Artificial Intelligence on ELT in Higher Education: What is Used and Lectures Strategy
Full text linkThis research aims to see what Artificial Intelligence application used by non-English tertiary students in English classroom. The usages of technological application they occasionally use make their task and assignment. And, what strategies English lecturers may use to respond to students assignment created with the help of AI. Research methodology used in this work is descriptive qualitative one by using Participant Action Research (PAR). This research used interview instrument where students answered some questions related to what applications they were used in completing English assignment. Then the researcher made the transcript and drew conclusion from the answers. Based on the result of interview, Google, Chat GPT, and Gemini were frequently used in doing the assignment. Meanwhile, there were 3 strategies of lecturers’ i.e. suppression of academic ethics, using Automatic Article Generator (AAG), and more practice activity. This research can be useful in the ELT field especially lecturer who teaches English to non-English students at State Islamic University. It is undeniable that AI has become part of learning, due to lack of English proficiency, laziness, or limited time the students have. Using AI is useful for them to carry out task effectively and efficiently. This research is focusing on Artificial Intelligence in ELT specifically for lecturer of non-English classroom. In addition, this research is also focused on university students. It is hope that, this research may become an insight for lecturers to respond to e-cheating in ELT classroom of non-English tertiary students.
 
Struggle of Hallucination As Seen in Beth Revis’ a World Without You
Full text linkThe title of this research is “The Struggle Of Hallucination As Seen In Beth Revis’ A World Without You”. This thesis focuses on personality, external conflict, and hallucinations experienced by Bo as in the novel A World Without You. This research uses descriptive qualitative as a method in this final assignment, because the data are in the form of words and sentences written in the novel and analyzed descriptively. The data was obtained by the researcher by reading and writing sentences intensively and collecting several references from several books and dictionaries related to the subject matter and searching for information from the internet to support the research. The results of this study show the personality that occurs in Bo\u27s life as a human being who has different personalities. External conflict occurs because Bo interacts with the people around him. Bo\u27s hallucinations towards this make him and his family treated differently and it is difficult to accept the fact that his lover is no longer there
The Fanatical Comments of NCT (Neo Culture Technology) Fans in Instagram and Twitter Pragmatic Analysis
Full text linkThis study discusses the different ways of communicating between fanatical fans and ordinary NCT fans and discusses the speech acts used. Fanaticism is always present in every activity or in every community, this research is a study of the paragmatic elements of speech acts seen from the illocutionary locutionary and perlocutionary using the theory of Stephen C. Levinson. This study aims to analyze the speech acts used by fanatic fans and ordinary fans of NCT (Neo Culture Technology). This research was conducted using a qualitative research method. The data analysis method in this study was carried out by classifying the comments on Instagram and Twitter social media. The data subjects are comments from fans from social media Instagram and NCT Dream\u27s official twitter from posts posted on May 10 to May 12, 2022. The results show that there are 27 findings at the locutionary form of fanatical fan comments 17 ordinary fans 10, 33 illocutionary fan commentary form 19 ordinary fans 14, 24 perlocutionary fan commentary form 19 ordinary fans 6. It can be concluded that the dominant speech act used is illocutionary and is dominated by NCT (Neo Culture Technology) fanatical fans
Vulgar Terms in Communication Among Mobile Legends Players: A Pragmatic Analysis
Full text linkThis research discusses swear word and forms of use of vulgar terms between players in Mobile Legends. The discussion of this research focuses on the use of swearing in Mobile Legends player communication. The use of swear words and vulgar terms is often found among the public, such as on social media and especially in games such as the Mobile Legends game, In the Mobile Legends game there are often find the use of bad words, such as insults or other vulgar words, this happens when there are several players who play a game that is not good, resulting in defeat which can be detrimental to the entire team, including the other players, the player will lose their score or level that previously obtained. This research is a study of pragmatic elements that uses theory from Ljung (2011), which discusses tip types and their functions. This research aims to identify forms of use of swear words in the communication of Mobile Legends players. This research was carried out using qualitative methods. The data analysis method in this research was carried out by classifying data taken from conversations between Mobile Legends players. The results of the research show that there are 5 data from the circumstance swearing, 4 which state the use of the term sex organ swearing, 3 the use of sexual activities swearing, 2 the term family swearing, 3 from swearing animals swearing and 1 the use of religious swearing and 1 from the use of prostitution swearing
Pengaruh Kompensasi Finansial Terhadap Sinisme Organisasi Dengan Kepuasan Kerja Sebagai Variabel Intervening: Studi Kasus Pada Perusahaan Daerah Air Minum Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan
Full text linkPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh kompensasi finansial terhadap sinisme organisasi dengan kepuasan kerja sebagai variabel intervening. Studi kasus ini dilaksanakan di perusahaan daerah air minum (PDAM) kabupaten pesisir selatan. Rumusan masalah, apakah terdapat pengaruh kompensasi finansial terhadap kepuasan kerja pada PDAM Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan?, pakah terdapat pengaruh kompensasi finansial terhadap sinisme organisasi pada PDAM Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan?, pakah kepuasan kerja berpengaruh sebagai variabel intervening antara kompensasi finansial dan sinisme organisasi pada PDAM Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan?. Populasi dalam studi kasus ini adalah seluruh pegawai PDAM Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan berjumlah 90 orang. Data yang digunakan adalah primer dan data sekunder. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan melakuka survei tentang pendapat responden dengan kuesioer yang berisi pertanyaan-pertanyaan Pengujian hipotesis dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji t. Hasil dari penelitian yang telah dilakukan menunjukkan kompensasi finansial berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kepuasan kerja pada PDAM Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan, kompensasi finansial serta kepuasan kerja berpengaruh negatif atau hubungan yang berlawanan dan signifikan terhadap sinisme organisasi pada PDAM Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan, Kepuasan kerja sebagai variabel intervening secara parsial dengan sinisme organisasi pada PDAM Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan, Kepuasan kerja berperan sebagai variabel intervening secara penuh antara kompensasi finansial dan sinisme organisasi pada PDAM Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan

Full text linkPengelolaan Data Terpadu Kesejahteraan Sosial (DTKS) di Kecamatan Kuranji Kota Padang belum sesuai dengan apa yang diharapkan masyarakat mengenai data yang tidak singkron dengan data yang ada di DISCAPIL, ada yang sudah pindah atau meninggal tapi masih terdata untuk menerima bantuan, dan kurangnya pengawasan dari pihak yang terkait. Dalam penelitian ini ada beberapa pengelompokan dalam mengkaji dalam pengelolaan DTKS di kecamatan Kuranji kota Padang yaitu (1) Bagaimana pengelolaan Data Terpadu Kesejahteraan Sosial di kecamatan Kuranji kota Padang (2) Apa kendala – kendala yang dihadapi dalam pengelolaan (DTKS) di kecamatan Kuranji kota Padang, dan (3) Bagaimana cara mengatasi kendala – kendala dalam pengelolaan Data Terpadu Kesejahteraan Sosial (DTKS) di kecamatan Kuranji Kota Padang. Penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk mengetahui Pengelolaan Data Tepadu Kesejahteraan Sosial (DTKS) di kecamatan Kuranji kota Padang. Metodologi yang peneliti pakai yaitu dengan pendekatan Kualitatif Analisis Deskriptif, sumber data Primer dan Sekunder. Teknik penentuan sampelnya Perposive Sampling serta menggunakan teknik pengumpulan datanya melalui Observasi, Wawancara, dan Dokumentasi. Kendala yang peneliti temukan yaitu perencanaan yang kurang baik dalam pengusulan data, tata kelola pengorganisasian yang kurang baik, lambatnya dalam menetapkan maupun memberikan informasi, dan kurangnya pengawasan dalam pengelolaan Data Terpadu Kesejahteraan Sosial (DTKS) di kecamatan Kuranji kota Padang. Dalam kendala – kendala yang ada peneliti memberikan pandangan sebagai cara untuk mengatasi kendala – kendala tersebut yaitu menempatkan dan memfasilitasi petugas yang mempunyai keahlian dan kinerja secara professional (Planning), membuat tata kelola pengorganisasian yang jelas dalam menjalankan suatu pekerjaan pada petugas pengelola Data Terpadu Kesejahteraan Sosial (DTKS) (Organizing), serta membuat evaluasi kinerja (Actuating ) dan pengawasan (Controlling) terhadap pencapaian hasil yang dilakukan oleh petugas – petugas pengelola Data Terpadu Kesejahteraan Sosial (DTKS) di kecamatan Kuranji kota Padang
Analisis Penyebab Banjir di Kota Padang
Full text linkFungsi dari penelitian ini ialah agar diketahui bagaimana banjir menyebar di Kota Padang dan bagaimana banjir berdampak pada penduduk Kota Padang. Kota Padang sangat rentan terhadap bencana banjir. Di mana penyebab banjir yang mengganggu Kota Padang? Limpasan permukaan yang berlebihan tidak tertampung dalam badan sungai, sehingga air meluap. Yang pertama adalah alam, contohnya curah hujan yang cukup topografi daerah, yang merupakan dua penyebab banjir di Kota Padang. Kedua, adalah manusia, yang utamanya dipengaruhi oleh pertumbuhan penduduknakan, yang diikuti oleh peningkatan kebutuhan lahan usaha untuk berbagai bisnis, termasuk perkebunan, industri, dan pertanian. Banjir dari daerah lain, banjir setempat, dan banjir akibat pasang sungai adalah tiga jenis banjir di Kota Padang yang berdampak pada kehidupan masyarakat.

Analisis Kemampuan Siswa dalam Membuat Kalimat
Full text linkPenelitian ini mengkaji tentang kemampuan siswa dalam membuat kalimat dari Menyusun kata-kata acak menjadi kalimat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kemampuan siswa dalam membuat kalimat yaitu kemampuan siswa dalam menentukan subjek, prediket, objek dan keterangan dalam sebuah kalimat. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan Negeri 1 Tambang. Sampel dari penelitian ini adalah berjumlah dua puluh orang siswa kelas X. alat yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah tes. Tesnya berupa menyusuan kata-kata acak menjadi kalimat yang bermakna. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa memiliki kemampuan yang cukup baik dalam Menyusun kata-kata acak menjadi kalimat
The Sentence Boundary Errors: Diagnosing the EFL Students’ Sentence-Level Inaccuracies in the EFL Writing Classrooms

The syntactic complexities of English sentence structures induced the EFL students’ sentence-level accuracies senseless. The Sentence’s Boundary Errors were, therefore, the major essences of this study. This study aimed at diagnosing the 2nd-year PNP ED students’ SBEs as the writers of English Paragraph Writing at the Writing II course. Qualitatively, both observation and documentation were the instruments of collecting the data while the 1984 Miles & Huberman’s Model and the 1973 Corder’s Clinical Elicitation were employed to analyse the data as regards the SBEs produced by the students. The findings designated that the major sources of the students’ SBEs were the subordinating clauses (noun, adverb and relative clauses), that-clauses, participle phrases, infinitive phrases, lonely verb phrases, afterthought, appositive fragments, fused sentences and comma splices. As a result, the SBEs flopped to communicate complete thoughts because they were grammatically incorrect; lacked a subject, a verb; the independent clauses ran together without properly using punctuation marks, conjunctions or transitions; and two or more independent clauses were purely joined by commas but failed to consider using conjunctions. In conclusion, the success of the EFL students in constructing sentences rests upon the knowledge of complex syntactic structures through transformational grammar.

An Analysis of Slang Used in Wednesday TV Series 2022
Full text linkThis research is conducted to discuss the types of slang words and the functions of the slang words in the Wednesday TV Series. The researcher used theory about types of slang proposed by Allan and Burridge (2006) and Bloomfield and Guth (2014) to classify the types of slang and to analyze the function of slang. This research was conducted by using Descriptive Qualitative Research. The technique used to collect the data was the taking notes technique and to analyze the data was the document analysis. Based on the data analysis it was found seven types of slang found in Wednesday TV Series which is fresh an creative with a total 11 data, flippant with a total 22 data, imitative with a total 7 data, clipping with a total 7 data, abbreviation with a total 4 data, interjection with a total 2 data, and shortened forms with a total 2 data. Furthermore, there are seven function of slang found in Wednesday TV Series, they are to address with a total 8 data, to form intimate atmosphere with a total 9 data, to initiate relax conversation with a total 19 data, to express impression with a total 9 data, to show intimacy with a total 2 data, to reveal anger with a total 3 data, and to humiliate with 5 data
