A Survey on Coordinated Charging Methods for Electric Vehicles

    Get PDF
Electric vehicles (EVs) is regarded as one of the most effective ways to reduce oil and gas use. EVs (electric vehicles) have many advantages over ICEVs (internal combustion engine vehicles), including zero pollution, little noise, and exceptional energy efficiency. Even though an EV is known to have a three times higher fuel efficiency than an ICEV, the driving range is often significantly lower because batteries have a lower energy density than gasoline or diesel. Over the next few decades, it is anticipated that the number of electric vehicles will increase significantly due to concerns about pollution and technological advancements in the sector. Utilizing a variety of energy sources will boost energy security while reducing emissions and fuel usage. A paradigm shift has been observed with the switch from internal combustion to electric car technology. For electric vehicles to become widely used, a charging infrastructure must be developed. However, there is a cap on the amount of electricity that can be used to charge the vehicles in a charging station. Rearranging charging times, specifically charging coordination can help optimize the distribution of the available power among the vehicles. In this paper, a review of the various coordinated charging methods has been presented. A detailed comparison of the methods has been done

    Get PDF
Nowadays the biggest challenge of the electrical power transmission system is voltage collapse. As a result, these days a major outlook has been paid with the aid of a variety of research on voltage stability. In this paper, a method has been introduced to determine the voltage stability of an IEEE 14-bus power system. This technique is based on Reactive Power Sensitivity Indicator. Using this indicator, weak buses are identified among the 14 buses of the system under study. Newton-Raphson method of Load Flow Analysis is coded in MATLAB programming to find out different parameters of the IEEE 14-bus system and used for stability analysis. A FACTS device has been installed in the weakest bus to enhance the voltage stability of the network. The results exhibit the effectiveness of the proposed technique

Replacement of Natural Aggregates in Geopolymer composites - A brief review

    Get PDF
Natural aggregates are essential constituents of both conventional and geopolymer concrete, which fills up approximately 60–80% of the total volume and have a direct impact on the properties of concrete. The extensive use and the high extraction of the natural aggregates raise questions regarding the conservation of natural aggregates' resources and environments. Therefore, several researchers incorporated some recycled aggregates and waste or by-products (WBP) like copper and steel slag, granite quarry sand, crushed sand, etc. as the substitution of natural aggregates. This literature provides a brief review of the properties of the geopolymer composites when natural aggregates are partially or fully replaced. Several previously published literature has been studied and found that the utilization of recycled aggregates and WBP (to a certain extent) into geopolymer concrete has enhanced physical, mechanical, and durability properties, as well as forming a dense structure. Based on the study, it can be concluded that recycled aggregates and WBP have the potential to partially replace natural aggregates (fine as well as coarse)

Design and Implementation of a Microcontroller-based Automatic Temperature-sensing Relay

    Get PDF
A temperature-based relay is designed using a microcontroller, which can be programmed easily for changed settings. The system is built around an Arduino Uno microcontroller that is connected to relays, an LED, and an LM35 temperature sensor. The temperature sensor provides an electrical output corresponding to the temperature in °C and can be used to measure temperature. To determine the temperature of a given room, the Arduino Uno microcontroller decodes the temperature reading from the temperature sensor and compares it to a temperature value that has been set through the program. The microprocessor then automatically switches the relay ON or OFF depending on the comparison algorithm, which is indicated by an LED turning ON or OFF. The primary goal of this work was to design and build an automatic temperature-controlled relay, based on a microcontroller. It has been accomplished with high accuracy. The relay tested for different temperature conditions shows a wide variability in the range of operation. This experimental work serves as an example of how embedded systems are used in electrical device design

Application of UAV based high-resolution remote sensing for crop monitoring

    Get PDF
Advances in technologies could offer enormous potential for crop monitoring applications, allowing the real-time acquisition of various environmental data. Technology such as high spatio-temporal imagery of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV’s) can be widely used in crop monitoring applications. These technologies are expected to revolutionize the global agriculture practices, by enabling decision-making during the crop cycle days. Such results allow the effective practice of agricultural inputs, aiding precision agriculture pillars, i.e., applying the right practice in the right place, with the right amount and time. However, the actual exploitation of UAV’s has not been much strong in smart farming, mainly due to the challenges faced during selecting and deploying relevant technologies, including data acquisition and processing methods. The major problem is that there is still no consistent workflow for the use of UAV’s in such areas, as this mechanization is relatively new. In this article, the latest applications of UAV’s for crop monitoring are reviewed. It covers the most common applications, the types of UAV’s used and then we focused on data acquisition methods and technologies, employing the benefit and drawbacks of each. It also indicates the most popular image processing methods and summarizes the potential application in agricultural operations.

Performance Optimization for Distributed Database Based on Cache Investment

    Get PDF
As technology plays important role in every aspect of life especially in the industrial field, a vast amount of data is generated for controlling and monitoring tools and to help in system development. That results in an increased size of data, which affects the speed and performance of applications/programs. Here a design strategy is proposed to show how to improve both the speed and performance of computer applications by improving the performance of database queries. Key factors that determine computer performance (speed and performance of the processor) are the processor speed, the size of RAM, and the cache memory strategy for the processor. In this paper, we are introducing a solution that is proven to be a tool to increase the performance of queries. It will help to enhance the performance of database queries responsiveness irrespective of the database size. The proposed policy is built-up on the caching concepts i.e. cache investment. Cache investment is a method to combine query optimization and data placement. This work on the concept of investment looks beyond the performance of a single query and helps in achieving a better hit ratio in a long term for large database systems. This paper, discuss and explain the design, architecture and working of the proposed policy. The results show how this proposed policy helps in improving the performance of the database, especially relevant for today’s “big data” environment

Study on Behavioral Intention and Actual Usage of OTT video streaming platforms in North-East India

    Get PDF
India is witnessing a continuous growth of OTT (Over-the-top) video streaming platforms particularly after the Covid-19 pandemic. Many new players have entered the market recently with their offers and created an aggressive competitive situation in the market. This necessitate a detailed understanding of behavior of  OTT video streaming platform consumer’s so that service providers can a better customer satisfaction and achieve competitive advantage. With this in background, this study tries to utilize the proven model of Unified Technology Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2) proposed by Venkatesh et al. (2012) and extended factors to understand the OTT video streaming platform user behavior in North-East India. For the study a model is proposed having formative and reflective structures. The measurement model (reflective model) has 36 indicators relating to 7 latent variables defining behavioral intentions, 15 indicators relating to 3 latent variable defining actual usage of OTT. The structural model (formative model) tried to define the relationship of latent variables with behavioral intention and actual usage and the effect of behavioral intention over actual usage. The adapted version of UTAUT2 questionnaire was used to collect sample data from 564 OTT users to assess the proposed model using variance based SmartPLS v.4.0.  The structural model assessment founds the proposed model to be moderate in predicting actual usage and strong in predicting the behavioral intention of OTT use through Q-square predictive relevance calculations. The explanatory power of the structural model is found to be moderate obtained through R-square. The outcome of analysis also verified that amongst gender, age, occupation and use experience, only age is playing a moderator role in the relationship between behavioral intention and actual usage. It was also observed that behavioral intention played a mediating role between the exogenous variables and actual usage of OTT video streaming platforms. With various statistical analysis and parameters into consideration, it is concluded that the proposed model is fit, reliable and valid, and can be considered as an addition to the existing literature on OTT and UTAUT2 extended models. Keywords: OTT video streaming platform, Extended UTAUT2, PLS-SEM, Predictive relevance, R-Squar

Automatic Title Generation for Text with RNN and Pre-trained Transformer Language Model

    Get PDF
The development of the Internet has made it possible to obtain large amounts of text data. Search engines are used to select text data, but examining all text search results relevant to your query is impossible. Therefore, the only way to summarize content without losing meaning is to use text summarization or automatic text summarization(ATS) in natural language processing (NLP). We have proposed a neural network algorithm to generate title text from Arxiv’s legacy data collections. Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) units and temperature functions are used to create creative content. Google colab is used for experimental setup and result analysis. The results are compared with model accuracy and loss for better analysis

    Get PDF
This study aimed to determine water quality parameters of various samples of water collected from three different areas (Azara, Dipor Bil, and Brahmaputra River). Over the due course of time, various physical and chemical parameters regarding the water quality were analyzed for pH, acidity, hardness, DO, BOD, alkalinity etc., using standard techniques in the laboratory and the Bureau of Indian Standards:10500 (Drinking water specifications) was referred to check the acceptability of water. The water samples were collected during the pre monsoon and post monsoon seasons, and their experimental results were compared. Results from the experimental analysis suggests that the collected water sample were not found to be in accordance with the drinking water standards, and from this, we can conclude that the water samples are highly contaminated. Except for the results obtained for the alkalinity test which were found corrosive, the tap water samples were within the standards for the remaining parameters. Whereas, the Dipor Bil and Brahmaputra samples for all the parameters were found to be over the standard guidelines. Hence, more detailed experimental analysis has to be considered to understand how each parameter vary from one another seasonall
