    THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN COMPUTER SCIENCE STUDENTS’ LEARNING EXPERIENCE AND SILENCE IN WAG-BASED ENGLISH CLASSROOMS

    Learning experience is often considered central to engagement in second language learning, particularly in digital contexts where silence emerges as a phenomenon. Thus, this study investigated the extent to which learning experience influences silence in WAG-based English classrooms and whether demographic factors contribute to this relationship. A quantitative correlational design was employed with 112 Computer Science students from Universitas Indraprasta PGRI, Jakarta. Data were collected using adapted questionnaires on learning experience and silence, and analyzed through Spearman’s correlation, simple linear regression, and hierarchical regression. The results showed no significant correlation between learning experience and silence (ρ = 0.00, p = 0.97) and learning experience did not predict silent behavior (B = 0.06, β = 0.05, p = 0.61, R² = 0.00). However, demographic analysis revealed that age significantly influenced silence (β = 0.26, p = .04), with older students reporting higher levels, while gender and class type had no effect. These results indicate that silence in WAG-based classrooms is shaped more by social and psychological dynamics than by experiential background. The study contributes to theory by refining perspectives on experiential learning and social presence, while also offering practical implications for age-sensitive strategies to enhance inclusive engagement in digital English classrooms.

    Picture story books are able to attract attention because their appearance is very much liked by children, reading picture stories stimulates children\u27s imagination and curiosity about an event. This study aims to determine the learning process and results of students\u27 reading activities using picture story books in improving the early reading skills of grade II students at SDN 1 Sedeng. This study uses a qualitative research type, with a descriptive method. The subjects of the study included the homeroom teacher for grade II and 7 grade II students at SDN 1 Sedeng. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, tests, and documentation. The results of this study in the use of picture story books in grade II of SDN 1 Sedeng effectively improved students\u27 reading skills, especially for those who were slow readers. Interesting illustrations and simple texts make students more enthusiastic and easy to understand the contents of the story. Although there are obstacles such as excessive focus on pictures and difficulty reading long words, this media still helps increase students\u27 interest, understanding, and participation in learning.Buku cerita bergambar mampu menarik perhatian karena penampilannya sangat disukai anak-anak, bacaan cerita bergambar merangsang imajinasi dan rasa ingin tahu anak terhadap suatu kejadian. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses pembelajaran dan hasil aktivitas membaca siswa dengan menggunakan media buku cerita bergambar dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif, dengan metode deskriptif. Subjek penelitian meliputi wali kelas II dan tujuh siswa kelas II di SDN 1 Sedeng. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, tes, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan buku cerita bergambar di kelas II SDN 1 Sedeng efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca siswa, terutama bagi yang lamban membaca. Ilustrasi menarik dan teks sederhana membuat siswa lebih semangat dan mudah memahami isi cerita. Meskipun terdapat kendala seperti fokus berlebih pada gambar dan kesulitan membaca kata panjang, media ini tetap membantu meningkatkan minat, pemahaman, dan partisipasi siswa dalam pembelajaran

    Interview learning in elementary schools requires interpersonal communication skills supported by students’ courage and self-confidence. However, instructional practices still tend to limit students’ opportunities to engage in authentic communication. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Role-Play method in stimulating the interpersonal communication confidence of fourth-grade students in Indonesian language interview learning. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach conducted at SDN 1 Way Mili during the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers and students, and documentation, and were analyzed qualitatively. The findings indicate that the Role-Play method enhances students’ confidence in expressing opinions, asking questions, maintaining eye contact, speaking more clearly, and responding to interlocutors. It can be concluded that Role Play is effective in creating communicative and contextual interview learning while supporting the development of elementary school students’ interpersonal communication confidence.Pembelajaran wawancara di sekolah dasar menuntut keterampilan komunikasi interpersonal yang didukung oleh keberanian dan kepercayaan diri siswa. Namun, praktik pembelajaran masih cenderung membatasi kesempatan siswa untuk berkomunikasi secara nyata. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan implementasi metode Role Play dalam menstimulasi keberanian berkomunikasi interpersonal siswa kelas IV pada pembelajaran wawancara Bahasa Indonesia. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif yang dilaksanakan di SDN 1 Way Mili pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2024/2025. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara dengan guru dan siswa, serta dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis secara kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode Role Play mampu meningkatkan keberanian siswa dalam menyampaikan pendapat, bertanya, menjaga kontak mata, berbicara dengan lebih jelas, serta merespons lawan bicara. Disimpulkan bahwa Role Play efektif menciptakan pembelajaran wawancara yang komunikatif, kontekstual, dan mendukung pengembangan keberanian berkomunikasi interpersonal siswa sekolah dasar

    A STUDY OF LEXICAL FUNCTIONS IN TED TALKS ON THE YOUTUBE PLATFORM FOR FOREIGN ENGLISH LEARNERS

    This research discussed the use of lexical function in TED Talks content to the foreign English learner. English skill was affected by internal and external factors, one of which is the YouTube platform. This platform shows the use of words and phrases in our daily life. This research aims to explore lexical functions in the context of social media, particularly YouTube, and how this can be used to support foreign language learning. This study examined the lexical function in TED Talks works and how the learner responds to it.  This study used a qualitative method with content analysis. Data were analyzed by reading transcripts of video, identifying lexical functions used in conversation, and drawing conclusions. The result showed that TED Talks is able to be a good link to learn English by watching and reading through the YouTube platform that can become one of the most valuable tools in their journey to mastering English

    Suku Tengger yang bermukim di kawasan Bromo Tengger Semeru dikenal memiliki kosmologi yang sarat nilai kearifan lokal. Gunung Bromo bukan hanya lanskap geografis, melainkan pusat spiritual yang menuntun kehidupan sosial, religius, dan budaya. Namun, modernisasi, globalisasi, dan pariwisata menghadirkan tantangan serius bagi keberlanjutan kosmologis tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji kearifan lokal masyarakat Tengger dalam kosmologi Gunung Bromo, menelaah tradisi dan makna simbolik yang terkandung di dalamnya, serta menganalisis relevansinya di tengah modernisasi. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kepustakaan. Data bersumber dari literatur primer seperti kajian sosial ekonomi, ritual adat, dan etnofarmasi, serta literatur sekunder berupa artikel ilmiah dan laporan penelitian. Analisis dilakukan dengan teknik analisis tematik untuk menemukan pola kosmologi, simbol budaya, dan tantangan modernisasi. Penelitian menemukan bahwa kosmologi Tengger tercermin dalam ritual Kasada, Karo, Unan-Unan, tata ruang arsitektur pekarangan, praktik etnofarmasi, serta simbol budaya seperti sarung dan mantra. Kosmologi ini membentuk harmoni antara manusia, alam, dan Tuhan. Di sisi lain, globalisasi dan pariwisata mendorong pergeseran makna tradisi menjadi komoditas wisata, khususnya di kalangan generasi muda. Meski demikian, modal sosial, toleransi antaragama, serta inovasi pendidikan berbasis multikultural membantu menjaga relevansi kosmologi Tengger di era digital. Integrasi kosmologi Tengger dalam pendidikan, pariwisata berbasis budaya, dan kebijakan pelestarian dapat menjadi strategi memperkuat identitas nasional serta membangun kesadaran ekologis. Kosmologi Gunung Bromo bagi Suku Tengger adalah fondasi kearifan lokal yang tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai warisan budaya, tetapi juga pedoman etika hidup yang relevan dalam menghadapi krisis ekologi, intoleransi, dan disrupsi budaya global

    Media sosial telah menjadi fenomena global yang berpengaruh signifikan terhadap dinamika kehidupan sosial dan budaya masyarakat. Kehadirannya tidak hanya mengubah pola komunikasi dan interaksi sosial, tetapi juga memengaruhi nilai, norma, dan praktik budaya yang berkembang di tengah masyarakat. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dinamika perubahan budaya masyarakat akibat penggunaan media sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode historis, yaitu menelusuri perkembangan media sosial serta perubahan budaya masyarakat secara kronologis melalui kajian literatur dan dokumen ilmiah yang relevan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa media sosial berperan sebagai agen perubahan budaya yang mempercepat pertukaran informasi dan budaya, mendorong terbentuknya budaya populer, serta memengaruhi konstruksi identitas sosial, terutama pada generasi muda. Di sisi lain, media sosial juga menimbulkan tantangan berupa pergeseran nilai-nilai budaya lokal dan melemahnya interaksi sosial secara langsung. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan sikap kritis dan literasi digital berbasis kearifan lokal agar dinamika perubahan budaya yang terjadi dapat dikelola secara positif tanpa menghilangkan identitas budaya masyarakat

    ANALISIS KOLABORASI ANAK BERKEBUTUHAN KHUSUS (ABK) MELALUI KEGIATAN OUTBOUND PRAMUKA DI SDN 2 SIRNOBOYO

    Collaboration with children with special needs is the ability to work together in social activities. This ability can be developed through active involvement in activities such as scout outbound. This study aims to explore information related to the implementation of scouting activities designed to train children with special needs collaboration through scout outbound activities. This research also aims to find out the indicators that children with disabilities have in participating in scout outbound activities. This research is descriptive qualitative research with a case study approach. The subjects consisted of three children with disabilities who were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the data analysis concluded that, firstly, scout outbound activities are effective in training collaboration between children with disabilities, as well as improving communication, responsibility and courage. Although there were obstacles such as difficulty focusing and waiting for their turn. Secondly, the five aspects of collaboration showed positive results. In general, the children\u27s collaboration skills improved through active participation, supportive interactions and performing tasks according to role. Keywords: Collaboration, children with special needs, scout outbound.Kolaborasi Anak Berkebutuhan Khusus (ABK) merupakan kemampuan untuk bekerja sama dalam kegiatan sosial. Kemampuan ini dapat berkembang melalui keterlibatan aktif dalam kegiatan seperti outbound pramuka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali informasi terkait pelaksanaan kegiatan kepramukaan yang dirancang untuk melatih kolaborasi ABK melalui kegiatan outbound pramuka. Penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk mengetahui indikator yang dimiliki ABK dalam mengikuti kegiatan outbound pramuka. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Subjeknya terdiri dari 3 ABK yang dipilih melalui purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan model Miles and Huberman, yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil analisis data menyimpulkan bahwa, pertama kegiatan outbound pramuka efektif melatih kolaborasi antara ABK, sekaligus meningkatkan komunikasi, tanggung jawab, dan keberanian ABK. Meskipun terdapat hambatan seperti kesulitan fokus dan menunggu giliran. Kedua, Kelima aspek kolaborasi menunjukkan hasil positif. Secara umum, kemampuan kolaborasi ABK meningkat melalui partisipasi aktif, interaksi suportif, dan pelaksanaan tugas sesuai peran

    This study aims to: (1) Describe the efforts made by SDIT Tawakkal in fostering students\u27 self-confidence; and (2) Analyze the impact of efforts to foster self-confidence on student development at SDIT Tawakkal. Self-confidence is an important aspect in children\u27s development that influences their courage to speak, take the initiative, and actively participate in academic and non-academic activities. Therefore, understanding the school\u27s strategy in building students\u27 self-confidence is the main focus of this study. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The subjects of the study included the principal, teachers and students at SDIT Tawakkal. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study showed that SDIT Tawakkal implemented various strategies in fostering students\u27 self-confidence, such as through religious programs, experience-based learning, and various extracurricular activities, market days, cooking classes, academic and non-academic activities. These efforts have a positive impact on increasing students\u27 courage to speak, take the initiative, and actively participate in academic and non-academic activities. In addition, support from teachers and the school plays a very important role in strengthening students\u27 self-confidence.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) Mendeskripsikan upaya yang dilakukan oleh SDIT Tawakkal dalam menumbuhkan rasa percaya diri siswa; dan (2) Menganalisis dampak dari upaya penumbuhan rasa percaya diri terhadap perkembangan siswa di SDIT Tawakkal. Kepercayaan diri merupakan aspek penting dalam perkembangan anak yang berpengaruh pada keberanian mereka dalam berbicara, mengambil inisiatif, serta berpartisipasi aktif dalam kegiatan akademik maupun non-akademik. Oleh karena itu, memahami strategi sekolah dalam membangun kepercayaan diri siswa menjadi fokus utama penelitian ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Subjek penelitian meliputi kepala sekolah, guru dan siswa di SDIT Tawakkal. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa SDIT Tawakkal menerapkan berbagai strategi dalam menumbuhkan rasa percaya diri siswa, seperti melalui program keagamaan, pembelajaran berbasis pengalaman, serta berbagai kegiatan ekstrakurikuler, market day, cooking class, kegiatan akademik maupun non akademik. Upaya tersebut memberikan dampak positif dalam meningkatkan keberanian siswa dalam berbicara, mengambil inisiatif, serta partisipasi aktif dalam kegiatan akademik maupun non-akademik.     Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguraikan tentang Reduplikaisa atau proses pengulangan kata dalam system morfologi Bahasa Indonesia. Reduplikasi adalah proses morfologis kata melibatkan perubahan bentuk, fungsi, dan makna. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif  dengan Teknik studi Pustaka yaitu menelaah buku, catatan,dan referensi yang relevan dengan masalah penelitian. Data dianalisis berdasarkan  teori morfologi structural untuk mengklasifikasikan jenis-jenis reduplikasi, fungsi, dna penerapannya. Hasil penelitian  menunjukna fungsi reduplikasi dalam Bahasa Indonesia yang tidak hanya menunjukan makna jamak tetapi juga berfungsi membentuk makna dan perubahan kata. Penerapannya dalam komunikasi sehari-hari menunjukan kesesuaian Bahasa Indonesia dalam memperkaya kosakata.     What Do Mining Students Really Need? An ESP Needs Analysis for English for Mining Courses

    English for Specific Purposes (ESP) has been widely recognized as an effective approach to address learners\u27 specific academic and professional needs. In mining education, English is necessary not only for academic purposes but also for safety procedures, technical documentation, and communication in the workplace. However, English for Mining courses in higher education often rely on general English materials that do not fully reflect students\u27 real needs. This makes it hard to understand what students really need. Using a descriptive quantitative design, data from 45 undergraduate mining students were collected via an ESP needs analysis questionnaire. Students\u27 target needs and learning needs, including necessary language proficiency, preferred learning activities, and types of learning materials, were examined in the questionnaire. The results showed that speaking and reading abilities are thought to be the most important for future work environments, especially when it comes to comprehending technical reports, safety guidelines, and oral communication in mining operations. Students also indicated a high preference for hands-on, task-based learning experiences that were connected to actual mining environments. The study comes to the conclusion that authentic materials and workplace-oriented communication challenges should be prioritized in English for Mining courses. The results have useful ramifications for the creation of ESP curricula in mining education
