MODE OF DRYING THE NANOPARTICLES AND IT’S STABILITY OF THE FERROFLUIDS
Bare and oleic acid capped magnetite nanoparticles were obtained by coprecipitation method. Ferrofluids were prepared by dispersing bare and oleic acid capped magnetite (dried at room temperature and 80 oC) nanoparticles in H2O and ethylene glycol (EG). Ferrofluids prepared by non-polar solvent i.e. ethylene glycol is found to be more stable than the one prepared by a polar solvent. Among the ferrofluids prepared in EG, the oleic acid capped nanoparticles dried at 80 oC settles in less interval of time. The interaction of the nanoparticles resulting to agglomeration is discussed in details
Perceptual Analysis of Induction Processes in Major Indian IT Firms
This study is a comparative analysis of induction practices in nine major Indian IT firms. The study also attempts to identify the perceptual factors of the induction practices in the IT industry using factor analysis and TOPSIS analysis. Â The results of the study suggest that IT companies should focus on improving the infrastructure and quality of the speakers to improve the satisfaction of inductees towards the induction process. Further, there are significant differences in satisfaction of the induction processes in different IT companies, with inductees at Wipro having the highest overall level of satisfaction with the induction process, followed by Infosys, IBM, and TCS, and inductees at Oracle having the lowest overall satisfaction with the induction process
A Review on Different Control Techniques used for Pitch Control of Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine
In wind turbine technology, the pitch control mechanism of blades is a very important factor for the efficient power output of a wind turbine. Various control techniques can be implemented for pitch control. This paper deals with the study and review of different control methodologies used by the researchers and engineers to control the pitch angle of the blades of a horizontal axis wind turbine to optimize the power in low rated wind speed. Grid Connected Renewable Energy Sources and Net Metering: A Review
In this paper, the constraints of a grid connection are presented along with some of the solutions to the problems as proposed by various researchers. Non-renewable energy sources are getting exhausted day by day. There is a need for alternative sources of energy. In this paper, various constraints in the incorporation of grid-connected renewable energy sources and the required solution are discussed. Land Use and Land Cover Mapping for Catchment Area Afforestation A case study of East Khasi Hills District
The aim of this study is to produce a land use and land cover map for accessing the catchment area for afforestation purposes using remote sensing data and geographic information system. In this study, land use land cover in East Khasi Hills District was carried out to map the forest cover, other land use land cover classes and potential afforestation sites. IRS LISS IV data and Google Earth high resolution images have been used and visual image analysis technique has been employed to do the land use land cover mapping. The study area covers 2813.05 sq. km and consists of mosaic of land use and land cover features. These are classified into eight categories: settlements, water bodies, agricultural land, barren land, grassland, culturable waste land or scrub land, open forest, dense forest. Therefore culturable barren land has been identified as the potential area for afforestation in the catchments. It has been assessed that area under culturable barren land which may be potential afforestation sites is 124.93 sq km which is 4.44% of the total geographical area of the district
Development of a Fiber Optic Sensor for Online Monitoring of Thin Coatings
 The thickness measurement of gas, liquid and solid layers is not only important for the basic research on nanoscience but equally valuable in contemporary applied biomedical research. Here, we have developed an optical spectroscopy based technique for the online monitoring of thin films (coatings). A low cost light emitting diode (LED) source combined with a fiber optic bundle and grating based spectrograph have been used to generate white light interferogram. We have monitored online change of refractive index of an air film (~4 μm thickness) with temperature following the change in the intensity profile of the interferogram. A thin film of water between two cover slips (thin glass plates) has also been monitored. We have proposed a schematic for further lowering the cost of the developed instrument for the online monitoring of the coating thickness (semitransparent liquid/gas/solid films) during manufacturing/processing. A brief theoretical analysis on the detection limit of the developed technique has also been discussed in the paper
Automatic RADAR Target Recognition System at THz Frequency Band. A Review
The development of technology for communication in the THz frequency band has seen rapid progress recently. Due to the wider bandwidth a THz frequency RADAR provides the possibility of higher precision imaging compared to conventional RADARs. A high resolution RADAR operating at THz frequency can be used for automatically detecting and segmenting concealed objects. Recent advancements in THz circuit integration have opened up a wide range of possibilities for on chip applications, like of security and surveillance. The development of various sources and detectors for generation and detection of THz frequency has been driven by other techniques such as spectroscopy, imaging and impulse ranging. One of the central vision of this type of security system aims at ambient intelligence: the computation and communication carried out intelligently. The need for higher mobility with limited size and power consumption has led to development of nanotechnology based THz generators. In addition to this some of the soft computing tools are used for detection of radar target automatically based on some algorithms named as ANN, RNN, Neuro-Fuzzy and Genetic algorithms. The Angami Naga Society: Continuity and Change
Human society has never remained static. It is constantly changing; but the ideas, values, traditional practices are enduring. Using the observation and interview as methodological tools, the present article is an attempt to understand this interface among the Angami Naga Society particularly focusing on their social organisations and their women. It examines the traditional practices and culture of the Angami society to see whether there have been any changes in their traditional practices. It also explains the rationale behind the change and continuity among the Angami society. Changes are observed in their social organisation, status and position of women. Nevertheless, it is also observed that the direction of social change is linear in the sense the traditional values and culture is still continuing especially for women.
