Urban flooding has become a significant concern across many towns and cities in the Asia Pacific. Vulnerabilityand its components must be understood in order to minimize flood risks. Rapid urban growth occurs in developing countries, resulting from unplanned settlements growing along the rivers, and coastlines are at greater risk. On average, a total of 40%of the world’s population lives in narrow coastal belts that take up 7% of the total world land area. Coastal areas areurbanizing at an unprecedented rate that is posing a common threat to humans and ecosystems. Low-lying coastal areas areespecially susceptible to climate change related coastal hazards such as; sea level rise, storm surge, coastal flooding, landsubsidence etc. This study has been carriedoutacross four talukas of South Goa district, India's smallest state, locatedalong the Arabian sea. The low-lying coastal belt of South Goa district is dotted with world famous sandy beaches ofPalolem, Agonda, Colva etc. which attract millions of tourists every year. The present study has assessed the spatio-temporalgrowth of built-up land in low-lying coastal areas (Marmugao, Salcette, Quepem and Canacona) of South goa district.GoogleEarthEngineplatformwasusedtoestimateNormalizedDifferenceBuildIndex(NDBI)basedonLandsatETM+/OLI imageries for 2009, 2015 and 2020 to determine and map spatio-temporal changes in the total built-up area. Theresult revealed that there had been a rapid built-up area increment in South goa coastal belt by 24.94 Sq. Km between 2009(88.46 Sq. Km) and 2015 (113.40 Sq. Km) and by 15.14 Sq. Km between 2015 (113.40 Sq. Km) and 2020 (128.54 Sq. Km).The main driving force behind this phenomenon is the extensive land use changes for haphazard tourism development (inSalcetteandCanacona)andimmigration(inMarmugao). However, theconversionoftraditionalpaddyfieldsandmodification of natural drainage systemtoincrease built-up areas cansignificantly increase the physical andsocialvulnerability in low lying areas of Salcette and Canacona against the coastal hazards. Effect of SiO2 on Rice Husk Ash- Slag based Geopolymer Composites

In the planet, cement is most adaptable, enduring, reliable, and essential material used for edifice. After water, Concrete is most widely used material on the earth. But concrete is not eco-friendly due to large carbon footprint of cement. In current work a new eco-friendly standby of cement called as Geopolymer is worked out. The use of waste material like Rice Husk Ash (RHA), Ground Granulated Blast-Furnace Slag (GGBS) etc. and polymeric binder with no use of OPC is considered. In the present work experimental investigation is performed like Compressive strength (7 and 28 days) at ambient curing condition. Effect of SiO2 on compressive strength is evaluate in present work. The variation of SiO2 (6 %, 7 %, 8 %) and Fixed value of Na2O and different combination of RHA and GGBS (variation from (10 % to 50 %, increases 10 % in each step) was used in this paper

Design and Development of a Fingerprint Based Exam Hall Authentication System

    Get PDF
Fingerprint exam hall authentication system is a system designed to allow valid users to the exam hall and block invalid users after their fingerprint scan authentication. This system offers an alternative solution to conventional paper type exam authentication. Besides, this system can also be utilized as an attendance system by storing and comparing the database of the students. Traditional paper type exam authentication and attendance list is sometimes regarded as unreliable due to paper lost or proxy attendance system. This system has been running with a R305 fingerprint scanner module and an ATmega328P microcontroller main board connected with several inputs/outputs. Barrel type push buttons are the inputs and LCD, buzzer and solenoid are the outputs used in the design. The system can be operated by push buttons or using Android app to control several operations such as fingerprint enrollment, verification and deletion. The Android app operates in similar way wirelessly by connecting to Bluetooth module but it has additional feature such as student attendance databases management and storing as well as PDF file export. The design can be operated as standalone and handheld method with both hardware and Android app is successfully implemented by using the prototype

Estimation of glacier surface velocity of Drang- drung glacier by DInSAR technique using Sentinel- 1 SLC SAR data

Glaciers are sensitive to climate change, especially the mountain glaciers due to their relatively small size they show rapid and fast changes to the ongoing trend of warming in climate. In the Himalayan region, the glaciers serve as important source of water for agriculture, power supply and tourism related activities. Glacier velocity gives information about the glacier health and helps in understanding the climate change, mass balance, and glacier dynamics. Differential SAR Interferometry (DInSAR) is the radar interferometry technique for measuring surface changes with a higher accuracy up to millimeter range. Velocity estimates are important to understand the glacier related hazards and can help in alleviating the possible future damage downslope. In this study, the velocity of one of the biggest and benchmark glaciers in Zanskar region has been estimated using DInSAR technique on Sentinel 1 SLC data. The results show that glacier has moved approximately 1m over a period of 12 days

Relative Result And Design Analysis of SPV Tracking System on Simulink Platform

    Get PDF
The paper describes a tracking mechanism that was implemented on the simulink stage. This review shows the distinctions in current and voltage for static and following Solar Photo Voltaic (SPV) power plants. This research also includes a comparative evaluation of alternative panel placements (static force plant). The study also included the whole model, including the tracking model of sun, static SPV model, sensor (like LDR) model, and direct current motor model. The main purpose of this research is to deconstruct the results of the static force plant. The static force plants on the tiltaion edges are 30 ̊, 60 ̊, and 90 ̊. Simulation findings as well as the impact of the tiltation point are also included. The greater effectiveness as a result of the tracking approach is mentioned in the final comment

    A REVIEW ON THYROPROTECTIVE PLANTS

Thyroid impairment are rising dominantly in Indian Population in an alarming rate. Hypothyroidism as well as hyperthyroidism are the most common thyroid diseases in India. An important measure to thyroid abnormality is hormone replacement therapy. Herbal treatment to thyroid diseases are getting importance over hormone replacement. The aim of this review is to give information over herbs that has been tried over model organism or herbs that has been used traditionally for correction of thyroid dysfunction. About a number of 23 plants have been mentioned in this review which may have potential thyroprotective effects

The practicality of being an Independent Investment Counsellor for the unsophisticated casual investor

An individual with a post-graduate degree in Finance usually chooses one of two career options. He can either pursue a Ph.D. In Finance or a related subject and start a career in academics or an individual can join an organization in the financial services sector. However, with increasing competition in the job market, both these career options cited above can pose a lot of challenges to the graduates. A more assured career prospect can be that of an investment counsellor to the unsophisticated investor who may not have access to expensive trading houses or brokerage companies

    FUZZY SOFT NUMBERS

    Get PDF
In this paper we introduce the notion of fuzzy soft numbers. Here defined fuzzy soft number and four arithmetic operations +~,~,×~,÷~ \tilde{+}, \tilde{-}, \tilde{\times}, \tilde{\div} and related properties. Also introduce Hausdorff distance, fuzzy soft metric space, convergence sequence, Cauchy sequence, Continuity, and uniform continuity of fuzzy soft numbers. At starting of this paper, we study convex and concave fuzzy soft sets andsome of their properties
