Squamous cell carcinoma of the kidney: A case report
Primary renal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a rare neoplasm strongly associated with a history of nephrolithiasis. Renal SCC is reported to have high morbidity and mortality rates, especially in the elderly population. Clinical manifestations of renal SCC are generally characterized by hematuria, flank pain, and a palpable mass in the retroperitoneal area. Histopathological examination reveals the infiltration of squamous cell nests that destroy the stroma. These cells show nuclear pleomorphism, an increased nuclear/cytoplasmic ratio, irregular nuclear membranes, coarse chromatin, prominent and dense basophilic nucleoli, and eosinophilic cytoplasm. These histopathological findings confirm the diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma. The uniqueness of this case lies in the diagnosis of renal SCC in a relatively young age group, making it a distinct clinical concern. Further immunohistochemical examination, including CK5/6, p63, p40, and CK14 panels, is needed to determine the prognosis and appropriate treatment strategy. This case report emphasizes the importance of understanding kidney stone disease as a preventive measure against the development of renal SCC
A comparison of the effect of soaking in 75% pomegranate peel and pulp extract versus sodium hypochlorite on the surface roughness of heat-cured acrylic resin denture bases
Heat-cured acrylic resin is the most common material used for denture bases; however, it has limitations such as susceptibility to fluid absorption and abrasion, which can increase surface roughness. This roughness has the potential to become a site for the colonisation of microorganisms such as Candida albicans. Sodium hypochlorite is frequently used as a denture disinfectant, but its corrosive properties can exacerbate surface roughness. Therefore, alternative natural materials such as pomegranate (both peel and pulp) extracts have become a focus of research. Aim: This study aimed to determine the comparative effects of immersion in 75% pomegranate peel extract and 75% pomegranate pulp extract versus sodium hypochlorite on the surface roughness of heat-cured acrylic resin. Method: This study employed a pre- and post-test control group experimental laboratory design, with three treatment groups of nine samples each. Acrylic resin samples were immersed for 7 days and 14.5 hours in the treatment solutions, and their surface roughness was measured using a surface roughness tester before and after immersion. Data analysis was performed using the Shapiro-Wilk test, One-Way ANOVA, and Post Hoc Tukey test. Results: This study found no significant difference between the treatment groups regarding the surface roughness of heat-cured acrylic resin (p = 0.718). However, only the sodium hypochlorite group showed a significant change in surface roughness before and after immersion (p = 0.003), whereas the pomegranate peel and pulp extract groups did not show significant changes (p = 0.099 and p = 0.065, respectively). Conclusion: 75% pomegranate peel and pulp extracts did not cause significant changes to the surface roughness of heat-cured acrylic resin and may represent safer natural alternatives to sodium hypochlorite as denture soaking solutions
Factors related to the quality of health services at Rambung Community Health Center Tebing Tinggi City
Service activites in an organization that the main activitiy is as service’s provider has a very strategic role. The facility that can support health service’s realization through Community Health Center (PUSKESMAS). Minister of Health Regulation number 43 of 2019 concerning Puskesmas states that Puskesmas is health service that doing public health means and first level individual health, by prioritizing promotive and preventive in their working areas. This study aims to determinate the factors relating to quality of health’s service in Puskesmas Rambung at Tebing Tinggi City. This type of research is quantitative with a cross-sectional approach. With population of average monthly patitent who come for treatment of 68 samples. Sampling method used purposive sampling.The results showed that the variables that relating to health service’s quality at Puskesmas Rambung Tebing Tinggi City are tangibles (p=0,004), responsiveness (p=0,0001), assurance (p=0,0001), and empathy (p=0,0001). Puskesmas health workers must improving reliability through the attitude of officers towards patients, maintaining the cleanliness of the puskesmas environment so that patients who come for treatment feel comfortable and it is health workers considered to improve their performance so that they will be even better in the future
Examining safety knowledge and attitudinal factors related to unsafe conduct among lathe operators
Background: Unsafe actions are a primary contributor to occupational accidents in industrial environments, yet the influence of worker-specific factors like knowledge and attitude requires continuous investigation. This study aimed to determine the association between Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) knowledge, attitude, and the prevalence of unsafe actions among lathe machine operators.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted involving 33 lathe machine operators at CV. Melpura Jaya Teknik. Data on demographic characteristics, OSH knowledge, OSH attitude, and unsafe actions were collected using a structured questionnaire. The relationships between variables were analyzed using the Chi-Square test, with the significance level set at p < 0.05.
Results: The analysis revealed a highly significant association between OSH knowledge and unsafe actions (p < .001), as well as a significant association between OSH attitude and unsafe actions (p = .031). Notably, all participants with poor knowledge (100%) or an unsupportive attitude (100%) were found to engage in high-risk unsafe actions. Conversely, all workers with good knowledge or a supportive attitude were classified in the low-risk category.
Conclusion: OSH knowledge and attitude are critical determinants of safe behavior among lathe machine operators. Deficiencies in these areas are strongly correlated with high-risk actions. Therefore, workplace safety interventions should adopt a dual approach, focusing not only on comprehensive knowledge-based training but also on fostering a positive safety culture to shape supportive attitudes
Effectiveness test of avocado seeds on the renal histopathology of white rats induced by isoniazid
The kidneys are a pair of organs within the urinary system, located in the upper retroperitoneal cavity, functioning in blood filtration, reabsorption, and secretion through diffusion processes involved in blood purification and urine formation. The kidneys are highly susceptible to damage from exposure to nephrotoxic drugs, one of which is isoniazid. Avocado seeds (Persea americana Mill.) are known to contain antioxidant compounds with potential protective effects against renal tissue damage. This study aimed to examine the effect of avocado seed extract on the histopathological changes in the kidneys of white rats induced with isoniazid. The research employed an experimental design using 25 male rats divided into five groups: positive control (K+), negative control (K–), and three treatment groups receiving avocado seed extract at doses of 100 mg/kg body weight (P1), 200 mg/kg body weight (P2), and 400 mg/kg body weight (P3). Isoniazid induction was administered to all groups except the positive control. After a 14-day treatment period, kidney samples were collected for histopathological analysis using hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining. The observations indicated that avocado seed extract effectively improved renal histological structure in white rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced with isoniazid. In the treatment group III, renal histological improvement was observed, with only 5–25% structural damage or a score of 1, compared to groups I and II, which showed 25–50% damage or a score of 2
Oral health knowledge and its correlation to caries experience among students
Dental caries remains a significant global public health issue, particularly among school-aged children. A lack of knowledge regarding oral health maintenance is considered a primary contributing factor to the high prevalence and severity of caries in this demographic. This study aimed to analyze the influence of oral health maintenance knowledge on the severity of dental caries in Grade 6 students at SDN No. 060833. An analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted. A total of 39 students were selected using simple random sampling. Data on knowledge were collected using a validated questionnaire, while caries severity was assessed through direct oral examination and categorized as pit fissure caries, superficial caries, medium caries, or profound caries. Data analysis employed univariate and bivariate methods using the Chi-Square test. The majority of students (64.1%) had poor knowledge of oral health maintenance. The most common caries severity was superficial caries (35.9%), followed by medium caries (30.8%). Bivariate analysis revealed a statistically significant relationship between knowledge level and caries severity (p-value = 0.000). Students with poor knowledge were more likely to experience medium and profound caries. There is a significant influence of the level of knowledge about oral health maintenance on the severity of dental caries in Grade 6 students. Efforts to improve oral health knowledge through targeted education programs in schools are essential to prevent and reduce the severity of dental caries
The Effect Of Giving Sambiloto Leaf Extract (Andrographis Paniculata) On Reducing Cholesterol Levels And Histopathological Picture Of The Liver Of Male Wistar White Rats
Cholesterol is a lipophilic molecule that plays an important role in human life and does many things to help cells function properly.Cholesterol is needed by the body to build healthy body cells and produce hormones. However, the risk of heart disease and stroke increases with high cholesterol levels in the blood. This study aims to prove, know and test the effect of administering sambiloto leaf extract.(Andrographis paniculata) on the decrease of cholesterol level and histopathology of liver of male white wistar rats. This research is an experimental research using prepost test control group design. In this research, 24 male wistar rats were used as samples which were divided into 6 groups. Each group consists of 4 male wistar rats. The results of the study showed that the extract of sambiloto leaves (Andrographis paniculata) proven effective in reducing cholesterol levels, body weight, andlow density lipoproteinswhite mouse (Rattus norvegicus) male Wistar strain fed with high fat feed. The results of phytochemical tests on sambiloto leaves (Andrographis Paniculata) conducted showed that there were secondary metabolite compounds in the extract of sambiloto leaves (Andrographis Paniculata) including flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, steroidsand tannins. These compounds will eventually lower cholesterol levels,low density lipoproteinsand body weight in white mice (Rattus norvegicus) Wistar strain that has hypercholesterolemia

The incidence of Diabetes Mellitus in Indonesia has surged dramatically, rising from about 8.4 million people 1 2000 to an estimated 21.3 million by 2030. Antidiabetic drugs and insulin treatments frequently lead to side effects, highlighting the need for alternative therapies through traditional medicine. One promising option is the red betel plant (Piper crocatum), which contains chemical compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, and tannins that may help regulate blood glucose levels
Assessing the Role of Lifestyle in Modulating Serum IGF-1 and Association with Breast Cancer Risk Among Palestinian Women in the Gaza Strip: A Case-Control Study
Background: Breast cancer continues to be one of the most diagnosed cancers worldwide, predominantly affecting women. Insulin-like growth factor-1 is vital for cellular growth and metabolism. Dysregulation of IGF-1 has been linked to an increased risk of cancer. This research explores the relationship between lifestyle factors, IGF-1, and BC risk in Palestinian women in the Gaza Strip.
Methods: Case-control study included 112 newly diagnosed BC women and 222 healthy controls. Data were collected using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire and Food Frequency Questionnaire. IGF-1 levels were measured. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 28.
Results: BC patients had significantly lower physical activity than controls (58.9% vs. 44.6%, p=0.014). Eight of the 14 food groups studied were linked to reduced BC risk, with reductions of 3.4% for fruits, 3.7% for meat, 5.6% for grains, 3.0% for low-fat dairy, 16.5% for nuts, 3.3% for snacks and sweets, and 5.5% for soups and sauces, while egg increased risk by 12.5%. Drinks and beverages were positively correlated with IGF-1 levels (rp=0.121, p=0.027) suggesting that these factors may influence BC risk.
Conclusion: Lifestyle factors including diet, and physical activity influence IGF-1 levels and BC risk. Public health interventions promoting healthier lifestyles may help reduce BC risk
The Effect Of Company Size, Profitability, Liquidity, And Company Growth On Going Concern Audit Opinion In Manufacturing Companies Listed On The Indonesia Stock Exchange (Idx) In 2020-2022
This observation aims to test the Influence of Company Size, Profitability, Liquidity, and Company Growth on Going Concern Audit Opinions in Manufacturing Companies Listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in 2020-2022. The quantitative approach is that the results of the research calculations were tested with PLS. The population in this study was 287 all manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The research sample was 26 companies with an observation sample of 78 company data and was applied using the Purposive Sampling technique. The results of the study show that Company Size does not affect Going Concern Audit Opinions in Manufacturing Companies Listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in 2020-2022. Profitability does not affect Going Concern Audit Opinions in Manufacturing Companies Listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in 2020-2022. Liquidity does not affect Going Concern Audit Opinion in Manufacturing Companies Listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in 2020-2022. Company Growth does not affect Going Concern Audit Opinion in Manufacturing Companies Listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in 2020-2022.
