SOFT TISSUE IMAGING WITH THE INVISIBLE RAYS: THE PHYSICS AND APPLICATION OF MAMMOGRAPHY IN THE EARLY DETECTION AND THE TREATMENT OF CANCER-A REVIEW

    Get PDF
The main objective of this study is to explain the well established theory of mammography in a very crisp manner. Mammography is a method for capturing images of the breast using characteristic x-rays. Compared to conventional radiography, here the prerequisites are somewhat unique and distinct. The breast imaging technology was further improved with a focus on minimizing radiation exposure while maintaining the highest level of diagnostic image quality. In this study, x-ray tube, target materials, image receptors, compression device, scattered radiation and filtration are discussed in the simplest possible manner in relation to the imaging requirements for mammography. Regarding the use of ionizing radiation for breast imaging, there are two schools of thought. Mammography was seen as both a benefit in case of early detection of cancer and a risk as it went through its early stages of development. In order to understand its advantages and disadvantages and to establish its ideal function, numerous studies were conducted. According to various reports, breast imaging raises the risk of breast cancer in asymptomatic women under the age of fifty. Another group of researchers contends that mammography has significant advantages and thus contributes to the welfare of the patients. This review study tries to illuminate the benefits of mammography in the detection of carcinoma, pre-carcinoma conditions like masses, clusters of micro-calcifications, distortion of structure in breast tissue. Mammography contributes in a significant way in the treatment of breast cancer using ionizing radiation. The abstract should appear like this. The abstract should appear like this. Advancing Communication: A CNN-Powered Framework for Assamese Sign Language Recognition

    Get PDF
This paper introduces an advanced method for recognizing Assamese Sign Language (ASL) using deep learning, specifically Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). The proposed framework encompasses three primary phases: data preparation, model development, and real-time gesture recognition. A dataset of 10 static gestures representing distinct Assamese alphabets was created, utilizing OpenCV for frame capture and MediaPipe for hand landmark detection. The collected data underwent preprocessing, and the hand gesture images were further split into training and testing sets. A CNN model was then trained for gesture classification, yielding a perfect accuracy score of 100%, along with exceptional precision, recall, and F1 scores across all 10 categories. The findings demonstrate the CNN model's proficiency in extracting and learning key features of ASL gestures, enabling the system to accurately recognize and convert the signs into text in real-time. This real-time recognition ability holds significant potential for enhancing communication between the deaf and hearing communities in Assam. Future work will focus on expanding the dataset to incorporate dynamic gestures and optimizing the system for real-time deployment in mobile applications

Case Study: Implementing Strength Based Performance Appraisal System in EnergizeX

    Get PDF
This case study explores EnergizeX's groundbreaking shift from a conventional performance appraisal system to a leading-edge, strength-based performance management system. Realizing the drawbacks of traditional approaches—such as their emphasis on weaknesses, absence of employee involvement, and ineffectiveness in creating significant development— EnergizeX set out on a revolutionary process to redefine the way it assessed and developed its people. The organization aimed to design a system which valued employees' individual strengths, thereby promoting an environment of empowerment, collaboration, and high performance. The transition towards a strength-based system was precipitated by the increasing body of research in positive psychology and organizational behavior, which emphasize the advantage of concentrating on people's intrinsic talents verses their deficits. EnergizeX's new system required a multi-dimensional implementation plan, such as adopting strength-assessment tools such as Gallup's StrengthsFinder, in-depth training programs for managers, and redesigning performance measures to be in alignment with employees' strengths and organizational goals. The process also focused on ongoing feedback and coaching, rather than the traditional annual reviews, to more active, real-time assessments. The results of this shift were significant. EnergizeX documented quantifiable gains in key performance metrics, such as a dramatic boost in employee engagement scores, increased retention rates, and improved productivity among teams. Employees reported higher job satisfaction and motivation, attributing the new system's emphasis on their strengths as a primary driver of their professional development. Managers also noted a positive change in team dynamics, with enhanced collaboration and a greater sense of purpose among team members. Nonetheless, the journey was not trouble-free. EnergizeX had to overcome early resistance from staff and managers used to conventional methods of appraisal, and logistical challenges in rolling out the new system across its global population. Through leadership commitment, strategic communication, and incremental improvement, the company overcame these challenges, creating a new benchmark for performance management within the professional services sector. This case study presents a thorough examination of EnergizeX's approach, challenges, and results, providing useful lessons for organizations looking to implement a strength-based performance appraisal system. The results highlight the potential for transformation in emphasizing employees' strengths, not just in improving individual and organizational performance but also in developing a workplace culture that respects and develops talent. EnergizeX's case is an excellent demonstration of how cutting-edge performance management best practices can generate enduring success in the modern changing business landscape

Addressing Under-Nourishment in India: Insights from Factor Analysis and Regression Analysis

    No full text
Malnutrition is a situation where an individual intakes insufficient energy and nutrients to meet the requirement of maintaining good health. India, despite its economic growth and advancements in agricultural productivity, continues to face significant challenges in combating malnutrition. Rising inflation, fluctuating food prices, and climate change-induced agricultural instability exacerbate undernourishment, particularly among rural and marginalized communities. This study investigates the determinants of under-nutrition in India using factor analysis and regression modelling. Three key factors were identified: Economic Development and Inequality, Price Dynamics and Consumption Patterns, and Environmental and Institutional Factors. Regression analysis revealed that Price Dynamics and Consumption Patterns significantly exacerbate under-nutrition (B = 0.604, p = 0.014), highlighting the critical role of food prices and inflation in worsening food insecurity. In contrast, Economic Development and Inequality and Environmental and Institutional Factors did not show statistically significant effects. The findings align with economic theories such as the Demand-Supply Theory, Kuznets Curve, and Malthusian Theory, emphasizing the importance of stabilizing food prices, reducing income inequality, and promoting environmental sustainability. Policy implications include implementing price controls, subsidies, and investments in agricultural productivity to mitigate food price volatility, alongside addressing income inequality and strengthening institutional frameworks

Abstract‘Viksit Bharat@2047’ is the prime vision of India. Achieving it India needs to reconsider the entire economic policy landscape for appropriate and adequate regulation of her economy because regulation and guiding towards proper direction is the most important functions of economic policy in a country. Economic policies are operational frameworks and tools of strategies to influence the economy. In India, these policies play distributive, allocative and stabilizing role to regulate the dynamics of Indian economy. Each of the economic policies targets a distinct aspect of the economy to regulate the economy where most of indicators are again interconnected. The policy landscape in the country includes a wide range of monetary and fiscal policies, various developmental policies, unemployment schemes, trade policy, industrial policy, agricultural policy, health policy, social welfare policies, and export-import policies, among others. But compared to these traditional objectives, the role of economic policy has undergone through huge transformation extending its role to capacity building of the economy. Besides, there is necessity of the transition of functional role of economic policy considering the facts of drastic global economic changes including evolution of AI (artificial intelligence), other technological disruption, climate change, and population explosion. These changing contours can be observed in the various Union Budgets of India because budget is often considered as a mirror image of economic policy. Thus the major objective of the study is to analyze the budgetary priorities over the period since independence examining historical data and map the policy objectives through various union budgets to map the major targets understanding the shifting roles of economic policy in India.   Keywords: Viksit Bharat@2047, Economic policy, distributive, allocative and stabilizing role, union budget, India.JEL Classification:    G28, H30, H50, H6

The Routledge Companion to Northeast India

    No full text
The Routledge Companion to Northeast India, edited by Jelle J.P. Wouters and Tanka B. Subba, represents one of the most comprehensive scholarly attempts to systematize knowledge about this complex and underrepresented region. Bringing together 81 contributions from leading specialists, the volume spans themes of ethnicity, indigeneity, ecology, migration, history, and cultural politics. Its emphasis on plurality, relational histories, and cross-border flows challenges reductive framings of the Northeast as either a frontier or a site of permanent conflict. While encyclopedic breadth makes it an invaluable reference for scholars, students, and policymakers, the uneven depth across entries occasionally limits critical engagement. Nevertheless, the Companion significantly advances Northeast India studies by situating the region within transnational debates on identity, mobility, and sovereignty. It is indispensable for future research and pedagogy on borderlands, diversity, and democracy in South Asia and beyond. Keywords: Northeast India, Ethnicity, Indigeneity, Ecology, Mobility, Sovereignty

This study carried out a spatial analysis of resource mobilisation and utilisation for the implementation of the universal basic education programme in Kwara State, Nigeria. To achieve this main objective, the study employed a cross sectional survey research design that was descriptive and exploratory. A sample of 800 respondents consisting of 100 Universal Basic Education Board officials, 200 head teachers and their assistants and 500 teachers were selected through multi-stage sampling technique. Questionnaire entitled “Resource Mobilization and Utilization Questionnaire” (RMUQ) was used to collect data. Data collected were statistically treated with mean, standard deviation and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The main finding of the study revealed that, the extent to which resources (financial, personnel, physical and material) were mobilized for the implementation of UBE programme in Kwara State was low (GM = 2.47), while the extent to which these resources were utilized was moderate (GM =  2.54). Analysis further indicated that there was significant disparity in how resources were mobilized (f-cal = 14.67) and utilized (f-cal = 25.32) based on senatorial districts (Kwara Central, Kwara North and Kwara South) basic schools were located. Therefore, the State Universal Basic Education Board should ensure even distribution of resources among UBE schools across the State by introducing geographical spread in the mobilization of resources, as this will help in reducing the problem of over concentration, underutilization and overutilization of resource in schools located in a particular senatorial district of the State

Background and aims: Diabetes Mellitus (DM), commonly acknowledged as a global epidemic that affects millions of people. DM is a metabolic state that results a rise in blood sugar levels over the time. It occurs when the body does not utilize insulin adequately or when the pancreas organ does not create enough insulin. There are independent risk factors that contribute to the risks of type-2 diabetes (T2D). These include low serum creatinine, fatty liver and hypertension. Numerous methods were proposed till today to detect diabetes. Most of the existing systems are solely based on diagnosing through certain parameters like body mass index, blood sugar level, oral glucose tolerance, HbA1c etc. However, there is also a need for addressing the independent factors that influences the possibility of developing diabetes
