    The Effect of Male Age on the Quality of Bali Cattle Fresh Semen

    This research was conducted by conducting experiments in UPTD laboratory of Livestock and Livestock Feeding Agricultural Service of Sulawesi Barat Province. The purpose of this research is to compare the age of males during March to April 2013. The results of this research are expected to be used as a guideline for the use of Bali Cattle research as a semen producer based on the age of livestock that can be used as one of the criteria in the selection of prospective semen producing males. The research material is fresh semen of Bali Cattle with requirement of 70% individual motility. The research method used is observation method by observing the fresh semen quality of Bali Cattle research which has been classified into 3 groups based on age 3, 5, and 6 years. The data analysis used is the analysis of the variety and the design is Completely Randomized Design. The results showed that the quality of fresh semen in the three age groups (3, 5, and 6 years) where volume: 5.2 ± 1.2; 6.4 ± 1.1; And 6.4 ± 0.8 ml, color: milk, white, pH: 6,4 ± 0,1; 6.4 ± 0.1; And 6.3 ± 0.1, consistency: concentrated; Medium; Concentrated and concentrated, concentrations: 1909.6 ± 418.8; 1223.3 ± 220.8; And 1790.8 ± 240.5 million / ml, and 92.5 ± 2.9%, abnormality: 4.4 ± 1.2; 4.3 ± 1.2; And 3.3 ± 1.0%. The conclusions of this research indicate that the age of males gives a significant effect on the fresh semen volume, fresh semen concentration, gives a very significant effect on fresh semen concentration and does not have a significant effect on fresh semen sperm abnormalities. And a male of Bali Cattle age 3-6 years old in UPTD Livestock Feeding and Animal Feed Agricultural Service of Sulawesi Province has good semen quality for Artificial Insemination

    Analysis of Opportunity Coston Land Utilization of Soybean and Corn Farming in Watubangga Sub-district, District of Kolaka

    This study aimed to analyze the utilization of agricultural land and income difference between soybean (Glycine max L Merril) farming and corn (Zea mays L)farming in Watubangga sub-District, District of Kolaka. Data were collected by survey and interview and analyzed using an income approach and mean difference test for 65 samples of  heads of households (KK).The results of data analysis showed that the opportunity cost of land utilization was Rp 5.481.651/ Ha which caused by choosing soybean farming.     Analysis of Processing of Clove Essential Oil In Lawulo Village Samaturu Sub-District Kolaka District

    The objectives of the study were to train clove farmers group about the post-harvest handling system in order to produce essential oils with export quality, to train clove farmers group in terms of essential oil processing system as well as to encourage clove farmers group to apply appropriate technology for processing of clove essential oil with export quality. In general, the main and most common problems faced by clove farmers are inadequate system of clove essential oil processing system, the handling system and equipment used are not up to standard, moreover, the technology used in handling, durability, and package of clove essential oils still very limited. The approaches offered and agreed by the clove farmer group are as follow: (1) General approach, (2) Determination of training participants, (3) Types and procedures of training (training strategy), and (4) Scale of the program. The expected targets and outcomes of this community service program are: Farmer groups are able to apply appropriate technology in the production of clove essential oil, both to post-harvest handling, processing and storage of clove essential oils to obtain added value. In fact, knowledge of farmers about post-harvest handling and processing technology of clove essential oil to increase farmer's income is still very poor. The results of analysis of essential oil clove processing showed that the clove leaves utilization as an effort to create an added value of farmer’s income by Rp. 13,000,000 per production unit. The difference in selling price between the dried clove leaves and processed clove leaves into essential oil was Rp. 10,765,000. Comparative test (t-test) showed that t-count value for selling dried clove leaves was 16,068 while clove leaves processed into essential oil was 35,108. The t-table value of 1,675 indicated that t count t table where H_0 is rejected and H_1 is accepted. It concludes that there is a comparative income of farmer who sells dried clove leaves and farmers who sell clove leaves in the form of essential oils

    The Influence of the Farmers Knowledge Level toward the Ettawa Goat Reproduction Regulation System at Ranojaya, Indonesia

    This research was conducted from May to June of 2016 in Ranojaya, Indonesia. There was so the purpose of this research is to find out how much influence the farmers’ knowledge level toward the   Ettawa goat reproduction regulation system in Ranojaya, Indonesia. In determining the location of the research, the researchers were deliberately placed in Ranojaya, Indonesia. It wasby looking at the stressing of Ranojaya area.It was found thatmost of the community have business of Ettawa goat. The technique of determining the sample using purposive sampling technique, where the samples are deliberately selected from a population on the basis of the criteria determined by the researcher is the breeder of Ettawa goat who knows about the regulation of the reproductive system, and from the 1,193 population of 15 selected farmers as the sample/respondent. The results showed that (1) There was a significant correlation between knowledge level of farmer with reproduction system arrangement on an Ettawa goat in Ranojaya, Indonesia. (2) The correlation coefficient between variable X1 (number of livestock ownership) to variable Y is 0.75. This means that there is a strong relationship between the factor of the number of livestock owned on the knowledge level of the farmers with the regulation of reproduction system in Ettawa goat cattle. (3) The correlation coefficient between variables X2 (long breeding) to variable Y is 0.64. This means that there is a strong relationship between the old factors of breeding to the level of knowledge of farmers with the regulation of reproduction system on livestock Ettawa goat. (4) The result of program effectiveness calculation and the effectiveness of the increase of respondent knowledge about the reproduction system regulation on Ettawa crossbreed goat got the effective result, namely 72,75%. While the increase of knowledge of respondents got an effective result that is 47.5%, or there is an increase in knowledge of the respondents after having been done illumination was 14.87

    CHARACTERIZATION AND SIMILARITY ANALYSIS OF 15 TOMATO GENOTYPES IN LOWLANDS BASED ON MORPHOLOGICAL CHARACTERS

    This study aimed to obtain information about the characteristics of 15 genotypes and to study a genetic similarity of each genotype that will be used for producing superior tomato varieties in lowlands. The research was conducted from March to August 2012 at the Experimental Field Leuwikopo Bogor Agricultural University, Darmaga Bogor. The experiment used The Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) using a single factor of genotype with three replications. Characterization and similarity analysis used the method of principal component analysis and cluster analysis. Based on principal component analysis and cluster analysis of tomato genotypes, it can be classified into three groups: group I (IPBT1, IPBT4, IPBT8, IPBT13, IPBT58, IPBT83 and IPBT84), Group II (IPBT3, IPBT23, IPBT30, IPBT33, IPBT34, IPBT53 and IPBT57) and group III (IPBT80). Characters with an influence on the genetic diversity of each component are the size of the cork layer between the scar stalk and the size of the center of the fruit in transverse slices. The genotypes with a high genetic similarity were IPBT1 and IPBT8, while IPBT30 with IPBT80 had a low genetic similarit

    REFLECTIVE TEACHING IN THE ENGLISH TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCESS AT SMA NEGERI 5 KENDARI

    The purpose of this study was to investigate reflective teaching in the English Teaching and Learning process at SMA Negeri 5 Kendari. This was a qualitative research with a case study as the method of the study. The data were collected through questionnaire, interview, and observation while the data sources were five English teachers of SMA Negeri 5 Kendari. The result of the study showed that the teachers applied reflective teaching by using some strategies of reflective teaching, namely video recording, observation, action research, students’ feedback, and joined workshop. The next finding showed that the teachers understood how to define reflective teaching and recognize the importance of being reflective in teaching are: the teachers learnt new things while teaching; the teachers learnt from their own experiences as learners and as teachers; and the teachers developed their teaching skills and continuously improved their knowledge. The last finding showed that in doing reflective teaching, the teachers had some difficulties such as lack of time because they had workloads to be done outside of teaching hours in the classroom. The teachers got difficulties in encouraging their colleagues who lacked of readiness and focus of being reflective

    FERMENTATION OF WHEY WASTE AS ORGANIC LIQUID FERTILIZER "PUCAFU"

    Whey waste contains organic materials, particularly high complex proteins and amino acids in the form of suspended and dissolved solids, however the utilization of whey as a organic liquid fertilizer still has a less attention. Thus the Utilization of the whey waste through anaerobic process to be used as a organic liquid fertilizer is the purpose of the research. This research was conducted using factorial design with completely randomized design (CRD) which consists of two factors: the yeast concentration (without yeast; 0.25 and 0.50 g/500 ml of whey waste) and the fermentation time (0, 3, and 5 days). The variables measured were the content of organic C, C/N Ratio, and Total N, P2O5 and K2O contents. The results showed that the fermented whey waste on the different fermentation time and yeast concentration had increased the organic C and C/N ratio, but decreased P2O5 and K2O contents. The utilization of whey combined with solid or other liquid wastes gave a chance to produce a quality organic liquid fertilizerÂ

    THE MOVES AND STEPS IN THE LITERATURE REVIEW AND DISCUSSION SECTIONS IN THE FOUR MASTER’S DEGREE THESES

    The purpose of this research was to identify moves and steps in the Literature Review and Findings / Discussion chapter of four Master’s Degree theses namely JA, LY, ML, and MM. In analyzing the moves and steps in the Literature Review (LR) and Discussion in this research, the researchers used two kinds of framework namely Kwan (2006) framework and Yang Allison (2003) framework. Kwan framework was used to analyze the moves and steps in the Literature Review, while Yang Alison’s framework was used to analyze moves and steps in the Discussion chapter. It was found that the most frequently used in the LR was Move 1 (Establishing one of the territory of one’s own research), Strategy A (surveying the non-research-related phenomena or knowledge claims) included definition or explanations of terminology, constructs and theories. The authors of four Master Degree’s theses used Move 1 to present the theories and definition of terms. Then, in the Findings/Discussions, the most frequently used is Move 2 (Reporting Result).     This research aims: (1) To find out whether or not the use of deconstruction analysis effective to develop the students’ vocabulary in word formation, word meaning and word usage and (2) to find out the aspect which is mostly affected by using deconstruction analysis. This research employed quasi experimental design. The population of this research was the second semester students of English department at Cokroaminoto University Palopo, which consisting of seven classes in 2013/2014 academic year. The total number of population was 300 students. This research used purposive sampling. The samples of this research, one class was as an experimental class and the other was as a control class. The samples of each class were 30 students. The research data was collected by using vocabulary test to get the students’ vocabulary achievement in covering word formation, word meaning and word usage, which were analyzed by inferential statistic through SPSS version 17 for windows program. The students’ result of posttest of experimental group is significantly developed than the students’ result of posttest of control group by the mean score 76.22 37.55. The difference of both scores is statistically significant based on the t-test value at significant level 0.05 in which the probability value is lower than the significant level (0.00 0.05). So, H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. Then, the three aspects (word formation, word meaning, and word usage) have the same average score, the score of F-obs (1.64) was smaller than F-table (2; 87; 0.05) was 3.10 or 1.64 3.10. So, in this case H1 was rejected and H0 was accepted. It can be concluded that the use of deconstruction analysis effective to develop the students’ vocabulary in word formation, word meaning and word usage and the three aspects have the same average score.
