Design and Comparative Study of Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger with Different Baffle Configurations
In this study, the pressure drop, heat transfer coefficient and performance evaluation factor (PEF) of a shell and tube heat exchanger with eight different geometrical baffle configurations are numerically investigated. The work was carried out using ANSYS. To investigate the influence of baffle on performance, four baffle spacing (86 mm, 100 mm, 120 mm and 150 mm), four baffle cuts (30%, 40%, 50% and 70%) and two baffle types (single segmental type and double segmental type) are considered. Low baffle spacing provides the most heat transfer rate and efficient overall performance of heat exchanger with the expense of pressure drop. With increase in baffle cut percentages, both pressure drop and heat transfer coefficient decreases but overall performance of heat exchanger increases. The results show that heat exchanger with double segmental type baffle (DHX) has the highest impact on heat transfer and overall performance of heat exchanger in comparison to single segmental type (SHX)
Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Construction Industry: A Review
Construction is probably the most seasoned calling as individuals have been building safe houses and structures for centuries. In any case, the business has advanced a lot in the manner they configuration, plan, and assemble structures. As of late, development organizations have progressively begun utilizing AI in a scope of approaches to make development more effective and imaginative. From advancing work routines to improving work environment wellbeing to keeping a protected watch on development offices, AI in the development business is as of now demonstrating its worth. Development supervisors have been discovering an incentive with AI and psychological innovations to help mechanize a significant number of the everyday except fundamental assignments to running their tasks. They are discovering AI accommodating with booking related assignments so as to forestall postponements, clashes, and different issues. This is both on the staff level of planning and on the undertaking and materials side. For little scope ventures people may have the option to oversee entangled development calendars and procedures physically. Nonetheless, enormous scope, multi-year ventures require the coordination of many convoluted errands and moving parts, for example, plans and outlines, licenses, and unforeseen postponements and changes that rapidly gain out of power for people to oversee without the help of innovation. The AI can screen hardware, devices and supplies and convey cautions in the event that anybody endeavours to take something from the site. In view of the mind-boggling results AI has conveyed, it's nothing unexpected that the development business is receiving different AI advancements. The advantages that AI can give are still moderately early. In the coming years AI will keep on driving cost reserve funds, time investment funds, and generally enhancements and efficiencies to the development business

Planning of power system operation for reduction of system loss using series power flow controller devices involving PSO optimization technique
This work presents a planning of power system operation for reducing total real power loss (TRPL) using series power flow controller (SPFC) in the in selected transmission lines of a power system. To identify the transmission lines suitable for placements of SPFC devices, sensitivity relations among the power through lines and TRPL are used. For this purpose, power loss sensitivity factor (PLSF) is derived to relate the change in TRPL to the change in power flow (CPF) through the lines of a power system. Then the lines having significant values of PLSF are considered for the introduction of SPFC devices to reduce TRPL. Utilizing the PLSF and their relation to the change in TRPL, the necessary optimal values of CPF for the selected lines are obtained by using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) technique. Incorporating the optimal values of CPF for the lines considered for introduction of SPFC devices, a load flow analysis with SPFC (LFAWSPFC) is carried out, to estimate the state variables of SPFC devices, namely voltage magnitude and phase angle. To show the effectiveness of the proposed method, simulations were performed on standard IEEE 118 bus and it is found that the TRPL has been reduced to 2.5151 p.u. from 3.0851 p.u., also improve bus voltages of the system with the implementation of SPFC devices in the selected sensitive lines. Further, the cost analysis related to installation of SPFC devices and saving due to reduction of TRPL is also presented
Design of an Automatic Traffic Control System with Real Time Vehicle Density Analysis
Growth in developing countries forcefully leads their roads becoming increasingly congested thus bringing traffic to a standstill. There are two major measures that can address this issue viz. manual and automatic approaches. Because of its inefficiency, manual approach is not considered under the preview of this study and the automatic approach, which is the focus of this study, can further be classified into two viz. timer based and density based approaches. Timer based approaches are primarily static in nature and hence cannot consider real time requirements. Incorporating Density analysis on to the problem under preview adds dynamism to the solution and in the proposed study, traffic signals are controlled by considering real time density of vehicles on each roads. After capturing real time images and performing appropriate preprocessing, density of vehicles are measured using Canny Edge detection approach; which is used as a parameter for later decision making. Considering density parameters alone may lead to starvation to certain roads and here in the proposed study, authors consider a weight factor to propose a better solution. A prototype was developed using Arduino mega 2560 board, Webcams and Airplane 9g Mini Servo - SG-90 and led lights and it was observed that the efficacy of the proposed system is higher while comparing it to other prevailing methods
Durability Properties of Self Compacting Concrete: A Review
The Self Compacting Concrete (SCC) was to be the future in the construction industry. To reduce the amount of cement in the concrete mix, fly ash was replaced in the self-compacting concrete mix. The study deals with reducing the cement content in the self-compacting concrete mix with replacement of 15%, 20% and 25% of fly ash. The concrete mix includes four mixes with one conventional mix and three mixes with replacement of fly ash instead of cement with different percentage. With the addition of Superplasticizers and Viscosity modifying agent the concrete mix enriches the quality of workability in this study. The self-compacting concrete thus generated was subjected for testing the mechanical and durability properties of the concrete. The testing includes compressive strength, split tensile test, flexural testing and rapid chloride penetration test. The result concludes, compared to the replacement of fly ash with the percentage of 25% and 20% the concrete mix with replacement of fly ash with 15% gives greater strength and more durable. When the concrete structure is completed, the owner should further be provided with a proper service manual for the future operation of the structure
