    Income Analysis of Local Corn Farming (Zea mays L ) in Tapenpah Village North Central Timor Regency

    This study aims to : 1) To determine the level of income of corn farming in the village of Tapenpah. 2) To determine the relative profitability of corn farming in Tapenpah Village . This study uses income analysis tools and R/C Ratio. From the results of research it can be known that the total income of the farmers of corn in the village Tapenpah amounting to Rp. . 72,932,416 , 00 with an average of Rp. . 1,072,535.00 . Based on these results, the relative advantage of corn farming in the village of Tapenpah can be profitable with an R/C ratio of 1.82

    Percentage of Carcass and Protein Content of Breast Meat of Native Chicken Given Apu-Apu Flour (Pistia stratiotes)

    The research aimed to determine the percentage of carcass and protein content of super native chicken breast meat given rations containing apu-apu flour (Pistia stratiotes). The research design used was completely randomized design (C.R.D.) with five treatments and three replications.  Each test consisted of three super three-month-old native chickens. Apu-apu flour levels in each treatment, namely P0 (0%), P1 (5%), P2 (10%), P3 (15%) and P4 (20%). The study was conducted for four weeks. The percentage of carcasses in each treatment were P0 (67.51%), P1 (69.33%), P2 (69.47%), P3 (68.76%) and P4 (70.88%). Furthermore, protein content in breast meat, namely P0 (25.21%), P1 (26.03%), P2 (25.43%), P3 (25.86%) and P4 (25.35%).  There were no significant effects (P 0.05) of fluorine in rations on the carcass percentage and protein content of super native chicken breast meat. The highest average value of carcass percentage was in the treatment of 20% Pistia stratiotes flour, while the highest breast meat protein content was in the treatment of 5% Pistia stratiotes flour

    The Impact of Road Light on Growth and Result of Soybean Plant

    Until now, soybean is still one of the priority food commodities in Indonesia. in the agricultural revitalization program launched by the government in 2005, due to the high price volatility that did not rule out the possibility of shaking the Indonesian economy. Soybean plants can provide positive and negative responses to environmental changes growing above and in the soil.  This response can be known from phenotypic and physiological changes in plants. The environment on land which influences the growth of soybean plants mainly is the duration and intensity of irradiation, air temperature, CO2 content in the atmosphere. The study aims to determine the impact of street lighting on the growth and yield of soybean plants.  The study used a Randomized Block Design Method with 3 treatments,  and each treatment was repeated 9 times, so that it takes 27 treatment plots. J0= Distance of street lighting to soybean land (meters), J1: 50 meters, J2: 60 meters, and J3: 70 meters.  Observations were made one week after planting at 7-day intervals for growth parameters (plant height and number of leaves), while for the production parameters (Number of Content Pods/Plants, Dry Weight (DW) 100 Seeds, DW Seeds/Plots, and DW Seeds/Ha) are carried out after harvest. From the results of the study it can be concluded that there are real differences in the parameters of growth and production (number of filled pods, DW 100 seeds, DW seeds/plot, and DW seeds/ha), where the J3 treatment is capable of producing 2.89 tons/ha (an increase in dry weight of seeds/ha by 28.4%), compared to J1 2.24 tonnes/ha , although not significantly different from Treatment  J

    Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is an annual crop that plays an important role in meeting the food sources of the Indonesian population. In addition, rice plants have a diversity of insects as their natural enemy. This study aims to determine the population of natural enemies of 3 rice varieties, namely Inpari 30, Ciliwung, and Mekongga varieties. The research location is the rice fields in Turikale Subdistrict, Maros District. The method used for the study was the survey location of rice fields with each paddy field size of about 20 x 15 m. The results showed that there were 3 types of predators namely Lycosa, Coccinella, and Orthetrum which were found in each variety with varied total numbers at every 2-week observation interval. The highest population of Lycosa was found in the Inpari 30 (6 wap) variety, the highest Coccinella population also was found in the Inpari 30 (10 wap) variety, while the highest Orthetrum population was found in the Mekongga variety (6 wap). The highest proportion of each variety was Lycosidae 50% in the Inpari 30 variety, Lycosidae 51.35% in the Ciliwung variety, and Lycosidae 44.44% in the Mekongga variet

    Indonesia is an agricultural country in the tropic area with a high potential of agricultural land. This condition is a good ecosystem for human, animal and plant life. With all those potentials, the population in Indonesia has reached more than 260 million people currently. Surely, such a large population brings logical consequences in which a large amount of land  must be provided by the State to support the housing needs and to meet the food and clothing needs. As a matter of fact, the population of Indonesia continues to increase over the time. The increase in population in many areas has caused the conversion of agricultural land into residential land. Therefore, the agricultural land continues to have pressure constantly. The Population pressure to agricultural land is a comparison between the number of people and the minimum land area to be able to live properly. This study aims to analyse the variations of population pressure on agricultural land in each village in Mojolaban Sub-District. The research method used to analyse the population pressure was by utilizing the formula of Otto Sumarwoto I, where residents are considered to only live on cultivated agricultural land. The results showed that population pressure toward agricultural land in Mojolaban Sub District was high. There were 11 villages and 4 villages that were categorized as high and low population pressure on agricultural land respectively

    Using Mobile Instant Messaging in Teaching Vocabulary to Pre-intermediate EFL Learners: The Case of WhatsApp

    Smartphones are becoming an increasingly common part of our daily lives. Applications used in these systems are extremely varied due to their extraordinary efficiency. With respect to language teaching, the use of these technologies has opened up new doors, changing innovatively the way teachers teach and students learn. Accordingly, this study aimed to find out the impacts of using WhatsApp as a mobile instant messaging application on teaching vocabulary among pre-intermediate EFL learners. To this end, 60 Iranian pre-intermediate EFL learners were selected from a private English Language Institute. Then, they were randomly assigned to two equal groups- an experimental group and a control group. They were pre-tested by a researcher-made vocabulary test.  Then, the treatment was applied to both groups. As the treatment, the control group was taught with traditional activities whereas the experimental group was taught with the use of mobile application (WhatsApp). At the end of the instruction, a researcher-made vocabulary post-test was administered. The results of independent samples t-test and one-way ANCOVA indicated that the experimental group had better performance on the post-test compared to control group revealing the usefulness of the mobile application utilized in this study on learning vocabulary

    Empowering Coastal Women in Central Lombok Regency Based on Ecological Awareness

    The tourism development of the Kuta region, Central Lombok district into a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has an impact on coastal communities in accepting changes. The purpose of the study was to determine the efforts to empower coastal women based on ecological awareness. The research subjects were coastal women in the Kuta Mandalika Village area, and the object includes identification of needs assessment, efforts to empower ecological awareness. Data collection is done through interviews and observations. Data analysis, following the steps of qualitative research. The results showed that women in the Kuta area were vulnerable to social and natural environments. The helplessness of women makes them have to work hard to catch up with the economy and prosperity in other fields. Adult children and women must be able to take economic activity so that they become part of the trade sector. Lack of ecological awareness has an impact on women and ensures environmental conditions both physically and non-physically. Coastal women need protection from domestic violence and the environment, comfort, and security in trade, increased education, skills, and independence. Efforts to increase ecological awareness through women's organizations in the Kuta region. This study benefits the village to maximize the ecological awareness of women and provide benefits for further in-depth research

    A Tourism Village Community Empowerment Concept in Tangkeno Village

    A tourist village is a tourist destination or tourism destination that integrates tourist attractions.  Tangkeno Village meets the criteria of a rural area that has unique and special characteristics in the form of local wisdom (customs, culture, potential, which is managed as a tourist attraction in accordance with its capabilities, which is aimed at the social and economic interests of the community and has a tourism component. Later on,  empowerment through tourism villages is expected to be able to contribute to society either directly or indirectly, especially in the economic field.  So, by  this University Assisted Village are carried out in 3 main stages emporement set activities, namely: (1) planning, (2) implementation, and (3) evaluation.  In the end, as a recommendation, Tangkeno Village is expected to form a non-governmental group that specializes in tourism in Tangkeno Village. It is also hoped that there will be a mentoring and training program to increase the human resource capacity of the group in the future

    21st Century skills are one of the educational goals in Indonesia. One of the main goals is enable students to compete at the global level. As a consequence, HOTS-based learning is introduced through 2013 curriculum. In this case, media, materials and teachers should be able to facilitate the students getting used to implement HOTS. To fulfil these challenges, this study investigated the students’ needs which are then used as a basis in the development of digital media. This study is classified into research and development (R D). A questionnaire was employed to take the data and was distributed to 83 senior high school students. Three students voluntarily took part in the interview to confirm the results of the questionnaire. The results of this study showed that students faced difficulty in learning writing, especially in using the correct grammar and mastering English vocabulary. Consequently, they need and want the material or activity in the media that can train them to improve their understanding of grammar and vocabulary mastery. In addition, they also declared that they need to improve their HOTS, as they are still unable to use analyzing and creating skills. At the same time, the learning-need data indicated that students hoped that the developed media should provide opportunities for fellow students and teachers to mutually review writing and provide constructive comments. The material in the media is expected to provide warm-up activities in forms of videos, quizzes and problems to be discussed. All the topics provided must be relevant to their daily life

    Study on the production of male Peranakan Ettawa goat carcasses with different natural feeding.  The purpose of this research is to find out the output of the Peranakan Ettawa male carcasses with mixed natural food. In this study used the Peranakan goat Ettawa males as many as six tails. The research data is analyzed by various print analyses using the complete random plan (RAL), and the measured parameters include cutting weight, carcass weight, and percentage of the carcass.  The rate of cutting weight gained during the research of P1 (100% mulberry) amounted to 10537.50 grams, P2 (50% mulberry, and 50% Gamal) amounting to 10795.00 grams and P3 (100% Gamal) amounting to 12945.00 grams.  The weight of carcasses gained during the research of P1 (100% mulberry) amounted to 4270.00 grams, P2 (50% mulberry, and 50% Gamal) for 4342.50 grams and P3 (100% Gamal) for 5380.00 grams.  The rate of the percentage of carcasses gained during the research of P1 (100% mulberry) of 40.88%, P2 (50% mulberry, and 50% Gamal) amounted to 40.10%, and P3 (100% Gamal) amounted to 41.78%.   Based on the analysis of the prints, the results were derived that the production of an Ettawa Peranakan goat with a different natural feed gave an unreal effect (p 0.05) to the cut weight, weight of carcasses and the percentage of carcasses
