    Applying Sharing Session in Encouraging and Motivating Students in Language Learning Class

    The purpose of this paper is to analyze the importance of sharing sessions in encouraging and motivating students in the language learning class. Not all of the students are active in the class, some students are passive in the class because of some factors. When the teacher asks the question, students preferably keep silent in the class. They are becoming passive participants in the class because they do not know the topic and feel unconfident to speak in front of others.  They are becoming afraid to speak because they do not feel comfortable in the class situation and condition.  They do not have good socialization in the class like they do not respond well and give feedback in the class. For this problem, this paper attempts to analyze how to apply the sharing session steps in language learning class and what are the benefits of applying them.  The teacher can give motivation like intrinsic or extrinsic motivation in a sharing session class which also can encourage students in language learning class. This paper applies qualitative research analysis and also a descriptive method to describe the finding. Two steps can be used to apply sharing sessions in encouraging and motivating students in the language learning class. The first step is to choose the learning materials that are appropriate for the learners, and the second step is to create good classroom management. This paper finally underlines that the use of applied learning materials that are appropriate with the learners and create good classroom management can improve students’ confidence, and it makes them be the independent learners in the classroom

Geography itself is a science that studies the interaction between humans and their environment, the existence of geography learning can make it easier for teachers to grow ecoliteracy in students. Cognitive knowledge of students increases where they can remember to the ability to solve problems, affective, namely the attitude of students has led to protecting the environment and for their own psychomotor students already have the desire to act such as throwing garbage in its place and doing things related to cleanliness at school .     Implementation of Character Education Strengthening in Public Vocational High School

    Character education is best understood as part of a moral education, which deals with the development of positive character which is commonly called virtue. For this reason, this study analyzes the implementation of strengthening character education at Public Vocational High School (SMK Negeri) 1 Bojonggede through 3 basic approaches, namely: class, school and community. This study used a qualitative method with a case study approach and used a purposive technique with the help of key people in determining the participants. While the data collection method uses the method of interviews, observation and other supporting documents. The results showed that the implementation of character education that has been running at SMK Negeri 1 Bojonggede is good in its management. Its integration with the curriculum and other supporting tools is key in running this program. This occurs because the Character Education Strengthening (CES) system at SMK Negeri 1 Bojonggede has been well established and is able to be portrayed in several school programs, as evidenced by the existence of planning, compilation, supervision, and completeness of evaluation

    Should Students Keep on Learning Writing although Facing Problems and Feeling Less Confident?

    Learning to write in English is not an easy task. Foreign language learners (EFL) need to put their best effort to produce an acceptable piece of writing in terms of content and language. This paper is intended to investigate the English Language Education problems in writing essays. This study uses a descriptive-quantitative design, by using mini-scale research on the 2020 batch of students taking essay writing courses this semester. The total population of the participants is 120 students, Yet, the researchers only took 17% of the total population as the respondents.  The instrument used is a five-scale questionnaire in which all items exploring the students’ problems in writing. The researchers distributed the questionnaire randomly to 20 students by using a google form application.   The result shows that the problems frequently faced by the students are the writers' block during writing. All students also felt that the lack of reading affects the progress of their writing.  Furthermore, the students felt they have problems in using proper grammar and how to make the essay intact. As a result, there are 65% of the students do not have enough confidence in writing, and only 30% of them are sufficiently confident with their writing ability

    Lentiviral shRNA Construction in Gene Therapy for Knock Down CYPIA1, and YWHAZ gene in Lung Cancer

    Lung cancer is a disease that is in the top 10 causes of death globally. It is caused by CYP1A1 and YWHAZ genes expressed in the lungs. One of the solutions offered for lung cancer sufferers is gene therapy. Gene therapy for lung cancer is focused on the knock-down of expressed CYP1A1 and YWHAZ genes. It can be using shRNA transfected into lung cells by lentivirus. The lentivirus envelope is modified using glycoprotein filovirus, one of which is ebolavirus. Lentivirus pseudotyping can recognize certain cells. Especially, Ebolavirus can recognize lung cells. The lentiviral gene is designed to carry the gene of interest (shRNA) but no the infectious gene. The shRNA gene transfused into lung cancer cells will recognize and complement the specific target mRNA sites of the CYP1A1 and YWHAZ genes. After that, shRNA will cut the mRNA which should be expressed into a cancer protein. Unexpressed mRNA into protein causes cancer cell growth inhibited.     The Diversity of Molluscs in Mangrove Ecosystem of Kendari Bay

    Changes on the mangrove ecosystem, directly and indirectly, affect the living organisms associated with it, including Molluscs. This study aimed to investigating Molluscs species in mangrove ecosystem of Kendari Bay. It is descriptive research containing facts and natures of mangrove Mollusc species. This study conducted from September to November 2020. Observing and collecting the Mollusc organisms were carried out in four mangrove ecosystems like Bruguiera, Bruguiera/Rhizophora, Rhizophora, and Avicenia.  The method used in this research was an exploring technique by collecting and counting the found Mollusks. Indicators of observing the Mollusks included morphological characteristics and environmental parameters. Three important environmental parameters, like salinity, acidity (pH), and temperature, were measured during field works using hand refractometer, pH tester, and thermometer, respectively. This research indicates about 279 individuals of Mollusks found in all zones consisting of 17 species representing two classes, Gastropod (14 species) and Bivalves (3 species). During this research, the Gastropod Mollusks found Telescopium-telescopium, Terebralia palustris, T. sulcata, Cerithideopsilia cingulata, C. alata, Nerita squamulata, Cerithidea quadrata, C. obtusa, Latirus paetelianus, Cerithium kobelti, Chicoreus capucinus, Nassarius stolatus, N. niticusis, Siphonalia varicosus. For the three species of Bivalves are Polymesoda erosa, Anadora granosa, and  Sacostrea cucullata. The both species T. sulcata and S. cucullata positively dominated all total found Gastropods and Bivalves namely 21.86% and 3.943%, respectively.     This present study aims to develop practical materials for the staff in Sharia faculty IAIN Pontianak to improve their professional and communication skills. The material was produced in the form of module that focused on speaking skills in context and was designed in a way that can addrees the learning need of the staff in Sharia faculty IAIN Pontianak. This study addapts ADDI model in developing the material; analyze, design, develop and implement. In collecting the data for this research, the writer interviews the staff. The results of the interview become the foundation for the writer to develop the material. The finding of this study is in the form of module that covers the daily English expressions that are used in work place. The material from this study can help the staff to express themselves in English in relation to their work. Since the evaluation phase from the ADDI model was not conducted, it is recommended for the future research to evaluate the product that has been developed in this study.  Keywords: ESP, module, staff

    THE FACTORS AFFECTING THE INCOME OF SOYBEAN FARMING IN KULON PROGO REGENCY

    This study aims to determine the factors that affect the income of soybean farming. This research was conducted in Kulon Progo Regency with the number of respondents as many as 50 farmers. This study uses the Cobb-Douglas profit function with the technique Unit Output Price or UOP of Cobb Douglas Profit Function ( UOP-CDPF). This research has been declared valid, reliable, the data is normally distributed, free from multicollinearity and heteroscedasticity problems, so that multiple linear regression analysis can be carried out. The results showed that the R2 value was 36.7%, so the variation in soybean income could be explained by the eight independent variables and the rest explained by variables outside the model. The results of the F test show that the independent variables of seed prices, NPK fertilizer prices, manure prices, Gandasil fertilizer prices, pesticide prices, labor wages, land area and the rate of adoption of GAP (Good Agriculture Practices) together have an effect on soybean income. The t test results show that the increase in soybean farming income is influenced by the increase in labor wages, land area and the level of GAP adoption. Keywords : Cobb-Dauglas, Profit Function, , Soybean, Incom

    VALUE ADDED BUSINESS OF MILK FISH POND IN PINRANG REGENCY

    Milkfish is no longer just a superior commodity in Pinrang Regency, but it has become an inflation suppressor in South Sulawesi, so that representatives of Bank Indonesia South Sulawesi have made the milkfish commodity a development cluster in Pinrang Regency. This study aims to analyze the added value of various types of milkfish products processed by milkfish processing household industries in Pinrang Regency. The research was conducted in Pinrang Regency, South Sulawesi Province. The location selection was carried out purposively with the consideration that the location is an area where milkfish processing is located. The respondents used were one home industry. The data analysis used is descriptive qualitative method of data and information and Hayami method. The results showed the added value produced by the processing of boneless fish products with a small size of Rp. 3,450,-/head, medium size Rp. 6.182,-/head, large size Rp. 15,972,-/fish, shredded fish bone product Rp. 41,991,-/pack and Meatball products Rp. 60,923,-/ pack. This shows that the development of the milkfish processing industry provides added value (positive). It is hoped that the government can further develop the milkfish processing industry in Pinrang Regency because it can provide beneficial value for milkfish farmers
