Cognitive poetic Analysis of Hidden Transcript in Two Selected Songs by Sam Kapisa and Arnold Ap

    No full text
The Biaknese has a rich singing tradition. This tradition usually has a gnomic function, in the form of advice or wise words in dealing with various phenomena in their lives. In the social and political context, this tradition also equips the Biaknese in making criticism while avoiding retaliation due to their vulnerable position. This indirectness is a method often used by sub-ordinate or oppressed groups, which James Scott calls as hidden transcript. This research discusses hidden transcript messages in two songs by Sam Kapisa and Arnold Ap, “Manyei sima” and “Arbanya ifo amsam.” Both songs use metaphorical expression inspired by the ecological life of the Biaknese such as the sea, and its animals like birds and marine life. The purpose of this research is to analyze the implied meaning hidden in these metaphors. The method used in this research is qualitative and content analysis to analyze the hidden transcript in the text of the two songs. In particular, this study refers to the concepts of Peter Stockwell and George Lakoff, cognitive poetic and conceptual metaphors with two-domain (target-source) mapping model to infer explicit and implied meanings. The results of the discussion show that the second layer of meaning, although universal, is somehow very reflective because it is determined by the local content specific to the Biaknese and Papuans. Specifically, this finding justifies the existence of hidden transcript elements in the form of metaphor, anonymity, and euphemism in both songs

This study aims to examine the influence of self-regulation in learning on students' resilience at SMA Tunas Harapan Mandiri Rantau Prapat. A quantitative method was used, with 166 students selected through random sampling from a total population of 200. The results showed a significant positive effect of self-regulation on student resilience, with a coefficient of rx2y = 18.072 and p = 0.000 (p < 0.01). The coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.870, indicating that 67.10% of students' resilience is influenced by their self-regulation in learning. Additionally, a significant positive relationship was found between self-regulation and peer social support on resilience (r = 0.894; p = 0.000). These findings suggest that the better students' self-regulation, the higher their resilience in facing academic challenges

Burnout is a condition of prolonged stress that can reduce performance, work motivation, and quality of service, especially among individuals working in public service sectors. This condition highlights the importance of understanding internal factors that guide behavior and determine individual success, namely self-concept. This study aims to determine the effect of self-concept on burnout among employees of the Population and Civil Registration Department in Minahasa Regency. The study employed a quantitative method. The subjects were 40 employees of the Population and Civil Registration Department in Minahasa Regency, selected using a saturated sampling technique. The measurement instruments were Likert-scale questionnaires, consisting of an adopted self-concept scale with 25 valid items (reliability coefficient = 0.888) and an adapted burnout scale with 18 valid items (reliability coefficient = 0.904). The hypothesis was tested using simple linear regression analysis, resulting in the equation Y = 59.139 – 0.345X. The regression analysis showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that self-concept has a negative effect on burnout by 39.9%. These findings extend previous research by showing that self-concept not only correlates with burnout but also directly influences it. Furthermore, this study provides new insights into the impact of self-concept on burnout among public service employees in the civil administration sector

    No full text
This study examines the ethical boundaries of judicial authority and their impact on law enforcement and public trust. The role of judges extends beyond merely applying legal principles; it also involves ethical considerations that ensure fairness, impartiality, and integrity in judicial decisions. This research employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method, analyzing legal documents, academic writings, and court rulings to explore the intersection of judicial ethics and the limits of authority. The findings reveal that ethical violations, such as conflicts of interest and abuse of power, significantly affect public perception of judicial credibility. Weak ethical supervision, personal interests, and ineffective accountability mechanisms contribute to these issues. To address these concerns, this study recommends stronger ethical training, enhanced oversight mechanisms, and institutional reforms to uphold judicial integrity. Implementing these measures is crucial for strengthening public confidence in the judiciary and ensuring the fair application of the law

This article discusses unilateral termination of employment (PHK) by employers is a practice that still often occurs in the world of employment in Indonesia and raises legal issues, especially related to the protection of workers' rights. This study analyzes legal protection for workers in the case of unilateral layoffs carried out by PT Fast Food Indonesia (KFC Indonesia), and assesses its legal implications for the mechanism for resolving industrial relations. The issues raised include the suitability of unilateral layoffs with the provisions of Law Number 6 of 2023 and the extent to which workers' rights are legally protected. This study uses a normative legal method with a statutory approach and a case approach. Data were obtained through literature studies and analysis of real cases of mass layoffs by KFC Indonesia. The results of the study indicate that unilateral layoffs by the company do not comply with legal procedures as stipulated in Article 151 of Law Number 6 of 2023, which requires notification, bipartite negotiations, and settlement of industrial relations disputes. In addition, workers' rights such as severance pay and job loss guarantees are not provided proportionally. The legal implications put workers in a disadvantaged position and pave the way for dispute resolution through legal mechanisms in the Industrial Relations Court. This study emphasizes the importance of enforcing strict and comprehensive legal protection for workers in facing unilateral layoffs.
