    BEHAVIOUR OF NUCLEAR BASS AND WINTHER POTENTIALS TOWARDS THE FUSION SUB-BARRIER CROSS SECTION OF 16O + 58,62Ni

    Six different versions of nuclear Bass and Winther potentials viz., Bass 77, Bass 80, Ngô 80, CW 76, BW 91 and AW 95, are being applied to see the influence of static quadrupole and hexadecapole deformation of targets and its orientations with collision axis on the fusion cross section. The interaction barrier parameters (barrier height, position and its curvature) for the reactions induced by spherical projectiles, 16O, on the slightly deformed targets, 58,62Ni, have been estimated from the variations of total interaction potential with the inter-nuclear separation; which is then used in Wong’s formula to determine the fusion cross section for the reactions. It is found that the nuclear potential considered here strongly depends on the value of the deformation parameters of the target and its orientation. In this work, the experimental fusion cross-section of the reactions 16O + 58Ni and 16O + 62Ni are investigated with these nuclear potentials. The fusion cross-sections obtained by Bass 80, Ngô 80, BW 91 and CW 76 potentials are found to be in better agreement with the experimental fusion cross-section than that of AW 95 and Bass 77 for the reaction 16O + 58Ni. On the other hand, for the reaction 16O + 62Ni, Bass 77, Bass 80 and BW 91 potentials are found out to be in better agreement than AW 95, CW 76 and Ngô 80 in comparison to experimental data

    BOUNDS ON FINITE EXTRA-DIMENSION FROM THE MASSES OF LIGHT-HEAVY MESONS IN A QCD POTENTIAL MODEL

    Recently, the problem of stability of the H atom has been reported in extra-finite dimension, and found out that it is stable in extra-finite dimension of size Ra04R\leq\frac{a_0}{4} where,a0a_0 is the Bohr radius. Motivated by this, we assume that the light-heavy mesons also have such stability controlled by the scale of coupling constant, and we obtain corresponding QCD Bohr radius, RQCDa0QCD4R_{QCD}\leq\frac{a_0\mid_{QCD}}{4}, where a0=4αs3a_0=\frac{4\alpha_s}{3}, and αs\alpha_s is the strong coupling constant and μ\mu is the reduced mass of mesons, and it is found to be well within the present theoretical and experimental limit of higher dimension. We then, obtain the wave function of light-heavy mesons considering the well known linear plus coulomb, Cornell potential in a space with one finite extra-dimension. Specifically, we consider one finite extra dimension and calculate the masses of few light-heavy mesons. Comparing our results with the well-known experimental data,we obtain the bound on the size of extra-dimension, which is well within the present theoretical and experimental bound

    VARIATIONAL STUDY OF S-SHELL LAMBDA HYPERNUCLEAR SYSTEM

    Theoretical study on hypernuclear systems is important to know the nature of hyperon-nucleon and hyperon-hyperon interaction as only hypernuclear systems give the scope of knowing these interactions. A hypernucleus, in addition to the nucleons contains at least one hyperon which is a strange particle composed of quarks. A hypernucleus is produced mostly in heavy ion collisions and it undergoes weak decay. Experimental detection of hypernuclear events are rare and this makes the study of hypernuclear physics more challenging. Hypernuclear physics has a close association with astrophysics as hyperon-nucleon and hyperon-hyperon interactions are found to play important role in the interiors of neutron stars. The core of neutron stars contains strange quark matter and therefore, study of  hyperon involved potentials are essential for the determination of the composition of neutron star matter. But, there is a scarcity of data from hyperon-nucleon scattering experiments. Also, since it is  impossibe to have hyperon-hyperon scattering experiments, the direct determination of the baryon-baryon interaction strength is extremely difficult. Therefore theoretical models play important role in unfolding the mysteries of hyperon-nucleon and hyperon-hyperon interaction. In this study, binding energies of hypernuclear systems calculated using different two-body lambda-nucleon and three-body  lambda-nucleon-nucleon  interactions  have been analysed. Also effect of lambda-lambda potential on the binding energy of  hypernuclear system have been analysed. In this few-body study, we have employed  Variational Monte Carlo technique  for calculation of the binding energies of different hyperclear systems

    MAXWELL'S EQUATIONS, THE RELATIVITY PRINCIPLE AND THE OBJECTIVITY OF MEASUREMENT

    The interpretation of the velocity parameter in Maxwell's equations and the Lorentz Force law is examined.  It is shown that the predicted trajectories of electrons in an electromagnetic field depend on the state of motion of the observer.  This ambiguity can be removed by assuming that the origin of the field is the unique reference system for determining the electron velocity in these equations.  The same convention is recommended for the definition of the momentum of particles in general.  Accordingly, it is assumed that observers will only disagree on the results of measurements because they employ different systems of physical units in their respective rest frames. This situation needs to be recognized in applying Galileo's Relativity Principle (RP), particularly with respect to the transformation properties of physical laws in different rest frames

    Zakat as an Alternative of Microcredit for Poverty Reduction in Bangladesh

    Multidimensional poverty is a current global issue and nationally still exists in Bangladesh. Microfinance is considered one of the most important programs for poverty reduction. The formal and informal financial sectors are ineffective to serve the poorer section of the communities. Zakat is one of the main philosophies of the Islamic finance, centered on societal well-being and equal delivery of assets. Zakat is mandatory for every Muslim who possesses over a prescribed limit of wealth for at least one continuous year 2.5% of one's wealth is given away to the poor. This research was carried out in the district of Bogra, Bangladesh, to examine the difference of household income between the beneficiaries of only microfinance and beneficiaries of both microfinance and zakat recipients. A total of 400 out of 279,000 women beneficiaries of microfinance were recruited as respondents in which cluster sampling method was deployed. The finding indicates that the average daily, monthly, and yearly income of only microfinance beneficiaries was Tk30.56 (US0.42),Tk897.93(US0.42), Tk897.93 (US12.48) and Tk9692 (US134.62).Ontheotherhand,theaveragedaily,monthlyandyearlyincomeofbothrecipientsofmicrofinanceandzakatwasTk69.55(US134.62). On the other hand, the average daily, monthly and yearly income of both recipients of microfinance and zakat was Tk69.55 (US0.97), Tk2086.36 (US28.98)andTk20845.45(US28.98) and Tk20845.45 (US290) respectively. Using the T values (4.12, 4.14 and 3.70), the study result highlights that there is a statistically significance differences of household income with P. value of 0.00 (P0.05) in between the two groups who benefited from solely microfinance and those who benefited from both microfinance and zakat. The study findings indicate that appropriate utility of zakat was effectual in increasing the household income of microfinance beneficiaries in Bangladesh

    A model has been prepared under KERAS, an artificial neural network software under PYTHON, to predict radon exhalation rate from soil due to its emission from radium, a radioactive material present in the soil which in turn originates from the decay of uranium, another radioactive material. The model has been built under machine intelligence technique using artificial neural network algorithm with the data set obtained from the radon study conducted in the Brahmaputra valley of Assam. The model not only predicts exhalation rate of radon of our own data set but also do the same for other region where similar study has been conducted by other workers

    Method of Payment and Operating Performance of Acquiring Companies: A Study of Indian Mergers

    The present paper aims at analyzing the operating performance of 84 acquiring companies involved in MAs in India between 2000-2010. The study examines the relation between the change in operating performance of acquiring firms and cash and stock methods of payment. The results of the study indicate that the operating performance of sample acquiring companies deteriorates after the merger in the long run. Out of 5 measures of performance 3 measures shows that the control firms outperform sample firms.
