Resultados das sondaxes nun xacemento atípico da Idade do Ferro: Pena Redonda (Pontecaldelas, Pontevedra)
Get PDFThe settlement site of Pena Redonda was firstly known in 1981 after an unauthorized excavation that revealed the remains of a round hut and associated materials, belonging to the phases I and II of the Castros Culture (800-400 BC / 400-100 BC). The main singularity of the site comes from the atypical location, in the flat highlands and at the bottom of a small hill. This placement, together with the abundance of rock carvings, constitute a typical Bronze Age landscape rather than an Iron Age one; besides, the site itself lacks the characteristic shape of a hillfort. The archaeological excavation of two huts, previously affected by the illicit works, documented the existence of a long term occupation of the site throughout the phases I and II, which discards the possibility of a seasonal or short term use of the site and poses the question of the selection of this specific location. The historical density of the surroundings and the particular conditions of the natural environment are both factors to be considered. The absence of archaeological contexts following the II century BC (which allowed a good preservation of the preroman remains) remarks the interest of this site.[gl] O xacemento de Pena Redonda é coñecido desde 1981 a raíz dunha intervención furtiva que sacou á luz restos dunha estructura circular e material da Fase I e II da Cultura Castrexa (800- 400 a. C. / 400-100 a.C). O interese do sitio radica no seu estraño emprazamento, perto dunha chan elevada e dominado por un outeiro. A paisaxe, onde abundan os petroglifos, é mais propia do Bronce que do Ferro, e o lugar tampouco posúe unha morfoloxia típica de castro. A escavación de dúas cabanas, que foran afectadas polos furtivos, deu como resultado a constatación dunha longa ocupación durante as fases I e II, o que fai desbotar a idea de que se trate dun lugar de habitación ocasional e traza cuestións sobre a elección deste lugar determinado. A densidade histórica dos arredores e o particular escenario natural son indubidablemente factores que hai que ter en conta. A inexistencia de niveis posteriores ao século II a. C. -que permitiu a boa conservación dos restos prerromanos- reforza, se cabe, o interese deste xacemento
Los mareantes pontevedreses y la pesca de altura en el siglo XVI
Get PDFDuring most of the 16th century, the town of Pontevedra was recorder as the most dynamic urban centre of the Galician kingdom for its economy based on fishing and sea trade. In contrast with the traditional view which has always regarded the seamen from Rias Baixas as coastal fishermen, Pontevedra's historical legal documents from the Sisteenth Century provide evidence of their presence in Newfoundland and the Canary Island fishing grounds. In the light of this evidence, those seamen appear as faithful continuers of a tradition of seafaring relationships with foreign countries dating back to the late Middle Ages.Durante buena parte del siglo XVI la villa de Pontevedra aparece como el mayor y más dinámico núcleo urbano del Reino de Galicia, con una economía asentada en la pesca y el comercio marítimo. Frente a la visión tradicional, que considera a los hombres del mar de las Rías Baixas gallegas como pescadores de bajura, la documentación notarial pontevedresa del siglo XVI informa de su presencia tanto en Terranova como en el banco de pesca canario. De esta forma se muestran fíeles continuadores de una vocación de relación con el exterior por vía marítima presente desde la Baja Edad Media

Get PDFWe deal in this paper with the recent prehistoric record to be found along the northern route of the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. To start with, we analyze the physical environment and the archaeological remains that have a wide cultural scope, ranging from the Paleolithic to the Medieval ages. We carry on with a review of the earlier research on this topic, from the XIX century onwards. Lastly, we trace the spatial distribution of the megalithic phenomenon in two of the most outstanding areas from this route, Terra Cha and Terra de Melide where, like in other peninsular zones, funerary mounds are commonly linked to old paths that communicate the highlands with the valleys below.[gl] Neste traballo estúdase a Prehistoria recente nas terras polas que transcorre un dos caminos de peregrinación a Santiago de Compostela: o Camiño do Norte. En primeiro lugar analizamos o entorno xeográfíco e os restos arqueolóxicos, que conforman unha riqueza cultural que vai dende o Paleolítico ata o mundo romano e a época medieval. A continuación faise unha escolma dos estudos pioneiros levados a cabo nesa zona desde o século XIX. Por último se rexistra a distribución espacial do fenómeno tumular nas dúas áreas mais salientables do itinerario: a Terra Cha e a Terra de Melide. Ao igual que noutros lugares de Galicia e da Península, os túmulos megalíticos están vinculados a antigos camiños e sitúanse en zonas de paso que comunican as terras altas coas baixas

Get PDFThe special relationship between Portugal and Galicia during the Middle Ages is widely reflected in historiography. A considerable number of documents coming from the royal Portuguese «cancillería» and concerning Galicia provides us even more information about the relationships maintained by these two territories which shared a common past until the 12th century as well as a geographical and linguistic proximity and belonged to the same ecclesiastical jurisdiction. Both territories also maintained trade relations and had some populations in common. These close ties, however, sometimes led to clashes and rivalries.La especial relación entre Portugal y Galicia durante la Edad Media está ampliamente reflejada en la historiografía. Un mejor conocimiento de los cuantiosos documentos emanados de la cancillería real portuguesa referentes al territorio gallego nos ilustrarán aún más sobre las relaciones mantenidas entre estos territorios, con un pasado común hasta el siglo XII, una cercanía geográfica y lingüística, una pertenencia a una misma jurisdicción eclesiástica y unas relaciones comerciales y de convivencia entre sus habitantes. Las «terceras vías» de la socialdemocracia durante los años 90
Get PDFThe different options that the social democracy took on during the nineties are analyzed in this article. In a moment of changes and uncertainties with the loss of one of the ideological pivots in the left after the collapse of the called «real socialism», the dialogue between the different lefts of are intensified. One of the fruits of that confluence was the «Third way» of Guiddens/Blair, who wanted to monopolize the new ways for which the socialdemocracy had to go in a future. The work shows the existence of other «Third ways» in EE.UU and in Europe and sketches that the arrival of the antiglobalization ideas were the revulsive for the left, that it knew how to assimilate critically everything the happened at the end of the eighties and knew how to consider new alternatives, which situated in the map to a new socialdemocracy much more to the left than what wanted to see those «Third ways».Se analizan las diferentes opciones que adoptó la socialdemocracia durante los años 90. En un momento de cambios e incertidumbres con la pérdida de uno de los pivotes ideológicos en la izquierda tras el derrumbe del llamado «socialismo real», se intensificó el diálogo entre las diferentes izquierdas de ambos lados del atlántico. Uno de los frutos de esa confluencia fue la «Tercera Vía» de Guiddens/Blair, quienes quisieron monopolizar las nuevas vías por las que debiera discurrir la socialdemocracia en un futuro. El trabajo muestra la existencia de otras «Terceras vías» tanto en EE.UU como en Europa y esboza que la llegada de las ideas alterglobalizadoras fueron el verdadero revulsivo para la izquierda, que por fin supo asimilar críticamente todo lo sucedido a finales de los 80 y supo plantear nuevas alternativas, que situaron en el mapa a una nueva socialdemocracia mucho más a la izquierda que lo que quisieran ver esas «Terceras Vías»
Arquitectura tradicional gandeira na serra do Suído: a resposta dunha tradición
Get PDFThe paper shows the results of a filedwork project carried out in the mountain range of Serra do Suído. The project was part of a plan of Counterbalance Measures designed to compensate the cultural impact caused by the construction of a wind farm. The results shown correspond to a superficial survey developed to record the cultural heritage elements in the Su ido range, consisting basically of a wide variety of constructions related to traditional stockbreeding. The range was, until recent time, the space for the development of a series of practices of cattle raising quite particular and specifíc of sorne mountain areas of Galicia. Simultaneously the paper recalls the personality of D. Xaquín Lorenzo, the most significant Galician etnoghapher, since his reserach on the cattle rising on the range of Serra de Leboreiro were extremely helpful in the foundations of this piece of research.[gl] Expoñemos os resultados dun traballo realizado na Serra do Suído con motivo da aplicación dun plan de Medidas Compensatorias deseñadas para paliar o impacto cultural motivado pola posible implantación dun parque eólico. Os resultados aquí expostos correspóndense coa realización dunha prospección arqueolóxica superficial realizada na mesma serra, con motivo de tentar rexistrar o patrimonio cultural existente. Neste senso atopámonos cunha ampla diversidade tipolóxica de construcións relacionadas coa economía gandeira que hasta fai pouco desenvolvíase na serra de xeito tradicional. Ó tempo, lembramos a figura do etnógrafo galego por excelencia, D. Xaquín Lorenzo, non só por ser imprescindible a consulta da súa obra, senón porque a lectura dos seus artigos referidos ó pastoreo na Serra de Leboreiro axudaron a apoiar a nosa incipiente investigación
