptive than analytical
Power, Religion and Morality: An Interpretation of the Dress Culture in Spenser’s FQ Book Ⅰ
Edmund Spenser’s allegorical poetry “The Faerie Queene” mirrors the author’s observations and perspectives of the British life under the religious conflicts in 16th century. In Book Ⅰ, Spenser intentionally endows the clothes and adornments of different characters with implied connotations, via which the political culture and religious background of the Elizabethan Age are presented to the readers. And the symbolic metaphors of the dresses make public the author’s stand as Queen Elizabeth Ⅰ’s political supporter, declare his religious position as a protestant poet, and express the viewpoint of the British upper-class towards personal moral cultivation under the Renaissance humanistic trend.
The Study of C-E Translation of A Public Example From the Perspective of House’s Newly Revised Translation Quality Assessment Model
From the perspective of Julian House’s newly revised translation quality assessment model, the translation of A Public Example by Yang Xianyi and Gladys Yang is assessed and analyzed from register (field, mode, tenor), genre, and function, and then the C-E translation quality will be evaluated. The newly revised TQA model adopts corpus study, so Antconc, Wordsmith Tools, and UAM corpus software are used in this paper, and a combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis is adopted to make the analysis process more objective. After analysis, it can be found that the source text and the target text have a high degree of matches in terms of register (field, mode, tenor), genre, and function, and the target text belongs to the overt translation. As a result, the translation quality of A Public Example by Yang Xianyi and Gladys Yang is high.
Truth of Chinese Survivors Concealed and Rediscovered From Titanic to The Six
Conventional film Titanic fooled the Chinese audience with an untold story of Chinese survivors through following narrative features of transitivity, identification, transparency, single diegesis, closure, and pleasure. Based on its skillfully designed narration strategy, the noble image of Anglo-Saxon gentlemen was well constructed. However, documentary film The Six pieced together the fragmented records of various sources and revealed the truth of what happened to those Chinese survivors through six corresponding narrative features by Peter Wollen, namely intransitivity, estrangement, foregrounding, multiple diegesis, aperture, and unpleasure. The unfair treatment Chinese survivors received added misfortunes to their sufferings in a huge tragic disaster in a foreign land. The images and characters of Chinese survivors reconstructed in The Six clear up what has been twisted and optionally forgotten.
